  1. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 11:30 PM) I cannot envision any scenario in which they win both games, and I think it would be a surprise if they win either of them.
  2. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 11:35 AM) I'm not sure why Vasher wasn't outright cut this summer, even with the general and depth issues the Bears have at defensive back. He is just a useless player right now. I can't speak for others, but my feeling is that in a little over two weeks, the Bears are going to be 0-3 and toast.
  3. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 07:45 PM) We'll see how Knox does now that teams are going to acknowledge him a lot more. I don't care who teams cover. Cutler is the main ingredient and you can't cover all of JC's weapons.
  4. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 07:14 PM) Wonder what all the Bears fans are doing who last week said our season was over. losers
  5. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 19, 2009 -> 12:34 AM) Its not that simple, I don't have blind optimism, but I don't have blind "oh my god the season is over" like everyone else seems to have. All I saw in that game was a team that was coached and played so poorly, yet still should have won easily. We lost by 6 points...Clark lost us 7 guaranteed points and Turner's piss poor excuse for an offense lost us 4 extra points in the redzone. I saw a team with 2 legit WR and a decent RB barely win with 4 f***ing INT's and a gift ball given in their own redzone. Please post more often. You make sense and are a breath of fresh air.
  6. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 18, 2009 -> 10:22 PM) I don't get how somebody can point to the schedule and say the Bears are fine. The Packers and Vikings, who are both better teams than the Bears, are playing basically the same schedule. If you aren't concerned about the Bears right now, than you're guilty of what we make fun of Cubs fans for having so much, which is blind optimism. Yeah it's only one loss last week, but this is the NFL and you only play 16 games, so every game is vital.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 18, 2009 -> 08:15 AM) WSF101 always picks to lose and is surprised when (insert team) wins.
  8. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 11:17 AM) What's the feeling of Bears' fans coming into this one with the Steelers? Is it almost getting to that "must win" stage (although it's way early in the season)? You certainly don't want to be down 2 games against Minny for instance when you haven't played them yet. I think with Cutler throwing 4 picks to our biggest rival and the face of the franchise going down for the year, an emotional "must win" against the defending champs would be a huge confidence booster for the team. I think I read somewhere that the Steelers are 1-11 at Soldier Field. I still have enough confidence in the players we have, that anything is possible. Answers for the Steelers Blitz and not giving Big Ben an extra 5 seconds to throw will be the 2 biggest keys, imo.
  9. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 10:55 AM) Bowman to start over Vasher against the Steelers. Sign McAllister, cut Vasher. thx bye Not sure why Bowman did not start the first game.
  10. I remember when you started J4L, good job! I'm sure you added years to your life with your decision get fit.
  11. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Sep 12, 2009 -> 05:44 PM) That's what I didn't like. He's already proven he's the greatest player, I see no need to bring himself down to take shots at anyone. f*** those writers. I don't even know who they are. They can't touch Jordan. Talk about reaching for a story.
  12. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Sep 11, 2009 -> 01:53 PM) 1)He's really not a d-bag. The Sox are the only team he didn't mesh well with in the clubhouse. My thinks it has to do alot with #6, or #14 if you will. who is #6?
  13. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Sep 8, 2009 -> 12:24 AM) Highest single season ERA+ in the AL since 2000: ERA+ NAME YEAR IP CY Voting 1 291 Pedro Martinez 2000 217 1st 2 210 Pedro Martinez 2003 186 3rd 3 202 Pedro Martinez 2002 199 2nd 4 197 Zack Greinke 2009 198 --- 5 182 Johan Santana 2004 228 1st 6 177 Derek Lowe 2002 219 3rd 7 175 Cliff Lee 2008 223 1st 8 164 Tim Hudson 2003 240 4th 9 163 Felix Hernandez 2009 193 --- So as of today Zack Greinke has the highest non-Pedro ERA+ this decade. Oh and he's 10th on that list if you stretch the parameters back to integration (1947). Here's how consistently effective both Greinke and Felix have been this year, highest Quality Start % in the AL since 2000: 1 .862% Pedro Matinez 2000 2 .824% Dan Haren 2007 3 .821% Zack Greinke 2009 4 .821% Felix Hernandez 2009 His final 4 or 5 starts will determine quite a bit but Zack Greinke is having one of the best seasons by a starting pitcher in American League history, it's just a shame that I wouldn't be surprised to see him finish 3rd in the Cy Young voting behind Sabathia and Verlander because he plays for the team with the worst offense in the AL. At this point, it would surprise me (and piss me off) if Grienke didn't get it.
