  1. The worst part about that article is our interest in Eckstein. I cant believe people actually think this is a good idea.
  2. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Oct 31, 2007 -> 11:10 PM) Good point lol I'm still disappointed you weren't online last night and we couldn't fight. We could have provided some good early morning reading for the rest of our college football bretheren. Oh well, moods subside, so I will go back to being a normal irrational, yell at the TV, plan my week around this week's game fan. I'm just disappointed that ABC picked up Michigan at 2:30 because that conflicts with the 4:00 LSU - Bama kickoff. I can either watch the UM game later, or choose to stay at home by myself and skip out on what should be a lot of fun in a really electric atmosphere in a good sports bar! One of these nights. Maybe during THE GAME we can slug it out in chat. I would watch the beginning of the UM game then hightail it out to watch SEC madness. Thats got to be a good time down there.
  3. The Lakers are in no position to dictate the trade. We are a playoff team either way, and they probably arent. If they want to hold on to Kobe who hates playing for them, go ahead.
  4. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Oct 31, 2007 -> 02:19 PM) got my illinois-osu tix today. Ill be there too big guy!!!
  5. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Oct 31, 2007 -> 10:26 PM) I'll take the fact you completely skipped past the parts where you were wrong and went straight ahead to zeroing in on the game in three weeks as an admission of guilt. As far as the game in three weeks, I like our chances. I certainly wouldn't call myself confident, because that is not my nature. If I am confident, I am confident quietly, nervously. I was just in the mood to pick a fight last night. The fact remains that OSU has to come to the Big House and Michigan is on the verge of playing the way they should have from week 1. Ask me in two weeks and maybe I will be more confident, but I doubt it. Bottom line is I am confident in the direction UM is headed and they are playing much, much better football. Nah, I skipped it because no matter what, I will never agree with you and vice versa. Its just the way of the sports world. I think we can both agree that each of our teams is better than the others. When OSU and UM fans start agreeing on this subject, its when you know some ghostbuster out there has crossed the streams.
  6. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Oct 31, 2007 -> 06:49 AM) Man I was fiesty last night. Anybody ready to go 15 rounds??? I wont even respond to your Maize and Blue blabbering. If UM ends up a top 5 team I will hereby bestow some free tix on you this upcoming season. But if you'd like a side bet on the OSUvUM game, im up on that too. You cant be too confident with the thrashing you have taken the last several years.
  7. I hope everyone is aware that we basically have until Uribe's deadline to make a move. KW is only waiting that long because he is trying to see what he can get to play SS. I would say any big splash we make at that position will happen in the next several days.
  8. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 08:22 PM) I don't disagree. I was just comparing the two as players. Furcal fits our needs much better with defense and with a lead off hitter. Tejada is not a fit whatsoever.
  9. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 11:45 AM) I'd be very happy to land Furcal. He answers our two most blatant questions of SS and leadoff. I get the feeling that KW is going hard after him under the radar. He knows he is a good fit, and he knows we can get him somewhat cheaply because of his contract and the Dodgers young talent.
  10. QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 09:45 AM) I just wish they would quietly not get involved instead of this being the first thing we hear from them every off season. I wouldnt deal with this ridiculous salary either, just stop making it sound like everything they do is based on money. Geez I'm tired of that Its over 30 million a year. EVERY team is making this decision based on money.
  11. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 12:25 AM) It hurts the depth at forward immensely, but if all it takes is Gordon, Noah, Thomas and a first, I'll drive the three guys to the airport myself. I know the Bulls' first rounders for the foreseeable future don't figure to be great picks, but if need be, the Bulls should be willing to throw in an extra first rounder or two if that's what it takes to get the deal done. If they make this deal, that will ensure my being at the Bradley Center this Saturday (which I know you all care about). Plus there is a decent free agent class of big men this upcoming offseason correct?
  12. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 09:54 PM) Why is that too high? Other teams have been losing left and right. Michigan has won seven in a row. I don't see how you can just eliminate Michigan solely because of their start. USC lost in a game where they were favored by more than 40 points, the largest such spread in college football history, yet they only fall a few places. Michigan is far from the team that started this season. I know they have no chance at a National Championship, but a Big Ten Championship is a real possibility and they could end up in the Top 5 when all is said and done. One week at a time, but its possible when they start clicking on all cylinders and have a healthy Henne and Hart. Funny, I dont recall ever mentioning USC. Their jump from 20-12 was a little much. Teams like Hawaii, UCONN, Bame and Texas should have been above them. There was no reason for Mich to leapfrog teams that also played well and won. And every team in the nation is not the same team that started the season. If they played App St right now they would probably smoke them. And Henne is pretty much the same player Navarre was. He was better earlier, which made for alot of his hype.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 10:43 PM) I still say we bring back the deal everyone wanted mid 06...Fields for Linebrink. Get it done KW! I think I just threw up a little.
