  1. QUOTE (farmteam @ Oct 3, 2015 -> 09:29 AM) I just assumed this was one of those things that went on to some degree at every Power 5 school. Not every school has the "talent" that exists in the SEC
  2. QUOTE (zenryan @ Oct 3, 2015 -> 12:21 AM) Louisville fans already saying pics of the girl with players don't mean anything lol Well it's something that's been going on in SEC football recruiting for a long time. Though they call them "hostesses"
  3. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 05:18 PM) Teams find reliable kickers every year as FA's, UDFA's and in the draft. Use the 6th round pick on a rookie. Gould isn't worth $3m a year. Eh, its not that common to find one of the all time most accurate kickers as a FA every year.
  4. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 1, 2015 -> 07:02 AM) Bad luck of rolling through the wrong intersection at the wrong time. I got a ticket for this in Oak Park years ago. Rule of thumb, dont do anything wrong on the roads in oak park.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 01:06 PM) The new system actually has an HD preference feature where when enabled, if you select an SD channel, it automatically takes you to the HD channel instead (if it has one). So if you hit 2 for Chicago CBS, it takes to automatically to CBS Chicago HD's channel. So thats at least better. Nothing drove me crazier than that.
  6. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 12:47 PM) Yeah, we got it back in April and it's so, so nice. I go to someone's house who is on the old platform and it's so painful to navigate and look at. Did you get the new X1 remote yet? We got our a couple months ago and it's even better. The voice recognition is pretty flawless, I've never seen it get a word I've said wrong, and the "illumination-on-movement" buttons is a very nice touch. I always had to turn the remote toward the TV to read some of the keys. It lighting up when you grab it is beautiful. Does Comcast still have the "standard channels" and the HD ones? So if you pressed 2, it would take you to CBS but the standard def?
  7. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 12:31 PM) Makes the trade look even worse right now. I expected Dano to make the team based on Bowman talking about him. There has to be a bigger backstory to that. He played pretty well in preseason.
  8. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 1, 2015 -> 04:19 PM) I've had both Comcast and DirecTV over the years, and I don't notice a difference between the two services. A few years ago, I found DirecTV DVR's superior, but that's no longer the case, they're on par with each other now. As for signal quality and image quality, I couldn't tell a difference these days. 2 years ago when I moved, Directv was far superior, sounds like the gap may have been closed. Directv's picture quality, DVR and overall offering was head and shoulders better. PLus the Comcast constantly increasing bill was annoying as hell. You cant beat that Comcast business class internet though, blazing.
  9. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 1, 2015 -> 10:57 AM) I left AT&T years ago after repeated issues with their service to my home...I went to Comcast/Xfinity, and as annoying and well documented of a s*** company they are...AT&T is *WORSE*. I use Verizon for my cellular service (it's a premium, but it has the network) I use Xfinity for Cable/Internet (sadly, nothing in my area comes close to Xfinity for Internet service) I will not use AT&T for ANYTHING for as long as possible. Speedwise you cant beat comcast for internet so thats what I have. I have directv for tv because its awesome.
  10. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 1, 2015 -> 10:02 AM) That still shouldn't happen unless he turned off WiFi, or the WiFi he's connected too just sucks... I leave that setting on and have never had a problem...as a matter of fact, I LOVE that setting. When I'm a bit too far away from my WiFi when I'm out in the garage, the old way it would remain connected to the WiFi despite getting no actual service from it...this way it drops me to LTE and I can continue using my device without an issue. This isn't the story people are trying to make it...this is simply the result of people putting up with s***ty WiFi and not realizing it until now. TL;DR: WiFi assist is awesome, and I don't know why anyone would disable it instead of fixing their s*** WiFi issue, which is the actual problem. In his case or in other cases when the phone would usually wait for the Wifi signal to get stronger or to come back in (in a basement or yard for example) instead it goes to LTE by default. Not everyone should have that feature turned on when your data plan or wifi sucks.
  11. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 1, 2015 -> 09:43 AM) ND is in good shape against run-first offenses, but their secondary is weak. USC is by far the worst matchup on ND's schedule. The super athletic OLB helps negate a large part of the spread offense's ability to run and pass outside and ND happens to have one of the best in the country. I suspect that he will have a big game against Clemson.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 1, 2015 -> 08:17 AM) That's gonna be a really tough game for them. Death Valley is a very difficult place to play, especially in primetime Without all the injuries I would say ND would have boatraced them, now it could be a nice entertaining game.
