  1. QUOTE (chunk23 @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 01:21 PM) At this point last year we already acquired our MVP... And yet people were upset about THAT as well. 2005, when did we make most of our moves? When did we sign Alexei? Be patient.
  2. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 01:20 PM) Yep, on the network formerly known as UPN. MyNetwork TV I believe it is. Good, i just passed on bears tickets and wanted to make sure the gay NFL network wont stop me from watching the game.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 01:12 PM) I thought Terrence Howard was so-so, and that Downey Jr. did a good job encapsulating the conflicted, Tony Stark A-hole persona, although the film took a lot of liberties and made him more solidly a good guy by the end of the film compared to the Stark of comic book canon. I thought Jeff Bridges was just about perfect in his role. I didnt like Downey in the role and that may have ruined it for me. Maybe this was a movie where you needed some of the background of the actual comic.
  4. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 01:10 PM) So second base isn't a hole? Nope. Chris Getz takes that position and never lets it go. I think he could put up a .270-.290 BA with a .330-.360 OBpP
  5. NSBB.com are appalled that Towers would do this to Peavy, mostly because of their fellow Cub's fan reports about Peavy singing "Go Cubs Go" (which never happened). He OBVIOUSLY wanted to play for the Cubs, every player does.
  6. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 01:06 PM) If the Brewers traded Cameron for Melky straight up, they'd have the payroll flexibility to acquire Peavy I'd say. Not sure if they'd want to give up the prospects it's take to do however. Cameron deal is dead.
  7. This board is so damn inpatient. You think you all would have learned over the years about when KW makes deals and when he doesnt.
  8. Hahaha, Toews commercial about Kaner is just as funny.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 12:12 PM) I thought Iron Man was easily the better of the two. The scope and sweep of the story was limited, as appropriate for an origin story, and I thought it was the best film adaptation from a comic book in the last few years. I've never been a comic book reader, so its based entirely on the value of the movie to me which I thought was boring and full of terrible acting.
  10. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 11:03 AM) Wow I had no idea Tebow's numbers were that poor. I was kind of iffy on him being in New York but figured whatever since he won last year, but after seeing those numbers, you guys are right Harrell not there over Tebow is an absolute crime. By the way, it was announced yesterday that Illinois and NIU will play at Champaign in September of 2010. http://niuhuskies.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl.../121008aaa.html I'm a bit surprised that the two don't play more often in football, although I really don't enjoy when they play against each other in anything. I'll be at the game though, that's for sure. Illinois teams should face off more often. Although the national pundits dont like it much, Tressel has always been good about giving in state teams a chance to make some cash playing OSU. I hope Illinois does the same thing for some of the other schools in state.
  11. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 12:09 PM) Missle at SS. Lillibridge at 2B. I think Lilli is a better defender at SS than Alexei.
  12. Peavy doesnt want to pitch in the AL, but we have better pieces than the Cubs were offering. ALOT of teams do, but his contract is terrible to take on.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 11:46 AM) Trade Dye for Bailey straight up and sign Abreu and that would be 39. And that's not taking in to account adding any additional folks to the roster, i.e. Beckham or Poreda. (although pretty much everyone else but them and Viciedo that I think might be up this year is already there). It wouldnt, and wasnt a 1 for 1 swap. It was 2-3 guys including Bailey.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 11:42 AM) Viciedo and Contreras would bring us to 38. Yup, and with a trade, you lose 1 and acquire maybe 3.
  15. Lets put it this way: There are two holes on this team right now, Leadoff/CF and a 4th starter. One will be filled via trade, one via FA. If Dye has to be traded to get pitching, then his spot will be filled via FA as well.
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 11:39 AM) I personally think Dunn would be a horrible fit to put in a lineup with Thome and Konerko. He brings nothing new to the table, whereas Abreu can still run and hit for a much much higher average. He is a bad fit. Our team wants to focus on BA and OBP. Dunn satisfies ONE of those aspects.
  17. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 11:35 AM) "We only have 50 cents." "where would he play?"
  18. Our spots in our 40 man are going to be filled, just not yet.

    The Bowery Boys

Seriously, what part do you play?
  20. QUOTE (G&T @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 11:25 AM) I think they are targeting a young outfielder that's still a couple years away and a pitcher for Dye. Essentially, Abreu would be a stop gap until the outfielder would be ready. Thats a good point as well. We already know that Danks is slated for the MLB level in 2-3 years and can play CF, but most likely at one point will end up in the corner. By that time Q will have been a mainstay in RF.
  21. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 11:20 AM) Well Abreu's a better hitter with RISP, I'll give him that. Just don't want to downgrade how good of a hitter JD has been for us over the past 4 seasons. He has been, but Abreu is a better pure hitter than JD. Dye 05-.274 .333 .512 06-.315 .385 .622 07-.254 .317 .486 08-.292 .344 .541 Abreu 05-.286 .405 .474 06-.277 .427 .434 07-.283 .369 .445 08-.296 .371 .471 Abreu gives us more avg and better OBP, with more hits with RISP . Thats the way I personally want this lineup to look like instead of low avg, low OBP and high SLG.
  22. QUOTE (sayitaintso @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 11:18 AM) I guess other teams think we got some talent in AA thats the first time I've heard talent and Valido in a few years.

QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 07:59 AM) After watching the Dark Knight for the first time since I seen it in the theatre I noticed sooo much more of the landmarks in the city. I dont know how I missed in the very first scene when they blew out the window from the blue building to get across to the old post office.I worked in the blue building for 4 years(300 s Riverside building). Its pretty cool to see your everyday stomping grounds on the big screen. Oh yes, I saw the bus plow into the building on canal when I worked at 200 s wacker. Also I watched it again last night on my 50in sammy. I liked it MUCH better than sitting in the far right side of the front row at the AMC on Illinois. His voice is very annoying, but i think it was much easier to enjoy Heath's performance on the smaller screen.
