But the mood around here could use some lightnin', so I thought I'd put this back up. I laughed so hard after seeing/reading some of these I actually started crying: http://porktornado.diaryland.com/albumcover.html

Not necessarily. We'd give you a Mexican Wrestler mask, and a cool special move. The only way Steff would defeat you is if Southsider ran in and hit you with a chair while you weren't looking.
-
Alex and Steff need to have a jello wrestling match to settle this once and for all. I am now accepting donations to cover Alex's airfare. Steff will be kidnapped from work when she least expects it. Cmon, whattya say?

But see, the difference is, you initially just shluffed it off, and went about your business. It may have been stupid, but please, it's a movie, and movie reviews are hardly "hateful" or "shameful" Eh, I was just stickin up for V-dog. A smarter man would have not said anything at all.......

This report just confirms one of my oldest theories -- "British People Like Crappy Music."

OK, I'm assuming that what got your knickers in such a twist was c-dub's description of The Passion as "s&m gay porn." It's a f***ing MOVIE. Get over it. If it was something else in that post that got you all riled up, I suggest you take a step back and go research what was said. C-dub has obtained more knowledge on the subject while sitting on the toilet, than you have in your entire life.

April 28th Game Thread 1:05 first pitch
Wong & Owens replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That's nice and all, but I'm geting REAL tired of Mags' inability to get runners in from third with less than two outs. -
When I listen to people like Vince or FlaJim talk, I feel pretty stupid too. That being said, I don't think the answers to this debate lie in the books of any graduate school program. I don't think they exist anywhere on Earth, or, if they do, we don't know how to interpret them. I like having this discussion, but I'm really only doing it for sake of arguing, because I believe that humans are too low on the ethereal ladder to understand the means and rationale of whatever put us here(or put our single-celled ancestors here, if you will), and that's the way it always will be.

I mean pointless from an archaeological perspective. Yes, I agree that the story of Noah has fine fable-like qualities, but if there was no worldwide flood that killed all people and animals on earth, except for the couples paired up on Noah's love boat, then there probably was no big love boat, thus no need to go trapezing into the Turkish mountains to find it. I saw the guy who is heading up the expedition on tv last night. He seems REAL sure of himself. I've got 3 words for him -- Al Capone's Vault.

Here's my notes: I'm wavering between being concerned that this is the second of the lower-tier AL teams that the Sox have not looked good against, or laughing off the bad luck the Sox have had over the last few couple losses. I like Billy Koch, but I don't want him to pitch anymore until he can control that breaking ball of his. Can't they just keep him on the team in a support role, like Jerome Benton of The Time, or that guy from the Might Mighty Bosstones who just dances around? How many straight-as-an-arrow, right-down-the-f***ing-middle fastballs did Rafael Betancourt throw in a row? And why did every Sox hitter miss every one of them? Can Aaron Rowand please learn how to take an inside pitch? Who was that moron who thought Uribe wouldn't be able to deal with breaking balls? He looked like he knew what to do with them just fine. Garland is becoming a VERY good pitcher. He got the shaft yesterday with all those Texsox Leaguers, but he looks exponentially better than he did last year.

Yes, I understand that there may have been a big flood in the Middle East region, but, if it wasn't a worldwide flood, and Noah & Co. weren't going to be the only people saved, then the bible story is pretty pointless, no?

