QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 07:37 PM) Brees in the middle of a 6 year, 60 mil deal. Good deal. Eli and Rivers? Bad.

Valentin does not make that play -
Alexei might be the most hated player on this board. Alexei is not much worse than multi gold glove winner Derek Jeter was most of his career. What does that prove? I'm not sure.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 23, 2009 -> 01:54 PM) I mean, I know he sucked and all, but it really wasn't that long ago that Rex Grossman was still on the Bears. Yeah, Cutler's arm is stronger and obviously he and Grossman aren't in the same league overall, but it's not like Grossman had a noodle arm. Rex had a cannon, but I'm not sure if he ever launched the ball in the air 60 yards on a roll out. Unlike most Bear fans, I appreciated Rex, I grew up with Steve Walsh and Shane Matthews.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Aug 23, 2009 -> 12:38 PM) That throw that Cutler threw 58 yards in the air on a rollout to his right which overthrew Hester was awesome. That was amazing. I have not seen a throw that long in the air in a while. Would not surprise me if Jay has the strongest arm in the NFL. It's either him or Jamarcus Russell.

Who here is happy Uribe's not on the team anymore?

QUOTE (kev211 @ Aug 21, 2009 -> 01:36 AM) When I saw you posted in this thread, I knew you would be posting these two plays. You always bring up the 2005 team and I have to say I love you for it. 2005 I will always enjoy it. Championships are to enjoy, right? It does not mean I don't want another one soon. -

Mark Buehrle's changeup voted best in the American League

QUOTE (son of a rude @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 10:19 PM) Jim Thome is too powerful to be ranked with mortals in the power category. I am going to go out on a limb and say I think Thome has more power than Arod, I didn't say contact. -

QUOTE (whitesoxgt @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 11:30 PM) I kinda am, loved him defensively but Ozzie would have given the SS nod to Alexei either way which means either Uribe would have played 2nd or 3rd taking away an opportunity from Nix or Beckham. fixed that for ya -

Are we really one of the 4-5 best teams in MLB?

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 09:59 PM) our paper never had a Cy Young winner, 2 ROY candidates/winners, MVP candidate, and whatever Rios turns into. and who is this? -
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 11:45 PM) I just appreciate that we can point to specific games where they were the player who had the biggest influence on the Sox winning. It's my biggest issue with Quentin this year. He's been basically non-influential on game's outcomes. Good point, It's really hard to say he's hurting us though. That 1st to 3rd today was pretty nice for someone with a bad wheel.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 11:44 PM) Never called for Alexei at all. I just think Beckham shouldn't be blamed for anything as of yet. I mean the guy went 6/12 in the A's series prior to this series. He didn't have it against Bannister which was obvious he doesn't pick him up (happens to any hitter that they can't pick up a specific pitcher) and he got on base three times today still. He probably does need a day off only cause he got drilled earlier in the game and didn't look comfortable swinging afterwards. Alexei made a bonehead play as usual, but he's been good with the bat. he needs a breather. I'm not mad at Beckham.
-
QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 11:42 PM) He's a fastball hitter who likes to swing the bat. He's also fond of watching the butterflies and chewing sunflower seeds while running out pop ups and waiting for grounders at short. Did he lose this game for us? It's debatable. I do know he WON 2 games last week for us.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 11:41 PM) Alexei and Pods have been clutch lately but awful at every other facet of the game. Just like the rest of the year, it just seems nothing can gel all at once. I agree with you. If they were not clutch I would be all over them, because they both seem to have IQs of some American Idol fans, but I can appreciate the players who show up for the high pressure situations.
-
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 11:34 PM) The f***er got on base three times today. What a p****. I love him as much as you do, just think it's silly to throw one of the clutch players under the bus(Ramirez) when we have other problems.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 11:34 PM) Yeah, he was awful offensively in the A's series Are you going to debate clutch situations of late?
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 11:32 PM) It's obvious he could use a day off. Has he even gotten one since being called up? You're right, kid needs a break. I can't recall any days off of late. That's a big hole at 3rd if we don't have Beckham for sure, just do not like how he's been swinging lately.
-
He won 2 games last week for us with his bat late in each of those games. \ How about we b**** about Gordon batting like a p**** of late?
