  1. So I have had the same LCD projection TV for about 5 years now. Of course I bought the extended warranty which just so happened to expire last year. I have never had a problem with the unit, its a Hitachi 50in model. Of course lately the fan has sounded like its run by a diesel engine and now this morning my picture has taken on a reddish hue on every channel. My problem is this: Do I spend several hundred dollars to have it serviced or replace the bulb, or do I just dig deep and replace it with a shiny new 52in LCD from Sammy or Sharp. I figure ill make a decision by tonight, because I hate when things arent working correctly. I mean, in this day and age, what are you supposed to do with technology that is somewhat affordable and also keeps putting your current purchases out of date?
  2. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Jul 12, 2008 -> 10:26 PM) Is there any way to or can wool hats be stretched after shrinking?? If so, how? I got soaked in the rain and my cap shrunk to a much tighter fit than I prefer... Stretch it on the bottom of a sauce pan.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 05:08 PM) BS. Uribe never bought me dinner. A couple of cocktails, but no dinner, and I liked him before that. In fact, just about everyone did. I just remain loyal, just like I'm sure you are with Fields, Richar, Owens and Broadway. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...p;#entry1617018 You even state that it is what influenced you to be biased with him.
  4. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 08:57 PM) instead of saying this team is dead after every single loss...do people ever stop and consider that maybe its losing that makes a team look dead, and not the other way around? or the offense looks better when people get on base.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 10:12 AM) This thread turned into something great. Just wanted to say that, lots of nostalgia for me Im going to go ahead and take credit for bringing up the games. I just cant fathom all these young kids I see just wailing away at their PSP's or fighting with their parents, or even just watching TV. I used to get PISSED at my parents if they would let me outside, let me ride my bike, let me catch toads or play tag. Shoot, anything I could do outside, I wanted to do.
  7. QUOTE (jackie hayes @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 03:51 PM) New on rotoworld! This is awesome. "They would rather trade him or make him Aaron Rodgers' backup." Priceless. Way to s*** on the poster boy of your franchise.
  8. QUOTE (ChiSox35 @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 05:20 PM) Now you can lose even in death! what a f***in loser.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 03:06 PM) That's my guy too. I'm the Father Flanagan of this board. I take all the guys no one else wants and the players everyone likes I have my doubts about. Not really. You only like Uribe because he bought you dinner once.
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 09:38 AM) Yeah, 'cause its been terrible having a guy hitting there with a .288 average, rarely striking out and being able to hit to all fields. Awful. Must be the problem. Before everyone goes into a panic over one damn game, look at the numbers. This offense, since mid-May, has been quite good. We just took 2 of 3 on the road from a KC team that is NOT as bad as previous years' teams. There is no need to be making big changes at this point. Ah I love the cherry picking. I see you could only focus on his BA because you didn't want to look at his .305 obp or his .709 ops in the 2 hole. He has also been striking out at a higher rate in that slot than before and also walking and hitting at a lower rate. He also has had less doubles in twice as many at bats. It was a good spot for him while the middle was struggling and he was hot, but its time to get someone in there that gets on base and move aj down. Case in point was Q's homers wed, both 2 run blasts because swish was able to get on base twice. And nobody is reacting irrationally to a series win on the road, maybe YOU are, but I have mentioned this several times over the last few weeks. Every lineup needs tinkering and I think this is a move that needs to be done for the team and the player.
  11. First order of business, move AJP out of the 2-hole
  12. I emailed ozzie about taking AJP out of the 2 hole. He's been scuffling there.
  13. QUOTE (robin23 @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 07:29 PM) Thank you very much. Hey, welcome to Soxtalk. Good SN.
  14. AJP in the 2 hole .288 .312 .412 .724 41 games Its time to move him. I'd like to see Swish hitting 2nd with his patience and OBP in front of Q and Dye.
  15. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 06:17 PM) If you're not over it yet, read the replies to Cowley's 'Cabrera Island' article in the Sun-Times today. Good stuff. Classic. He writes responses to the comments like a little kid. Not unlike the one word responses I have received from him on email as well.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 04:08 PM) Holy crap! We used to play this all night when we were young. I remember how I was making a move to the safe point, or whatever we called it, and I had a clear path. So I went across our neighbors driveway but they had motion detectors on their lights and set it on and got caught. Almost flashlight tag-ish there. Which was also a good game. I have fond memories off being at a full sprint down the sidewalk at night ready to kick the s*** out of the can to set everyone free. We mustve had 20-30 neighborhood kids playing every night. Our parents loved it. We were safe on the block, we came home tired, and we got exercise.
  17. BTW, LOL at Morrissey on CTL today. He suggested that the Cubs could have made a better offer for CC with Theriot as the centerpiece. "Well he's hitting .300."
  18. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 04:01 PM) at 31 years old he should have already learned and adjusted to where his book isn't that big. Something about old dog and new tricks..... Not when he was only facing Japanese pitching, which isnt as good, nor as hard to hit as MLB pitching.
  19. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 03:02 PM) I am part of the anti-stimulus package. I don't get this, but I do get a large tax increase next year if Obama is a man of his word. Count me in on that group. Im loving it. The 10.25 sales tax in cook county was a great early bday present.

QUOTE (vandy125 @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 03:40 PM) It's good to see kids actually playing outside. We used to play all kinds of games outside wiffleball, throwing the football around, roller hockey in the street, etc. Not sure why I don't see that around anymore. Is it because of the sue craziness of our culture? I spent every waking moment of my summers outside playing tag, baseball, basketball, soccer, kick the can, ghosts the grave yard. Kids now arent allowed outside, or allowed to play certain things. And people wonder why our culture is overweight.
  22. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 03:16 PM) Fukodome 0-5 with 3 k's Other than OBP Alexi Ramirez is a better player in just about every facet of the game. Reds with 7 homeruns today. The book is out on Fuk right now, now you have to see if he adjusts.
  23. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 03:36 PM) Boone Logan hates the press? Ah, I was thinking he was talking about Baj again
  24. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 11:44 AM) For how "good" the Cubs are, the Sox are only 3 games over worse then them. And they have played the pirates how many more times than we have?
  25. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 01:00 PM) I spent it on stimuli. Actually, didn't get one. Jerks. I dont qualify either. Its BS
