QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 05:34 PM) Tinsley is a beast on D, an unsung hero over there. The pre-brawl Pacers were an insane team, a Top 3 championship contender along with San Antonio and Detroit, IMO. If they'd have won it all this year, I wouldn't have been the least bit surprised. Why, who do you like more on D out of the PG slot? I'm just saying, not a good example when you consider that we would be playing Miami next round (I'm confident we will). He's inconsistently missed a s***load of games, playing some and then sitting out a bunch, this year. And when he has played, he's looked to be playing verry gingerly on that foot.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 05:09 PM) Nobody's gonna stop Wade, but your best bet to contain him is to put a defensive PG on him. I think that Duhon has more than held his own this year on D. It would be nice to have a superior defensive PG like Jamaal Tinsley, but those guys are beyond rare in this league. Duhon has been instrumental in our success this year, there's no question about it. Why even deny it. I'm more worried about guarding Shaq anyways. That's a powerful inside-outside game Miami has with those two. We'll play our hearts out, but that's just too much for the Bulls right now. And out of all the defensive PG's you could have used as an example, you choose Tinsley???

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 02:30 PM) The Cordero situation is one that I'm watching very closely. I know that he makes Frank Robinson nervous as hell, although if you look at his numbers thus far, they're very impressive. I'm hoping for a meltdown so that I can pick up Luis Ayala. Yeah, I'm obviously watching his numbers. I think he'll be fine. I'm more concerned with him getting some more save opportunities.

5th pick in a 16-team league. I might just see what Hoffman and Cordero can do for me for a while...

Our first year in the BE was going to be a struggle anyhow. Right now, the most important task is making sure the recruits get here, especially Chandler. I'm pissed with the choice, but oh well...

I'm taking the wait-and-see approach.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) Hmmm, I wish I could say that this statement makes sense, but unfortunately... Chi-guy has a track record of being an idiot around here, kinda like, uh, no I won't go there. I wish I could say you aren't an arrogant, whiny know-it-all... I dare you to respect other people's opinions, even if they contradict your own. -

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 01:23 PM) This doesn't surprise me at all. You should never open your mouth when it comes to basketball. Go complain about the Sox or something..... The Nuggets would take the Sonics, Mavs, Kings, Rockets, and maybe even the Grizzlies in a 7 game series. Unfortunately, they have to play the Spurs in the first round, so they won't advance. They have the most impressive depth at PF and C IN THE ENTIRE LEAGUE. Marcus Camby, Kenyon Martin, Nene Hilario, and Eduardo Najera? Do you know your basketball, LOL? As much as that depth impresses you, opposing teams are not at risk of any of those dominating a game. I'd be more suprised to see them all stay healthy for an entire series. I can see the Sonics, Mavs, and Rockets disposing of the Nuggets in a seven game series. Not the Kings, though, with the way they've been playing of late... And as far as telling someone they should never open their mouth when it comes to basketball... :headshake -

QUOTE(whitesox89 @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 09:31 PM) ya jus give me my Cherry SKOAL and im set lol however i do like seeds lol I chewed for maybe about 2 months about 2 years, just to try it out. It was partly just a bunch of us guys joking around when we went out to play intramural softball (No Ma'am Softball!). The buzz is nice the first couple of times, but chewing tobacco is just too gross. Makes me gag a little when I think about it. -

QUOTE(Brian @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 09:18 PM) No disrespect to DePaul, but who did you think you were gonna get? Gonna pry someone away from a bigger more successful school? DePaul isn't the program it used to be obviously. They are gonna have to hire a mid major coach and hope he excells. No disrespect to anyone not familiar with the coaching search, but some big-time names were showing interest, and many better mid-major coaches were available. This program was back on the rise. The move to the Big East, along with recent success, called for a better hire. It was very possible, but the program cheaped out. The close to 2 million Leitao buyout should have been put to better use...

SHOOT ME PLEASE! --- Wainwright replaces Leitao, who left for UVaBy Andy Katz ESPN.com Richmond's Jerry Wainwright has accepted an offer to be the next head coach at DePaul, multiple sources close to the situation told ESPN.com on Wednesday. A news conference has tentatively been called for Thursday afternoon at DePaul to announce the hiring. Wainwright, 58, is replacing Dave Leitao, who left two weeks ago to replace Pete Gillen as head coach at Virginia. Wainwright is expected to sign a five-year deal, ranging from $500,000 to $700,000, according to a source close to the negotiation. Wainwright is one of two coaches who interviewed for the position, along with Western Michigan's Steve Hawkins. Wainwright is from Chicago area. Prior to his stint at Richmond, Wainwright was the head coach at UNC Wilmington. He's known to be one of the most respected coaches in the country, especially because of his defensive principles. Wainwright led teams to the NCAA Tournament in 2000 and 2002 at UNC Wilmington and 2004 at Richmond. Wainwright will take with him assistant coach Gary DeCesare, a noted New York-area coach who could recruit well for DePaul as it prepares to enter the Big East next season. Wainwright will also bring his son, Scott, an assistant on Richmond's staff. The rest of his staff is up for discussion and could include DePaul assistants Josh Oppenheimer and Tyler Jones, who didn't go with Leitao. Andy Katz is a senior writer at ESPN.com. --- f*** I don't wanna believe it's true...
