  1. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 12:17 AM) That quote's just plain erroneous. Anyone who knows Brokeback knows it's not about front running... It's about coming from behind. oh jesus, quote of the month.
  2. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 4, 2006 -> 06:00 PM) Who? the guy who sent the malicious code.
  3. There is no doubt that he is hurt more than they are reporting. He is doing drills and throwing off flat surface, which implies he has some sort of soreness in the arm.
  4. QUOTE(My Dixie Normus @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) First, let me say hello. Nifty little site yall have here. Been a Sox fan since before it was fashionable to be so. My early years were in the Veeck days. I respect the Cubs fans that are actual baseball fans... both of them. I have 4 seats in the outfield near the Sox Pen. In the last 15 years I have seen about 40 games a year. I am headed to Arizona tomorrow for two days. Looking forward to another great season. Anyway, what is the poop on Owens? I read early on that Ozzie was pretty high on this kid for his speed. Is Anderson just a fore gone conclusion or does Owens have a shot? Owens doesnt play CF. So yes, Anderson is the starter.
  5. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 10:04 AM) What a terrible argument. The whole premise is that "Moneyball" doesn't work and that the Sox won because they didn't use "Moneyball". "Moneyball" isn't sabermetrics, I really wish writers would realize that. "Moneyball" is about maximizing market inefficiencies--and sabermetrics is just one component of that stragegy. Like Kennie said about Frank, "look it up"--ok, I will: Average Wins Last 4 Seasons for A's and Sox (Kenny Williams "Era"): Sox: 86.4 A's: 96 How does this guy even have a job? Maybe it's just insanely possible that both Kenny Williams and Billy Beane are good GM's. Maybe by one objective measure (w/l) you could say Beane is better. Maybe be another one you could say (rings) that KW is the better GM. This is crap and the Washington Post should fire this guy for ignorance. Sweet argument. I looked up an even better stat. Sox: 1 World Championship A's: 0
  6. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 11:10 PM) Kerry Wood has had arm problems throughout his entire career, and has never been as successful as Felix has. He hasnt pitched a full year yet dude. Why the man-crush on felix?
  7. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 04:14 PM) crazyman = bizanned. what a waste of a screen name. Good riddance.
  8. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 10:21 PM) Felix isn't top 20 because he hasn't had the chance at the ML level yet. Give him a year or 2 in the bigs before you start putting labels on him. At 19, Pujols wasn't even close to the bigs. The only reason you can say he was a top 20 hitter from the start of his career was because he was brought up at the beginning of the 2001 season, and played everyday for the entire season. Give Felix the chance to play a full season. You do realize that with Felix Hernandez, you get a player that could break every pitching record there is, right? At the age of 19, he came up and baffled hitters with a 99 MPH fastball, a wicked curve, and a wicked change to the tune of a 2.67, a 1.00 WHIP, and a better than 3/1 K/BB ratio in 84 1/3 innings last year, and that was all without the use of his best pitch (a filthy 90 MPH slider, which the Mariners refuse to let him throw until 2007). So, am I going to take a 20 year old ace, or a 25 year old bopper in a game where good (or in Felix's case, great) pitching usually beats good hitting? I'm taking the 20 year old ace every time. he could, he might, talent, talent talent. SOunds like Kerry Wood to me. I'd rather take Pujols.
  9. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 03:42 AM) Because of his unbelievable talent, and the fact that he's only 20, so you could get 2 decades or more of solid pitching from him. As for unproven, he did go 84 innings last year with a sub 3 ERA. Not bad for a 19 year old. Pujols is great, but we have a 1B and a DH, so unless you want to move him back to 3B, Felix is the better idea IMO. Miguel Cabrera runs a close second though. Felix isnt close to the player that Pujols is. Pujols is the best hitter in the game. Felix isnt even top 20 for pitchers.
  10. I am more than impressed with Fields' stroke. He really looks impressive on offense.
  11. QUOTE(crazyman26 @ Mar 4, 2006 -> 06:04 PM) At what point in the new year will Rex cease to be the starting QB on the field in some way, injury, replaced, whatever.....You know it will happen, after all in 3 NFL seasons he has yet to start more than 3 games because he is obviously too weak to ever be a starting QB in the NFL. So when will he be off the field as starting QB, and how, this poll will give you several options: Seriously, go away.
  12. QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ Mar 4, 2006 -> 06:43 PM) They count for NOTHING. They sucked ass last spring too. O RLY? I thought they were about .500 I watched every game last ST, and this team looks sloppy and slower than last years team.
  13. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Mar 3, 2006 -> 04:32 PM) If you could take any player from any team and put them on the White Sox, factoring in age and ignoring salary, who would it be? For me, it would be Felix Hernandez. A 19 (soon to be 20) year old pitcher who is that talented and already good enough to post a sub 3 ERA in the AL doesn't come along that often. If anyone decides to post something like: "Who cares, it can't happen anyway", or something along those lines, here's your response: I told you in the topic subtitle that if you didn't want to answer the question to not even bother looking at the thread, so :finger Umm, Albert Pujols bar none. I dont know why you would have picked a unproven rookie when you could pick the best hitter in the game.
  14. Im still dissapointed with the lack of fundamentals we are showing on defense, and the lack of control by the pitchers. Granted the games dont count. But in some way they do count, and we are getting crushed.
  15. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 4, 2006 -> 04:03 PM) There's the Baj we all know. Giving up LONG homeruns. he has the straightest fastball in the league.
  16. even the defense of our real players looked crappy.
  17. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 4, 2006 -> 02:52 PM) I've never been this OK with being down 7-0 before. im not really ok with it
  18. looks like they told brandon to focus on the fastball and changeup. He has throw about 2 curves.
  19. looks like we are already down 0-2
  20. Ozzie said they were going to hack and get the game over quickly. And they did.
  21. they are laughing at how ridiculous the swings are
