  1. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 10:50 PM) Agree, Evert can start in the outfiled to so its not like he would be starting 25% of the time. As long as he doesn't start center how the hell was he a center fielder anyway? :banghead
  2. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 11:23 PM) Timo has to be happy to be making $1mil a year. I mean come on Timo makes $1mil to sit around and watch baseball games. Id sit on the bench for less than minimum wage. Sb he's got the best job no doubt. 1 mil to watch white sox baseball
  3. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 10:51 PM) I think it'd be cool if Frank Dye and Carl can rotate around the RF/DH slots with one getting a day off one day while the other 2 play. That way we get the maximum amount of playing time for all 3 players. Having 3 hot bats in the lineup vying for 2 slots? What a nice problem to have. I agree. We don't need to trade anyone. If these guys want to win they will go with it. We need a deep team to make a deep run. Its all about that ring.
  4. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 11:07 PM) Another thing to consider is that Phil did it with two almost (pretty sure Harper and Grant were on the Lakers, not that they matter that much) completely different groups of players on two different teams, and one could argue that the Bulls make up two different groups considering Michael and Scottie were the only ones that were there for all 6. That means he had to come up with at least two different major approaches given the personel on the teams. Red had a certain amount of continuity throughout the entire run. Notice how long several of the Celtics were there, and if you look at the playoff history they played many of the same teams every year. Just think of how many different teams that the Bulls had to play during their run, and then add all of the opponents for the Lakers. That's a lot of different teams to game plan for, as opposed to about 5 or 6 real challenges for the whole Celtic stretch. great point. You keep the same team intact during an age with no free agency (compared to how it is now ) you will pretty much see the same results year in and year out.
  5. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 11:02 PM) Defining point: Is a coach more influential to getting a team it's base of wins or putting it over the top and a championship? I believe the players get the team in position and the coach helps finish the deal and puts the team over the top. The coaches biggest influence isn't winning the first game, it's winning the last. I say the latter. A good coach helps a team win lots of games. A great coach helps a team win lots of important games. which can be said for both red and phil
  6. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 10:54 PM) I went with Red. I feel that coaches are unfairly penalized for loyalty in staying in one place while guys like Larry Brown and Bill Parcels get extra credit for fleeing and doing well some place else. Phil is obviously a great coach and I hat eto hold Shaq/MJ/Pip/Kobe against him but we'll get to see how good he is if he can win with this Laker team so red had no stars?
  7. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 10:44 PM) This isn't even a question... why? Your just going to make a comment like that and run off? Back it up. Tex made some good points I debated with him. What can you add?
  8. Frank should start at least 75 % of the games
  9. agreed. Lets go go go whitesox chicago's proud of you!
  10. Wow. We miss vlad, gagne, peavey, eaton ect. now sweeney. not that I want to see anyone hurt.
  11. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 08:33 AM) How does that effect the rankings of coaches? For the sake of debate, let's say that the top 120 players are better today, you still have more parity in ability during Red's time from top to bottom. It makes a big difference though when the celtics had 3, 4 or maybe 5 players who would make it in todays' league when other teams had an entire roster that would not even be the water boy in todays' game.
  12. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 03:20 AM) The person that is concocting this massive internet poll takeover is obviously some sort of super genius. Noone else has found a way to dominate the polls because it is so complicated to find a way, only a genius could come up with such an absolutely diabolical plot for All-City team domination. Submitted by: Your Daddy 1:08 AM CDT, Jun 19, 2005 - my quote I read that at least 10 times . I laughed aloud equally each time. Good work!
  13. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 03:10 AM) I've never heard of the "AL WestNL East". read the Edit
  14. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 19, 2005 -> 03:05 AM) Funny how the N.L. Central, minus the Cardinals, appears to be the weakest. I don't know, those reds and pirates could sneak up on the rest of the league!
  15. I would say with the surging indians ours looks like the best right now. top 2 al teams imo Indians not that bad for a 3rd place team. EDIT: I can't correct the poll mistake.... Lets just not put the AL west in the equation since they suck.... Take it as the NL east having that slot
