  1. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 10:46 AM) Outside of their 9 game Big 12 schedule, they played a good Minnesota team in OOC. The had one of the tougher schedules in the nation. Baylor on the other hand never schedules teams with a pulse in OOC. Where did you get that info?
  2. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 11:40 PM) It is certainly one game and it doesn't matter, but this is what you get with Daley and Garbutt. The defense is certainly weaker but I didnt see much wrong with the players themselves. Garbutt's line was effective. Keith may have been the worst D man on the ice last night.
  3. How's is that inconclusive? Puck was in net and then you blew the whistle.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 03:38 PM) Since the Guillen's left, he has no source anywhere. Yep. He does swap rumors with Bernstein however, which is fun.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 03:34 PM) This train restaurant in Downers is awesome http://www.allaboarddiner.com/ Thats the one, I saw it when I was going to Carrabas (an awful experience)
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 03:20 PM) Cowley trying to stir up a Butler/Rose feud saying an ex-teammate claims while the 2 like each other, J G Buckets doesn't respect Rose's work ethic. If it is an ex-teammate and they are talking crap from last season, it can only be Nazr he is talking to, as everyone else is back. Cowley is irrelevant.
  7. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 01:39 PM) All the museums close at 5 so Woodfield Mall is an option for one evening. Yeah, they would like Legoland. Not sure I can afford to let my wife in that mall though. If its nice outside I recommend taking your kids to Cantigny park where they have old tanks and whatnot for kids to climb on. My nephews love that place.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 01:30 PM) There is a similar one in Bartlett and Glen Ellyn called 2 Toots http://2toots.com/ food comes out on a track too I think there is one like that in southern DG too. The Junction DOES have beer, double checked.
  9. QUOTE (shipps @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 01:17 PM) If that is 2Toots I have been there before. Cool place for the kids for sure. They have a decent burger and there are plenty of places nearby where you can stop and have a quick beer while the kids and wife are looking in stores. The Junction Diner is what I was talking about http://www.thejunctiondiner.com/
  10. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 01:08 PM) I just looked this up and it is 3 blocks from where I used to live. Is this place new since 2005? I certainly don't remember it. It does look like a place the kids will love, though. My son adores that place, and kids are expected so nobody looks at you like an asshole like when I bring my kid to a bar.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 01:09 PM) On a sidenote, I've never heard someone say spread offense makes an olinemen better or would help them transition. Spread linemen might be athletic, depending on scheme they play in, but just think of the nature of the spread offense...you don't have to hold your blocks as long, rush blocking is different and you tend not to rush as much as well. Whole thing is so much different then the general NFL game. Yes, NFL is adding elements of spread offense to its game...the standard pro style offense is still king. Ah ok. You are talking about a specific type of spread offense there which focuses on throwing, many successful spread offenses focus more on running specifically power running. So you really are focused on offense in general that throw the ball primarily which would also include some of the west coast offenses we see in college as well. Let me put it this way: If you cannot distinguish if an offensive line mainly zone, man or gap blocks in their run or passing game then tagging it with a generic term like "spread" doesnt do anything for me. A "spread" offense means there are at least 3 WR's in the formation, thats it. Sark puts in a good way here, especially since he runs a "pro-style spread"
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 01:03 PM) http://blog.seattlepi.com/football/2015/05...fl-free-agency/? Their is commentary from Tom Cable, oline coach of the Seahawks (and former Raiders head coach). Started off good but then it focused on them drafting D-line guys to convert them to OL, that would be starting completely from scratch which would put them even further behind the 8 ball in knowledge. Kind of a weird article. Looking at the OT rankings for this years prospects 6 out of the top 10 are from spread-based offenses and 7 of the top 10 guards. It will be interesting to examine the success of these guys in being able to start immediately moving forward.
  13. QUOTE (SnB @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 01:00 PM) Most restaurants can be kid friendly, just go early for dinner. (4-5ish) Something Ive found out as part of parenthood. There is an entirely different crowd in a bar or restaurant from 4-6 PM
  14. There is a cool train-themed diner in forest park (they deliver food on a train) but I do not believe they serve alcohol.
  15. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 12:53 PM) I'm not an olinemen, but their was a lot of talk recently about how spread offenses are way easier for olinemen and that they don't develop a lot of the critical techniques to block in a more standard pro offense. Not sure if it is pass protecting or run blocking in the set but I'd presume both. Focus points are different and because of it, it has made it far harder to draft players as you aren't able to project how they will block in an NFL system. Can't remember who the main analyst was who was talking about it, but I also saw similar comments in regards to Grasu and how in a spread you really don't deal with leverage and the more technical aspects of blocking. I'd like to see that analysis, just last season OSU, who runs a spread, put 3 rookie OL starters in the NFL including a center. They attributed their easy transition to the preparation they received in their college scheme. Thats part of the basis of my confusion here, I havent seen a blanket "spread" concept being using as a hinderance in OL prep. Ill add ive seen certain schemes focus more on smaller guards and maybe that hurts the transition, but never actual scheme.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 12:38 PM) Was not correlating Olin and Grasu in regards to spread...just correlating the two and then adding in that Grasu also had to deal with the spread which supposedly slows your development as well. Thats what I dont get. There are many types of spread-based offenses just like there are many kinds of "pro-style" or "west coast." What spread hinders OL development?
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 11:02 AM) Supposedly Olin was in a similar position when he came in and was essentially redshirted until he learned that stuff. Different game playing center, especially in a spread offense. I dont see the correlation there.
  18. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 08:23 AM) Stephen A's first comment was absolutely fine. No idea why kd wanted to attack him for that. But yeah the rebuttal...haha I don't know how "fine" it is to make up a rumor.
  19. Bobby Portis is going to annoy everyone but Bulls fans.
  20. QUOTE (LDF @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 02:39 PM) but as i pointed out, before, the hawks FO was po'ed on bowman handling that rumored, yeah that evil rumored trade failure before the draft. the end result was the trading of Saad and loosing Johns. the hawks screwed up the trade with ARZ and ARZ had to go out and make a trade for Ponger's contract. Dead money so ARZ could get to the salary cap floor. that was the failed trade with the hawks on bickell contract. but that is the past, nothing can be said or done now. How can fake rumors on a site be "pointed out?"

Last man on Earth is just downright brilliant.
  22. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Oct 3, 2015 -> 09:48 PM) Ohio State will have to get by MSU, Michigan and whoever they play in the Semifinal. I'd be shocked if they won all 3 of those games if they continue to play like this Agreed. They are playing like s***. But all you have to do is win.
  23. Looking at the other games today. Wow. What a weird day.
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 3, 2015 -> 05:13 PM) Is OSU really the #1 team? I have only seen them briefly in a few games, but they don't looks so great to me. The polls a meaningless now so there really isn't any number anything team.
