QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 16, 2008 -> 05:18 PM) Plus, if he succeeds with the Sox, it'll grind the gears of every Cubs fan in Chicago. trading him, or letting him go is going to get them pretty good as well. The kid really hasnt had a consistent shot to succeed at the major league level IMO.

QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 16, 2008 -> 05:20 PM) Perhaps ISU can get a good 1-AA coach. There are plenty of good coaches who come from 1-AA schools. Also there are several coordinators that are looking to move up the ranks as well. -
Official Recruiting Thread II

QUOTE (JuiceCruz16 @ Dec 15, 2008 -> 01:11 PM) Cheek makes it official and decides on Villanova. This will put the Wildcats at the top of the list ahead of North Carolina for the #1 incoming class in the nation next year. Big time talent, but a sketchy recruiting process. Jay Wright is having a stellar year for Nova on the recruiting trail though. Ah everyone knows 2010 is the real year to look forward to. On another note, Jamel Turner committed to the Bucks today. Good get for 2010 (football). Gonna take alot to compare to the 2009 class. -
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 16, 2008 -> 01:17 PM) I'd be fine with trading Owens and not signing Taveras and having Pie compete with Anderson going into spring training. Pie's upside as a hitter is exponentially bigger then that of Taveras and Owens combined. Pie will also only be 24 when the season starts. He was decent in AAA last season as a leadoff guy, but he is a plus defender in CF and could be a force at the bottom of the order. He also has alot more power than Owens does.

Little Animal 3 time all american. Another tree in Buckeye Grove -
Heisman has to be dead last on that list. It basically relegates you to has-been status or an NFL bench.

There are much better pitchers than Haeger that can be had for roughly the same price and can eat up better innings.

I think OC signs with the A's or Dodgers. Secondly, I wonder what happens with Andruw Jones.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 16, 2008 -> 11:18 AM) Heroes story line has been brilliant. It may be complicated but its a treat for those who stay up with it and see how its developing. Finale sucked, mostly because they NEVER can give me answers and must make me wait until after the Super Bowl. f*** yourself Heroes. I do like that Peter got his powers back. Not sure what that power is that Ando is sporting though.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 16, 2008 -> 12:52 PM) But would you rather have Pie as your starting center fielder and leadoff hitter than Taveras? That's the real question, not who would you rather have on your roster. PS I'm also surprised we haven't heard more talk of someone asking the Cubs to take a huge chunk of Fukudome's deal...which would give them more flexibility to sign Bradley, who the Rays apparently also covet. I'd rather have Pie on my roster than taveras. Pie can put it together at the MLB level, he RAKED in the minors and i think needs to get out of that fishbowl that is the cubs.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 16, 2008 -> 12:13 PM) Whoppers are quite good if the burger isn't overdone and dried out. I can't do the Special Sauce on Big Macs. Quarter Pounder w/Cheese is easily my favorite of the three. DQPC for me. I actually prefer Wendy's burgers of the "national chains". It doesnt get much better than a big bacon classic or a JBC

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 16, 2008 -> 12:17 PM) Well, there are certainly different kinds of broken legs. It appears this is a stress fracture with a 4-6 week healing time frame, compared to something like Jermaine Dye's horrific foul ball, there's no relationship between the two injuries. However, these types of injuries (like shin splints or hamstrings or groin pulls/adductor muscle) are ALWAYS a concern for a player whose primary "plus" skill is his speed and fielding ability. That said, there's certainly no harm in having another option in camp. At least we already have Wise and Anderson as "insurance", but Wise is definitely not a CFer by any stretch of the imagination. I know a lot of people would prefer Anderson as the everyday player, and I would probably agree with it, were it not for the fact that we don't have any leadoff hitter on the roster that's currently better suited for the position than Owens and possibly Lillibridge. The Cubs signing Gathright and dumping Pie eventually is further proof of the value of someone in that role. I'd rather have Pie than Gathright and Taveras.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Dec 16, 2008 -> 11:01 AM) I was driving from New York to Hartford over the summer for work. I received an emergency call near Bridgeport, and I had to pull off and look for Wifi to connect in. Went to a McDonalds there for the Wifi, and they had a Angus Burger. Probably the best McDonalds burger I have tasted. Its a testing location for it. And they haven't brought it here yet. I have been haunted by it ever since. http://www.slashfood.com/2007/03/08/new-an...s-at-mcdonalds/ The McD's in Oakbrook usually tests alot of foods since its right next to the headquarters.

QUOTE (juddling @ Dec 16, 2008 -> 10:46 AM) I don't think most BK's around are gross but i think they always have the slowest workers/lines/drive-thru lanes. It's maddening most times. The one closest to me is gross, probably ruined my judgment a little.

Blackhawks step up for Dale Tallon
RockRaines replied to scenario's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Im wondering which player spearheaded this movement. If it was the young captain then I am even more impressed. Maybe I should read the article first. it said they were told by mgmt. -
A nicely cooked Whopper beats up in the Big Mac IMO, but I've found that most BK's in Chicago are really gross. Best Whopper I've ever had: McKarron airport, 2pm, after not eating for 2 days.

Well, that seals it. Soxtalk outing in Vegas.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 15, 2008 -> 05:20 PM) Abreu wants an insane amount of money. Doesn't look like an option for a rebuilding team. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/8945572...-Angels-uniform He's not going to get near that number. I want alot of things I wont get too.

It was pretty generous to put the Buckeyes in the top 25, but lets not start getting all crazy and keep moving them up. Just keep them right there please. -
QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Dec 15, 2008 -> 05:10 PM) Unless Furcal's agent leaked that A's rumor to try to get KW to go to 4 years. I wouldnt bet on it.
