QUOTE (T R U @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 08:51 PM) What exactly has Chad Pennington accomplished? 104.2 passer rating in 2002 (20th highest in NFL history)

I would love subforums, I really don't care to logging into 3 different sites to talk 3 different sports. Too time consuming. I love it all in one spot.
-
Steve, we need more threads where you talk in first person. How about a few thread bumps too?

It would be a shame if Ozzie did not surpass Jerry Manuel in time spent as sox manager. There are quite a few people on this forum who know they would do a better job as sox manager. Anyone know how some of these message board posters can score an interview with KW?

2010? Sign Lebron,Wade and Bosh. Wait. NVM

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 06:49 AM) BTW, without looking, I believe Phillip Rivers led the league in passer rating last year. That's a hell of a testament when his biggest targets are Antonio Gates (the best receiving TE in the game, but only averaged 11.7 yards per catch and only had 60 receptions), LdT, who is growing closer to Westbrook injury-proneness, Vincent Jackson, who is a good, but not great #1, Chris Chambers, who is older, though still solid, and Malcom Floyd, a 29 year old receiver this year, who was not drafted; they have virtually no one else. Yes, Rivers had a running game, but considering they threw the ball 50+ more times than they ran it, and LdT ran for 3.8 a carry...he didn't have a lot. Rivers became the offense last year, he took over, and led the league in passer rating and threw for 30 touchdowns. For f*** sakes, Phillip Rivers might just be the most underrated QB in the league. The dude took the Patriots to a 1-score game in the AFC Championship when they won 16 games in the regular season ON A TORN ACL when LdT COULDN'T PLAY. And he had a pretty good game too. I'd say Phillip Rivers is one of the top 3 QBs I would like leading my team for the next 5 years, and that list still includes Peyton Manning, even if he is a bit older. How about Phillip Rivers accomplish more than Chad Pennington before we put him in the top 3. I still don't see him above the Romo/Cutler tier just yet.

QUOTE (T R U @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 05:15 AM) Yeah, no it isn't. Kurt Warner isn't better than Phil Rivers.. What has Rivers done that has him ranked so high? 2 great seasons and 1 ok season? Sorry, I think he still belongs in the same tier as Cutler and Romo. Warner's numbers the last 2 seasons look better than Rivers the last 2 seasons.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 02:58 AM) This is awesome. Hard to get Gordon star struck, but when your talking to the people who created your walkup song, it's pretty surreal. thanks for that. awesome interview

Everyone in here has nothing better to do?

Contreras/Colon/Penny/Garcia is a World Series caliber staff.... If it were 2005.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 01:18 AM) You always seem to disagree with my posts. I give you credit though, you always come out, disagree, give no reasons why, and are wrong. So you're consistent. Take a look at the difference in wide receivers between Cutler and Rivers (especially last year), take off the Bears/Cutler beer goggles, and then try again. I've been a Cutler fan a season before joining the bears (granted it was because Brady went down week 1, and I needed a replacement for my fantasy QB.) However, I watched most Bronco games because they were usually late games and I needed 10-15 pts to win my week. Not many players I can say I know much more about other than highlight reels, occasional prime time game watching and box score reading. Jay Cutler is one of the top 5 most talented QB's I have ever witnessed. He made his weapons. Everybody talks about how important Wide Receivers are, well Tight Ends are vastly underated. They are the targets when you desperately need 7 yards to keep the chains moving. Remove Gates and Rivers becomes Eli. LT,Sproles,Gates,Jackson,Chambers>> Marshall,Royal and anyone else you want to throw in there. It's not even close. I think Billy Volek would agree.

QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 03:21 PM) Haha, mhizzle don't know his football too well. Add me to that list. His list is spot on.
-
I am going to defend Mhizzle here. I actually agree with his list 100%. BTW , Romo is hated on so much, I think it is to the point where is is now underrated. Unbelievable how much hate that guy gets. All I know is the Cowboys looked more lost without him, then the Patriots did without Brady.

the OFFICIAL this team is really frustrating me thread

QUOTE (T R U @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 03:31 AM) Dotel has been better this year than EVERYBODY in the bullpen except Thornton.. I think that will be apparent when he is most likely not brought back next season and we got some scrub in his place. Dump him for scraps, man get the hell out of here. Its one thing to be frustrated with this team, its another to ignore performance.. OVERALL performance, regardless of if you have a selective memory of the negative.. If Dotel was that worthless, his overall body of work would look much worse than it is.. EDIT: He gave up 3 runs vs Boston in the first game of the series 8/24.. He had only given up 3 runs total since 7/04, that was a 16 appearance span.. No one talks about that, only that one game and he is garbage and needs to be released.. come on man I have to agree with this. Maybe he thinks it's still 2008? -
QUOTE (T R U @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 03:52 AM) There are 16 votes for "yes" and I have only seen one person say they voted yes.. what the hell typical soxtalk fashion.
-
anyone who voted to "shut him down" must have not been a sox fan at the time of the white flag trade and felt the pain of the organization quitting on a season.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 10:51 PM) He had more weapons than Rivers in Denver (even when LT was healthy and great, let alone when he wasn't last year), and Rivers was still a better QB. Moving to Chicago, where his weapons are inferior to what he has had in the past, won't help. no

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 08:26 PM) You could probably have said the same thing about Jim McMahon too. good call. I agree

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 10:53 PM) Cutler still has like 3 years left on his deal, Rivers would have been a FA this offseason, and it's difficult to know where the cap is going to be at the end of next year. That said...if he goes out and continues tearing up the league for the first few weeks of the season, it's something you might legitimately consider while you can still use this year's cap (usually that runs through late october, so you get about 1/2 the regular season to make that call). I can see the media pushing this if we have a successful year. I will never forget the whole "Lovie needs a raise campaign" that reached national media.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 08:33 PM) With where the cap has gone and the price of even a non-terrible QB right now, I can't blame them at all. Good points. So maybe we should sign Jay this year?

I could really use hawk tonight. I have the MLB package out here and I have the Red Sox announcers tonight. I never appreciated Hawk until I moved 700+ miles away.