  14. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 08:53 AM) Drive the price up really high and hurt a team financially for being stupid. The owners and GM's are the fools for tripping over themselves to pony up the cash. Keep your hat in the ring and cost the Angels another $50M that they can not spend next offseason. The sad thing about his quote is losing 90 games at he current price will drive away the common fan much quicker than the price of winning. It was never going to be us driving up the price. There are maybe 4 teams in all of baseball that can afford his contract, and its no secret that we arent one of them.
  15. QUOTE(rockren @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 06:26 AM) It's comments like these that make me hate KW. He's just too candid for his own good sometimes and ends up sounding like an ass-bag. So him saying that the ridiculous number they are asking for is ridiculous makes him an ass-bag?
  16. QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 07:28 PM) two of the last three osi-ill games were really close. Last year it was a primetime national evening game. I don't think its a primer for osu-mich, I think it has enough of a draw on its own. And as for the Big Ten production value - can you honestly say that Comcast is better? I can't stand the ACC and PAC-10 games they produce - it looks very amateurish. I've been pretty impressed with BTN so far. considering they're working on what, their 12th week on the job? Take away Di Retardo from the expert desk and they'd be even better. Comcast doesnt carry BTN,. thats why we are pissed
  17. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 04:50 PM) And...saving a lot of money that could be spent in other places (resigning Tex?), and getting an OF that could in a couple years take over the hole being left by Jones....that's not a bad formula. Between Jones walking and Renteria traded...the Braves have freed up at least $20 million in salary compared to 07, depending on what exactly happens with all the money Boston sent over with Renteria. Thats what this could hinge on, what they do with the money saved.
  18. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 04:30 PM) Maybe you stopped reading after the first line. I explained how those prospects were better than almost all of our system. Insight isn't just a bowl game. ATL gave up Marte for two years of Renteria and two very good prospects... Sounds like they didn't get raped to me. Great. Our system is garbage, what kind of comparison is that? They didnt get equal value for what they gave up, is that an ok analogy for you? If it accompanies other moves, then it may even out which it looks like was their focus from the get go. From a standpoint of player for player, they got the short end of the stick based on Edgar's production this season. Of course if he reverts back to AL Edgar and JJ can be a productive 3rd of 4th starter this season, then they make look like geniuses. I dont put much stock in this kid staying healthy however. And I dont need the snide remarks every time you respond to my posts. Its just not necessary and is quite juvenile.
  19. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 04:25 PM) Whatever, Jurjens stalker. damn Bucktown hipster
  20. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 04:18 PM) Michigan up to #12 in the BCS, if only had the made the last field goal against App St., still surprising even though this year is been full of upsets. Absolutely too high in the polls for them to be. Check out their computer rankings vs some of the people they are above. They shouldnt have cracked the top 15
  21. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 04:17 PM) Construct a package of White Sox prospects better than what the Tigers gave up and get back to me... Here's how I would rate the two players they gave up were they in our system... Gio DLS Jurrjens Carter Poreda Hernandez Sweeney Eggy Shelby Jurrjens upside is said to be a 3rd starter at best. Its pretty easy, find out spects that top out at third starter potential. Couple that his already balky shoulder in his early 20's and he is not exactly the best spec. He is a good one, ill give you that, but not nearly worth Renteria's production. ATL gave up too much for what they got in return looking at their lineup and what they lost. Now if that extra money allows them to sign someone else, then it wont be such a bad trade. If you like, I can cite actual experts opinions on it as it comes out as well. Maybe that will at least give some better insight than "your ignorance is showing."
  22. How can anyone say that someone is jumping off the Hawks bandwagon? Anyone who take ANY interest in the Hawks at all is not a bandwagon fan. They arent even close to that point yet.
  23. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 04:04 PM) Your ignance is showing.... Really? A young unproven pitcher with a bad rotator cuff and a 3rd starter upside and a "toolsy" Of'er for a proven MLB SS who had a great year isnt getting raped? They certainly didnt win the deal.
  24. Not ever going to happen, he was just throwing a name out there.
  25. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 03:49 PM) 3rd place? That's actually pretty positive if you ask me. You know... for that price... MAN, renteria would have been nice. Yes, because Minny should be awful this year IMO. Renteria would have solved a top of the order hole, and one at SS.