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 1, 2015 -> 09:01 AM) Agreed. We know what Clausen is. We need to know what Fales is. My guess is they don't want to be accused of giving up on the season quite yet. My stance completely. I think the roster turnover etc should show that we are trying to see who can hack it moving forward, and Clausen is not one of those.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 09:13 PM) woo hoo 3rd string qb syndrome!! To be fair, Clausen is what he is, we have no idea what Fales is. So its more of a prospect syndrome.
  15. If Cutler is hurt I just want to see Fales play every snap. The guy can sling it a bit and he definitely has more upside than Clausen.
  16. I think since Rodgers fell that year, teams have evaluated players and QB's especially a bit differently. How many teams passed on him just because they weren't "looking" for a QB? He's one of those once in a lifetime type QB's that literally slipped through 22 teams fingers.
  17. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 04:47 PM) Anonymous NFL Draft Scouts Thought Aaron Rodgers Was Just a System Quarterback There are ton of these quotes from scouts. I don't remember any of them saying that Rodgers was only good because of his running game. I do, especially since Alex Smith was his entire team and Cal was carried by their running game. "System QB's" dont have the numbers he had. He only had 24 TD passes, thats 10 less than JT Barrett had last season. I mentioned the other QB's he developed and that was a concern, but what made the take Smith (spread system) over Rodgers (Tedford System) is that they thought Rodgers benefitted from having a stronger team.
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 04:43 PM) The bigger knock on Rodgers was that every Tedford QB that had been drafted in the first round previously was a bust. Trent Dilfer, Akili Smith, David Carr, Joey Harrington, and Kyle Boller all sucked. He absolutely was viewed as a system guy. I disagree. He was viewed as a guy that benefitted from a dominant run game and thats why Alex Smith was the QB ranked ahead of him. Even still he was a first round selection, its not like he fell down under 5 other QB's.
  19. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 04:29 PM) Not sure how that makes you not good. Drew Brees used to throw well over 500 a year. Derek Carr, who is playing pretty well in the NFL right now, threw almost 700 one year. Manning used to throw a lot as well. I was referring more to the "he is a system QB", "his coach makes him good" type stuff that gets thrown at Goff. That was all the same stuff you heard about Rodgers and his coach Jeff Tedford. I think it cases it can be true, but people always want to go to that. I think that is a generic term for Goff right now. Because thats not why Rodgers fell. Goff is a system QB, Rodgers played with arguably one of the best 1-2 RB punches in recent history. The knock on him was that he wasnt enough of the offense.
  20. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 04:06 PM) I'm not comparing the two players, but what you just described is the exact reason Aaron Rodgers fell to the Packers. Goff throws the ball almost 200 more times in a season than Rodgers ever did in college. Tedford, Rodgers college coach, literally was a QB development machine. Dilfer, Volek, Akili Smith, Joey Harrington, AJ Feeley, Boller and Rodgers. The reason Rodgers ended up being the #2 QB in the draft (which isnt bad) is that Cal was so good and Utah literally had nobody else on the team but Alex Smith. Cal had 3 future NFL RB's on roster including Beast Mode. People thought thats why Cal was who they were.
  21. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 02:00 PM) Otterboxes are like putting your iphone in a briefcase and saying it protects it. Sure it does, but who the hell wants to carry that around? same. I use a very slim case that protects the phone but not so much the screen when dropped flat.
  22. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 11:27 AM) Since O'Brien. They are both better offensive minds than O'Brien. They are record setting coaches in the college ranks.
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 10:57 AM) He hasn't shown the smarts / ability to improve. That is a huge red flag for me. I want a QB who has the tools and consistently gets better. Far more likely they can project forward since they've shown an ability to develop and improve already (vs. get worse / stagnate...that reaks of someone who purely gets by on ability and nothing more). I do realize their are other factors, such as talent, that could force you to not be as good, but I want a guy who is a heady football player. Cook and Goff appear to be that guy with Cook being the guy whose done it in a more pro-style attack and who has shown terrific accuracy at times. He gets a little wild outside of the pocket, but that is something that we can work out. Sonny Dykes and Tony Franklin are head and shoulders better offensive coaches than Hack has ever had. Thats a huge factor.
  24. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 10:39 AM) So, Maty Mauk was suspended so I get to see Drew Lock. I don't think I can plan on him being very good, but Mauk was terrible. I do feel bad for Mauk, whose dad just had surgery to remove a cancerous tumor. That and a fanbase being brutal to him...tough stuff. But Lock is clearly better at passing. Kinda of a good/bad situation there.
