  1. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 12:39 PM) Do not underestimate Samardzija's loyalty to the White Sox. He will be here for a while. Book it. Yep. I've got him pegged for an extension.
  2. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 07:14 AM) Well, if it's an internal issue they would be kicked out of school for a semester (assuming no previous offenses), which would only cost them the bowl game, which they're going to lose anyway. Still better. NCAA can go a year for weed.
  3. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 10:12 PM) Folston and Bryant caught smoking pot. By what entity. That carries a harsher penalty than academic issues if it's the NCAA.
  4. So another bat, RH starter and a top pen arm. And the payroll increasing. Still aren't done yet b
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 03:50 AM) Any talk of extending Samardizja? Or just letting year play out? I think he will extend And I went to bed saying this deal was very close and thinking that was enough for the night.
  6. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 08:56 PM) What is up with these Red Sox "writers" saying this is even remotely close to happening? They fell out of the Lester sweepstakes and needed clicks
  7. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 08:45 PM) Not sure you can blame Gordon for the OSU game. Gordon is better than Coleman, Gordon is one of the best rbs Ive ever seen in college. By far best Wisconsin back. If you stack up their common opponents, Coleman out gained Gordon behind an inferior line. The stats are there. And are you saying best Wisconsin back ever? Maybe top three. He's no Ron Dayne.
  8. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 08:48 PM) I agree. If we're intent on moving Semien, I'd think we could do better than 1 year of Samardzija. And I believe they have a chance to extend him. And I believe this trade is close.
  9. Zero chance. Zilch. Move it along.
  10. And I finally saw statistical support of Tevin Coleman being more productive than Melvin Gordon, so the eye test was true.
  11. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 06:47 PM) The Big 12 has petitioned for the right to have a championship game with only ten members. I'm not sure why the NCAA would force them to. The NCAA doesn't run the College Football Playoff. Yeah well they will have to add 2. IMO I think the Big 12 will be absorbed by the other power 4 at some point to make it 4 majors.
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 05:52 PM) Three Heisman finalists: Mariota, Gordon, Cooper. Pretty sure it will be a landslide victory for the Duck You have to invite at least 3 but there is no contest here.
  13. QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 12:38 PM) I don't know if 3B is easy to fill. 2B just has such a low bar. I was referring to 2B and utility IF. Those are literally the last two positions I fill on a squad.
  14. So my ticket hookup only has 2 seats and I need four badly for the 23rd of Dec.
  15. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 12:19 PM) Semien's a good hitter who plays all over the field, has great athleticism, and just has the look and instincts of a baseball player. This aside from the numbers he put up in the minors, which are phenomenal. Also, even though I advocated for using him as such, a $4 million backup LF/RF/1B that can't hit righties, can't hit lefties, doesn't play defense, and isn't very fast has a hell of a lot less value than that, but the Sox felt so inclined to offer Dayan Viciedo a contract too. That's a hell of a lot less valuable than what Semien can provide you. Like I said, Semien makes way too much sense for the A's in this deal and I hate the idea of that, but I think I'm the only one. You have to trade good players to get good players and all that jazz. I still hate the idea of giving up either Anderson or Semien. Those positions are just too easy to fill IMO especially when looking at adding a top of the rotation RHP
  16. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 11:54 AM) We need Semien. We need a 2b and a utility infielder. We aren't solid at3rd anyway. He has upside. They can have Wilkins and that AAA 2b we used last year ( got hurt late) I cant think of many things that have less value than a utility IF and a 2B.
  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 11:44 AM) Do you think the committee ranks a 2-loss Wisconsin or GA Tech team higher than 1-loss Baylor and TCU simply because they won a conference title game (hypothetically)? If all other things are even, yes. But they wouldnt be most likely. The NCAA is going to force the Big 12 to have a championship game, its going to happen.
  18. QUOTE (GoGoSox2k2 @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 11:33 AM) Rock what is your gut/thoughts on this one? Think Rick can land him this week? I think it makes a ton of sense from what I hear. Top of the rotation RHP, wants to be back in chicago, ties to the area, would possibly sign long term with the right team.
  19. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 07:42 AM) If Sox lock up Shark long term it would shock the baseball world. That's how unlikely it is. I dont buy that at all. The Sox are in on him for longer term than that.
  20. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 08:54 AM) Everyone is talking about The Big 12 going to a title game. I think it's a worthwhile gamble to not have one. For instance, if Ohio State and Florida State lose this weekend, Baylor and TCU probably both get in giving the Big 12 the chance to be represented twice. With a title game, you are only being represented once. Now would you rather have the title game and most likely put 1 representative in the tournament most years or would you gamble that you may have 2 undefeated teams or 1 loss teams at some point in which you have two representatives? I think the conference could decide to continue to not have a title game. Its stated pretty clearly on the playoff committee site that the extra title game weighs more than a regular season champ. So its not really to their advantage if all things are equal.
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 7, 2014 -> 02:57 PM) And I put all the facts I had out there too, yet the committee just seems to be making it up as they go. Stewart Mandel @slmandel · 3h 3 hours ago Long: "The fact there were co-champions in the Big 12 had no bearing on the decision." Stewart Mandel @slmandel · 2h 2 hours ago Long on Big 12: "We were presented with co champions. In the other situations, we had definitive champions for that conference." The conference title game was huge like I said. The sos was second like I said. And the vote wasn't close. I respect you riding the horse till it bucked you, but it was pretty clear.
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 7, 2014 -> 11:56 AM) Nice guess, lol. Apparently everything I had read and heard from the committee was wrong or BS. And the weekly TV rankings were nothing but made for TV bulls***. 92% of the season puts TCU 3 spots higher than Baylor, but add in the final 8% and suddenly Baylor jumps them? That seems crazy. It wasn't a guess. I put all the facts out there for you but you wouldn't consider them.
