  1. Biggest 5+ losing streak stopper since the back-to-back-to-back homerun game off Randy Johnson in 2005.
  2. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 09:26 PM) Tim Hightower's gonna be a sleeper back this year. I think you may be alone on that one.
  3. I don't think a pre-season game ever made me feel better about a white sox collapse. This year would be the first.
  4. QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 08:16 PM) 3rd and 1....run the damn ball...i dont care if you have cutler Is that you John Shoop? And by run the ball, do you mean up the middle?
  5. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 06:22 PM) I'd be fine with a 65 mil payroll and a few years of 75 to 85 wins as long as it builds the minors. Hello Chicago Pirates!
  6. QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 05:34 PM) Rios sucks ... he's not a junkie though
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 03:06 AM) I actually think Tom Brady is kinda overrated. I think he's a great QB and all. But when people put him in the same class as Montana/Elway/Marino, I want to behead something. Brady is overrated imo, but he is still top 3 and still ahead of Rivers.
  8. QUOTE (T R U @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 03:00 AM) YOU said that he needed to accomplish more than Chad Pennington blah blah.. Then your reason was he needs to do it more than once to be considered along the lines of Peyton, Brees, and Brady.. but your entire logic here makes no sense when Brees and Brady only have one 100+ QB rating season in their careers as well.. And once again, if you would look at Bradys career season avg's they aren't any better than Rivers.. I haven't looked at Brees yet either but ide venture to guess the same would apply. That's not exactly finding my quote. Your not going to sell me on putting a guy in the top 3, who had a 82 Qb rating not too long ago. To put that in perspective, Jason Campbell had a 84.3 rating in 2008. So is he top 3 if he blows his load this year? Sorry. Phil Rivers is close to top 5, but not top 3. That takes more than 1 season.
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 05:39 PM) On a bum knee? Rivers has put up the numbers, he's won in the playoffs, and a lot of the times he did it, essentially, alone. Eli Manning, in the Super Bowl, had a great rotation of running backs, had a guy in Plaxico Burress who was an absolute dominating factor, got lucky because a guy who has since converted to a defensive back made the best catch in the history of the NFL playoffs, and had a defense that had finally figured out how to get to Tom Brady. Eli Manning had a hell of a lot more going for him than Phillip Rivers. Obviously you know what you're talking about. We just have different ways of crowning a top 3 guy. Trust me, I realize Eli is not even sniffing top 10.
  10. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 05:28 PM) Rivers is in that same area as Cutler though. I agree, slight edge to Rivers for now.
  11. QUOTE (T R U @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 11:08 PM) Its funny you should mention that because Brady and Brees also only have one career 100+ rating season.. but please, continue trying to justify your point to apply only to Rivers. Please find my quote where I say 100 is the line. Tom Brady and Drew Brees have more impressive seasons than Phillip Rivers.
  12. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 03:03 PM) How? People are arguing Pennington because once upon a time ago he had a good season. Chad Pennington sucks and has a noodle arm. Pennington is an active player who once had 1 unbelievable season, same with Rivers. In Pennington's case he showed he was playing over his head. If Rivers does it again, he will have 2 unbelievable seasons and I will call him a top 3 QB. I'm not calling Rivers a fluke either, I'm in happy medium land, sitting back and waiting to see what he does this year.
  13. I am the president of a private Internet Marketing and Consulting company.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 01:25 PM) aint that the truth, dudes a winner. Funny how the fantasy world differs from the real world in sports. You don't get too many fantasy points for evading heavy blitzes and turning a likely sack into a 15 yard pass. Ben is a prime example of the difference between fantasy and reality.
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 10:54 AM) Speaking of Fenway... Is it just me, or, historical neatness aside, is that not one of the worst ballparks in the Majors? It seems to reward balls that are hit poorly more than balls that are hit well. A rocket off the MONSTAH can result in a single, but a pop up can result in a homerun. A 302 foot ball that would normally be a foul about 40 feet before it reaches a normal fence can hook around Pesky's lame ass pole. I'm sorry, it's neat, it's different, but the anomalies it creates for the players who play there regularly and their stats is just annoying, and it seems like winning there is really a crapshoot. you complain too much. Maybe you should trade your wii back for the 360. You used to be much happier.
  16. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 03:14 AM) How about playing an undefeated team to a very close game in the AFC Championship on a partially torn ACL? How about leading his team to the AFC West title last year, even at 8-8? Phillip Rivers is one of the best QBs in the league. I'm leaving it at that. With that logic lets crown Eli as the best in the league , because he did not almost beat an undefeated team, he did.
  17. QUOTE (T R U @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 03:39 AM) Your argument for Phil Rivers to accomplish more than Chad Pennington is that ONCE Pennington had a QB Rating of 104. Rivers had a QB Rating of 105 last season, thus, has already surpassed Penningtons accomplishment you have listed. How can surpassing it again change the fact hes already done it anyways? Having a QB rating over 100 for a full season is no fluke.. do it for more than 1 season is the point. It was a fluke for CP. Even without his injury, I doubted he would ever top 100. Philip Rivers probably can and will top 100, when he does I'll give him his props as a top 3 guy. No way he is in the same category as Peyton,Brady and Brees.
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 10:51 AM) Well s***, if we're just looking at historically good QBs and comparing them, let's bring Joe Montana out of retirement and sign him up, then he's better than Phillip Rivers. that makes no sense
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 11:29 AM) Wow are they desperate. If that's what you call desperate, then I wish we were desperate. Rich Harden has been filthy lately.
  20. quincy market is a must see in Boston
  21. QUOTE (T R U @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 09:11 PM) Ok, but Rivers had a 105.5 rating last year By accomplishing more than Pennington would be doing it again. If he has another season like last, I will be first in line to call him top 3, possibly top 1.
