QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 01:32 PM) Of course he did. That's what dominating pitchers do. I'm sure if Lance Broadway were pitching against Oakland, the line would be 2IP, 6 hits, 4 ER's. apples and oranges man. Broadway was drafted last year. Why dont we compare BMAC and Liriano?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 08:56 AM) Thom Brennaman? He creeps me out because his voice does not match the size of his head. Yeah, without placing him on TV, hes pretty good behind the mic. Mark Grace is terrible though, but Tom really picks up the slack. I would actually like to have him on the radio with Farmer doing color.

You know who I really like, the guy who does the Diamondback games.

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 08:31 AM) We should have kept Borchard rather than Ozuna. I think we can only hope against hope that the adventures of Matt Thornton don't blow up in our face at the wrong time. But, that trade aside ole Pablo couldn't catch a fly with a bottle of syrup. Matt Thornton is fall more valuable than Borchard at this point IMO.

QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 03:11 PM) According to Santo, Howry made a brilliant pitch... the likes of which would have foiled the great babe ruth himself... ... but austin kearns just got lucky Then a confused Santo called his team the Cincinnati Cubs and recalled his days hanging out with Grandpa Simpson in the ole canteen in 1921 wearing an onion on his belt, as was the style at the time.... Santo was probably too busy yelling, OH no, OH no.

QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 09:39 PM) They may be good and all, but where are they going to get the money from to lock up this young talent when they reach FA in a few years? They dont, they trade them before their become FA's and rebuild with prospects. This is the model you have to follow when you are small market.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 01:15 AM) Ok this thread is going to be for backup outfielders, that could be on the 25 man roster, if Ozzie Guillen is not going to use Ross Gload in the OF again, or so Pablo Ozuna doesn't have to play LF again. Of course, this isn't likely going to happen, but I thought I'd just put it out there, and get people's thoughts on this. Dustan Mohr - Mohr's down in Pawtucket, the AAA team of the Red Sox. Can play all 3 OF positions, and had a .274/.394/.437 season back in 2004 for the Giants. Doesn't expect to be down in AAA long; Joey Gathright - On the bench for Tampa. Probably won't be available, unless we give up something good for him. Luis Terrero - Was designated for assignment by the D-Backs a little while back. But it looks like the O's are gonna get him; Scott Hairston - Currently with the D'backs AAA team. Can play 2B, or LF or RF, IIRC. Hit .311/.384/.608 for Tucson last season. Ryan Church - Currently in Frank Robinson's doghouse (hence why Brandon Watson is starting). Dustin Mohr is starting in CF for the Red Sox off and on. Gathright isnt really available and he really isnt that great of a player.

A Diamond in the Rough? The Thornton Thread

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 14, 2006 -> 01:11 AM) Shoeneweis threw 93-94. He could bring it for a lefty. I have yet to see thornton hit 100+ on the gun. Eh, I recall watching him in person many many times and he was a low 90's 90-92 MPH on a good day. Thornton even hit 99 on the gun yesterday. He is much more talented in the stuff dept. -
Seriously kill this thread. This kid is a homo.

QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 07:35 PM) The Sox should have traded Garland last offseason when his trade value was at an all-time high to bolster the bullpen and make way for Brandon McCarthy in the rotation. Instead, they signed him to a rather large contract for a pitcher thats been average throughout his career (the exception being 2005). I hope that Garland does well, and rebounds from his first two starts in 2005 fashion, but I just don't see it happening. He should rebound, yes, but I doubt it will be anywhere near as good as he was in '05. Expect his numbers to be around where they were in 2002 and 2003. hahahaha, ok man. Then our bullpen would be shot, and we would be out a solid starter. Im glad you arent the GM. I will make sure to tell Garland that his season is over after 2 starts, he might as well retire for the season.

A Diamond in the Rough? The Thornton Thread

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 03:50 PM) Reminds me of Schoenweiss or however you spelled the name. with about 10 mph on his fastball I said it when I saw his first outing in ST. The guy has some nasty stuff, if he only attacks the strike zone, he will be tough to hit. Its hard to square up his first fastball, so theres strike one, then he can challenge the hitters from there. -
AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!!!!!&#

QUOTE(Soxfest @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 01:30 PM) Soft-tosser = Pitcher with strikeout ratio of 5.0 or less sunshine. Your comment above speaks volumes. I cant even believe im going to do this, but I will have to cite the baseball dictionary on this one tough guy http://www.enlexica.com/cgi-bin/find.cgi?v...sser&d=spbb&s=Q thanks for playing. -