  14. QUOTE (son of a rude @ Sep 7, 2009 -> 09:36 PM) I hope we someday get to see a slayer and mr perfect tag team.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 7, 2009 -> 06:42 PM) Something like 12 teams are going to be running a base 3-4 IIRC. The real rub is...you need certain types of players to make it work. You need a very strong LB Corps and you need that ridiculous run-stopping DT in the middle. There are only so many of those DT's around that can fit in that system. As more teams switch, the advantage to switching will go down unless you already have the players. Good points. The packers really made out with BJ Raji. That could be the difference between them going 6-10 and 10-6 in their 3-4 "adjustment" year. Those guys are rare, indeed.
  16. QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Sep 7, 2009 -> 05:10 PM) In no specific order. Top 3 Team 1: Best team easily, four solid running backs and Wells and Moreno have the chance to be really solid if they start, surprsied they got Evans and DeSean, both should have good years. Team 9: I love the Thomas pick personally and this team has some solid depth. I really like Felix and Julius this year. Santana Moss backing up Royal is also nice. Not to mention Edwards could have a big year. Team 3: I don't like Warner but Cutler as a backup is solid. MJD and Slaton is pretty sick and even Lewis and Stewart are decent backups. I really don't like Lewis this season or Stewart but this team won't need to start either with MJD and Slaton. Only weakness is WR3, I don't buy Bryant this year with a new QB. Berrian could be good though now that Favre is there. Bottom 3 Team 10 Team 7 Team 4 you think like me, maybe that's why I always see you in the playoffs in any league we both are in.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 7, 2009 -> 03:57 PM) Second round pick Ron Brace and 6th Round Pick Myron Pryor have reportedly performed well in training camp. They also free up cap space to sign Vince Wilfork at the same spot. They're also planning to play more 4-3 sets this year reportedly, which alters the type of lineman they need. That said, it's still an interesting move in a number of ways. Between Seau, Bruschi, Seymour, Vrabel, and Rodney Harrison, there's been major turnover on that defense. It's now a lot younger, but it's suddenly missing all of its veteran leadership except for the coach. So, there's clearly a challenge on that side of the ball for NE. I think there's also some interesting implications if there's a 2011 lockout but I don't know enough to say more. The New England organization has been very good at getting a return for talent before it's too late (FA,Old age etc) I do find it interesting that they are going to more 4-3. I thought 3-4 was where most of the league wanted to be? If NE is doing something the bears do, then that makes me feel better about the Bears decision to stay 4-3 so long. Here's an interesting article http://bleacherreport.com/articles/249115-...cover-2-defense (bleacher report fwiw) but he makes a good point about the Steelers switching to a 4-3 cover 2 once LeBeau retires, because that is what Mike Tomlin is familiar with as a D coordinator in minny and Dbacks coach in Tampa.
  18. QUOTE (T R U @ Sep 7, 2009 -> 02:17 PM) Im not talking about the value of the trade, clearly a 30 year old DE thats a free agent who they didn't wanna sign anyways for a 1st is great for them.. Its not like he cant play anymore or something, and for a team that lost a lot from their defense they make this deal for nothing to help them now.. nothing to help them next season.. and maybe a really high pick in two years? Teams built for the super bowl don't need to be making moves like this, they weakened themselves and hey that's fine with me I hate em anyways and whatever weakens them is better for me.. Don't you think the Patriots front office deserves the benefit of the doubt here? They have been the king of the AFC east for almost a decade now. Even last season's injuries to almost half their starters still did not prevent them from going 11-5. They probably have someone to fill right in.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 6, 2009 -> 05:20 PM) And he's a juicer. almost enough to make one of these....
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 4, 2009 -> 01:30 AM) I think time off has people forgetting just how good Forte is. And our line is better. How about the Bears finishing 9-7 last season and adding a few major acquisitions without any significant losses, on top of the 32nd ranked schedule. (though, I will be the first to admit the schedule is much tougher than it looks mainly because Green Bay might be the best 6-10 team I ever seen.)
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 12:39 AM) Look, dad, this guy knows what he's talking about! I get so tired hearing about the WR corps when we've got Forte and Olsen on top of them. Our secondary is still atrocious. If our line applies more pressure, then I think our secondary will be fine (at least average). I can see us making the superbowl, sure, I can also see us missing the playoffs. Mark my words, it will be up to the line.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 04:47 PM) I just hope they haven't wasted this pre-season trying to win games to build hype as opposed to working stuff out that we suck at. Our passing game sucked. I think we worked on that!
  23. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 04:41 PM) Not with this WR core. Fact # 1: Peter King just got paid for his opinion. Fact # 2: You didn't GO BEARS!
