QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 12:35 PM) Let's get back on topic. If we can somehow come back and beat the Rays, an extremely tough task... and the Red Sox hold on against the Angels... we'll have TCQ back and home field advantage. It's asking a lot, but that would really set up as well as possible for the White Sox. I've thought of this scenario in my dreams the last 2 weeks. That's why I have been rooting for the sawx.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 11:07 AM) It mentions using Jose as a reliever next year. I think at this point in his career, if he is willing, he would make a fine late inning guy. Plus, its the best way to keep him healthy. Jose Contreras, the 10 Million dollar reliever. Brilliant!

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 12:36 PM) Interesting stat I discovered after hours of reserach: The Rays have never won a road playoff game. they very well could be the only team in mlb to never win one. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 12:31 PM) This pisses me off that the Red Sox had to lose that game. Ugh. It was more the angels winning and less the red sox losing. The angels took that game away. They could easily win tonight too. Don't forget, LAA is the best road team in the majors BY FAR. -
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 12:19 PM) He is still part of the team and contributed some wins that helped get us to where we are today. He folded under pressure yes, but still you don't degrade your own players IMO. He may be trade bait this winter for sure, but don't count him out as a member of the 2009 Sox. he contributed to 4 more losses than wins.

QUOTE (MAX @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 10:37 AM) I could be wrong. I just don't like the fact that almost the entire board cites his mental midgetry being the problem as fact. We don't really know whats going on between his ears. I see him pitch fairly well for the first 4 innings on a regular basis. It makes me thing something else is wrong. Do you want to take a chance that he will get you a strong 4 innings? He gave up 4 runs through 3 innings vs Tampa ,5 runs through 4 innings vs minnesota on 9/23 and 6 runs though 3.2 innings at NYY. That accounts for 3 of his last 4 starts, all CRUCIAL games. The only exception would be the Cleveland game of the final weekend when he didn't have his meldown until the 5th with a big 6 spot. All I'm saying is Javy has the ability to give up 5 runs in a hurry. Something you don't want that last game of the series that will be played in cowbell city.

QUOTE (MAX @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 10:32 AM) lol, how is someone a cy young contender for two non consecutive months? rephrase that to pitcher of the month for each given month. fwiw, he had a 3.42 era and was 9-5 at the end of june. Which would be in cy young contention at the time.

QUOTE (MAX @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 10:31 AM) Okay so he sucked really badly for half of the year. I only looked at the previous few months. The year as a whole was not a good one. Yes, mostly due to sucking in July,August and September. If Javy was not such a mental midget I would agree with most of your posts. The good news is maybe a team like KC can be convinced that he will play well for a non-contending team.

QUOTE (MAX @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 10:26 AM) Well I didn't get the impression that he was timid or afraid watching those games. I got the impression that he wasn't pitching well the second and even moreso the third times through those lineups. If you look more closely at those 2004 stats, you'll see he wasn't pitching well the entire year. No, You are wrong. Javy was a cy young contender for the Months of April and June.

QUOTE (MAX @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 10:26 AM) Well I didn't get the impression that he was timid or afraid watching those games. I got the impression that he wasn't pitching well the second and even moreso the third times through those lineups. I can't justify Ozzie giving him another chance in a win or go home scenario. If that's how you want to go down, fine. I'm just glad you are not captain of this ship.

QUOTE (MAX @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 10:12 AM) Its a good thing ozzie isn't as cowardly as this forum. No one would ever pitch but mark and john. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/game...6&year=2004 check out Javy's October game log and Javy's last 4 MUST WIN starts this year http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/game...6&year=2008 I can't find 1 MUST WIN game where Javy has come through, ever!

I am too scared to even go anywhere near Javy right now.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 09:20 AM) I don't see how people can ever b**** about the Vazquez trade (which I still feel we won), when you see what Danks has done compared to B-Mac... I don't see how anyone would complain about the KW extension. Why was there even a thread started on that?

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 01:06 AM) I like the Phillies in this one. They've got a boatload of left-handed hitters to offset the Dodgers right-handed pitchers. they don't have an answer to manny though -

QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 08:29 AM) Besides character issues, what wasn't to like about the Harrison pick? First round talent there. yeah, the dude is a monster. This draft looks like a winner if Chris Williams plays and performs well within the next couple weeks. -

I have to hand it to the Miami Dolphins. 9-7 is not impossible for that group. -

QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 5, 2008 -> 09:41 PM) Danks didn't do anything that Buehrle didn't do. He just got run support and a decent bullpen. you won't find me bashing Buehrle's postseason. I hope we get to game 5 with him on the mound! But, back to Danks, he is a Stud!
