I didnt react as harshly to these commercials as the critics, but when I do see them I think they are rather simple. Personally I LOVE big macs, but I dont mind eating Whoppers.

A nicely cooked Whopper beats up in the Big Mac IMO, but I've found that most BK's in Chicago are really gross.

 

Best Whopper I've ever had: McKarron airport, 2pm, after not eating for 2 days.

I don't think most BK's around are gross but i think they always have the slowest workers/lines/drive-thru lanes. It's maddening most times.

I was driving from New York to Hartford over the summer for work. I received an emergency call near Bridgeport, and I had to pull off and look for Wifi to connect in. Went to a McDonalds there for the Wifi, and they had a Angus Burger. Probably the best McDonalds burger I have tasted. Its a testing location for it. And they haven't brought it here yet. I have been haunted by it ever since.

The one closest to me is gross, probably ruined my judgment a little.

The McD's in Oakbrook usually tests alot of foods since its right next to the headquarters.

Honestly, I don't think it's fair to compare the two sandwiches. Other than the burger and the bun, they are totally different.

 

They should have compared a Whopper and a Big N' Tasty or something like that. At least they have similiar toppings.

 

Anyone else remember when BK brought out something called the Big King which was basically a Big Mac with a BK burger? It didn't last long.

Why would someone who has absolutely no credibilty or experience in the subject be a more influential voice than an american who tastes hundreds of burgers? What are they trying to say? Oh, the problem is you all know what a burger is and have comparisons to know ours tastes like s***! If you knew nothing you would prefer us!

Whoppers are quite good if the burger isn't overdone and dried out. I can't do the Special Sauce on Big Macs. Quarter Pounder w/Cheese is easily my favorite of the three.

My only reaction when I first saw this commercial was "either would give the villagers terrible diarrhea" because their bodies certainly would not be used to fast food.

Whoppers>Big Macs.

I actually prefer Wendy's burgers of the "national chains". It doesnt get much better than a big bacon classic or a JBC

Big Macs would be less "tasty" to "burger virgins" because they have thousand island dressing on them which can taste sour to a first time eater.

They also have the best fries.

Getting back to the ads, it does seem to be exploitative. I'm not outraged, but mildly uncomfortable. But they are, in a way, just actors playing a role.

Why'd Wendy's get rid of the Big Bacon Classic in favor of the Baconator? The Baconator sucks, it's like half a dead pig on a cheeseburger with no other ingredients. If I wanted that much bacon I'd just go to Bob Evans.

I couldnt agree with you more. I am no meat-atarian I guess, because its just too much beef and bacon, it just tastes like grease and cheese.

 

I always tell them to add lettuce tomato and onion, or at one Wendys I go to I ask for the Big Bacon Classic and they make it the old way. But I am pretty much done with the baconator

I was thinking of this a few weeks ago. Loved their burgers. The one in Waukegan is now a Rally's.
