QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 11:00 AM) Well, when you're hitting directly in front of 3 guys who may very well hit 120+ home runs between the 3 of them this season, it does raise the importance. Well, according to our manager, the #2 hitter should be able to sacrafice himself to get our leadoff hitter into scoring position. At that point, in that situation, you arent playing for a HR, you are playing for a sac fly.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 09:52 AM) I'd recommend the Wrangler. Being an owner of 3 consecutive Jeep vehicles, I will never purchase one again.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 09:55 AM) Our Bullpen is rated too highly right now, imo. And our defense too low.

AJP was on Mike and Mike this morning and he said the best move we made in the offseason was bring back Konerko. He said when he trots out on the field with a C on his jersey, the crowd and the team will go crazy.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 09:33 AM) Kyle Orton went 10-3 as a starter... Josh, is that you?

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 09:26 AM) I wouldn't put streak that in Dye's lap. Nothing on Dye, he's exactly what we need in RF and the 5 slot, but he just isn't in the same league as a 3-hitter that Thome is (assuming Thome is healhty). Very true, but over his career, out of the 3, 4, 5 spots, batting 5th has been his weakest.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 01:21 AM) Unfortunately, Uribe's OBP is more important than his ability to make productive outs when it comes to scoring runs. Why is that Jabroni? Wouldnt a ground out to move the runner from 2nd to third be a productive out that must be achieved by your #2 hitter? Why is his OBP so important? Gooch's wasnt that great for a #2 hitter, but he was one of the best we have seen on the sox.

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 10:52 PM) Ok, so first move he makes you disagree with I want an explanation. It can involve the sun and moon, but I need something. How is 260 at bats not enough to judge someone? Thats about half a season.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 08:59 AM) There is no good reason to bat Dye 3rd. Thome and Konerko are both far better hitters than he is. The only argument being made here is that Dye batted 3rd last season - well, that was true because we didn't have Jim Thome (we had Jurassic Carl). With Thome in there, he makes the most sense, and Williams has said so. I think his good reason to think that is because the 16-1 tear we went on with Dye in the 3-hole.

QUOTE(rventura23 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 04:40 PM) you know what food is surprisingly good and never has a line, the roast beef sandwiches. Although I love the polish, I found that after going to several games a week towards the end of last year and during the playoffs, the roast beef sandwiches with chips and a pickle was quite the dinner (polish for a snack) Corned beef not as good I agree that stand is a hidden treasure and just a short stroll from my seats, but I prefer the corned beef.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 04:01 PM) Boz, Barrons is the way to go. This is coming from hearing a lot of people talk about it in my MBA program. Personally, I didn't have to take the exam this time when I got in to grad school since I already have a master's. However, I took the thing back in 1995 - didn't crack a book and I think I got 550's on each IIRC. It's not too bad. Where did you get your MBA?

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 03:52 PM) Boo yuk... Nothing beats the hot dog. Nothing. Polish does.

QUOTE(SnB @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 03:38 PM) c'mon. There's so many other good options that you can only get at the Cell. Why get crappy stale pizza? Brats w/ onions? Dogs w/ onions? C'mon, those really are the only real choices. The pizza is good. PLus those arent the only real options Hot corn beef stand section 113. Corn off the cobb section 116. Steak Sandwich, and pita.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 02:35 PM) With the Rockies, Uribe started 67 games in 2001, 150 games in 2002, and 80 games in 2003. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stat...ontext=fielding So Uribe was actually a full-time starter for the Rockies in 2002. thanks for the info jabroni, but I really wasnt researching how many games he started.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 02:12 PM) Alrighty. Well I believe a lot of those Uribe numbers were padded during his amazing 2004 start of the season while he hit 2nd, but that's still a very interesting stat. Yeah but adding in his career stats would skew it the other way because he was a reserve in Col.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 02:03 PM) Is that lifetime or just last year? (obviously Gooch was a rookie, but you see my point). How many AB's do each guy have in the 2 spot that lead to those stats? Just curious. Gooch had 507 at bats Uribes was from 2004 260 at bats, he has around 585 career at bats in the 2 hole.

Left-handed pitcher Rusty Tucker is designated for reassignment. The announcement was made by GM Kevin Towers. He's 25 and appeared in relief for Double-A Mobile last season, going 3-2, with a 5.31 ERA in 52 games. His five-year career stats in the minors: 12-15, 4.23 ERA, 56 saves in 206 appearances.

If you google him, all you come up with with OOTPB profiles.

QUOTE(rangercal @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 01:50 PM) how did u manage to do that? I'm pretty sure their is a 2 ticket limit to opening day and the cubs games. That's 2 tickets combined. Expect some of your orders not going through. I'm just going by what my ticket rep said and the emails. Hopefully it works for you. I believe it was 2 tickets per game limit.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 10:57 AM) Ill bet you 1000 dollarsyou never met the guy. Just looking at his player card online. Never met the guy. And if you think that Cotts is 6'0", then Rowand may be shorter than his listed 6'0" as well. Yeah, he def is. Cotts is about my height, I would say, i think A-row is shorter than 6'. Just an oberservation that they werent standing together.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 11:20 AM) Just saying. Last year, we complain about not getting enough good press and that attendance wasn't good enough. Now we're complaining that we're getting too much good press and we can't get a good ticket. Of course this is to a lighter degree. Im not complaining. The only UD tickets that I will use is opening day. I bought the rest to unload. I sit in the lower bowl and I am happy that I do. On the attendance note, i have said all along I like it better when the park is empty, but thats just me.