The Continuing Decline & Fall of Mark Buehrle
Wong & Owens replied to C.Rector's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think you want to view Buehrle as Jamie Moyer, but having figured it out earlier in his career than Moyer did. -
Right, but who/what do you think put the organisms here in the first place? Even if you think the entire universe was creatde by a series of bio-chemical-electrical-reactions, waht do you think put the pieces or the process in motion at the beginning?
-
My head just exploded.
-
Jim-- I seem to agree with you point-for-point regarding this topic, so I'm curious, what/who do you think is responsible for starting it all? A god? aliens? Little Richard?
-
A worldwide flood? I'd be interested in finding out what these other texts are. I'd like to see what their take on it is.
-
A flood in the MIDDLE EAST, sure. But the bible says/implies(and correct me if my recollection is off-line) that the whole world was going to be flooded--hence the need to take two of every living species on board. And I disagree with your other statement. I don't think there is much evidence out there that corroborates specifically-bible stories, but the bible does interweave hsitorical occurences that have other sources of confirmation as well. What I mean is, you find find other sources that say Pontius Pilate existed, or that Solomon was a king, etc. But, you won't find ANY other source that recounts Noah's Ark, Job, the Red Sea story, the Tower of Babel, et al. Most of these stories are "fish tales" in that they are exaggerated and embellished accounts. Think the Bill Brasky sketch on SNL.
-
OK, if I apologize for offending you, will please elaborate on why you would disregard an ocean-sized container of evidence that says you and Bonzo are cousins? Does the adam and eve story actually make any sense to you?
-
Cute. I was obviously referring to physical size.
-
No theres not. The bible is the only place it is mentioned, and the bible is not a reliable history source.
-
Anyone who would refuse to acknowledge that humans and apes have common ancestors, in light of the HEAPING MOUNDS of evidence saying so, then yes, they are ignorant, stubborn, and most likely scared.
-
No, I can still think it's a goofy plan.
-
I was simply following ghost's logic that just because someone doesn't believe in it doesn't mean it shouldn't be tested or it doesn't exist at all. **THAT'S NOT WHAT I WAS SAYING AT ALL(CAPS USED TO DIFFERENTIATE, NOT FOR YELLING). I WAS ONLY SPEAKING OF THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE. A WORLD-WIDE FLOOD, OF WHICH NO PROOF CAN BE FOUND, CAUSES "ALL" LIFE TO BE WIPED OUT EXCEPT A BIG BOAT, ON WHICH TWO OF EVERY LIVING SPECIES CAN BE FOUND. C'MON, THIS ISN'T A "MY OPINION VS. YOUR OPINION" THING, IT'S COMMON SENSE. I was saying that some people believe that humans were created by God, and did not evolve. **AND(I'M SORRY), THOSE PEOPLE ARE SCARED, STUBBORN, AND IGNORANT. some people would say humans from monkeys is akin to dragons in antarctica **SEE ABOVE ANSWER it was also that why would someone care about research into demything something like this. I would think evolutionist and/or anti-christians would love to discover the truth that there's no ark. and if not, what are they afraid of? **I'M NOT AFRAID AT ALL. IT WON'T MATTER THAT THEY'LL FIND THAT IT'S NOT THE ARK--THE SAME GROUP THAT STICKS BY THE SHROUD OF TURIN, EVEN THOUGH 4,983 CARBON TESTS HAVE SHOWN IT'S NOWHERE NEAR OLD ENOUGH, WILL JUST TAKE WHATEVER THEY FIND ON THE MOUNTAIN, LOCK IT UP IN A SAFE, CLAIM IT'S LEGIT, AND WON'T LET SCIENTISTS WITHIN 30 FEET OF IT. I DON'T RECALL WHO'S DOING THIS EXPEDITION, OR WHERE THE MONEY IS COMING FROM, BUT IF PUBLIC FUNDS ARE INVOLVED, I'D BE KIND OF IRRITATED.
-
If U.S. States represented the amount of scientific data we have in support of either theory A) That Noah's Ark did exist, in a form close to its description in the bible, or theory B)That humans and apes have common ancestors, Then theory A would be represented by Rhode Island, and theory B would be represented by Alaska. That humans and monkeys have common ancestors is almost indisputable. You want to call it an opinion, fine, say hi to the burning bush for me.
-
But if you are of the opinion that there never was an ark, then there is no history to be looking for. It would be akin to some group of scientists claiming they think there are fire-breathing dragon remains 10,000 feet below Antarctica.
