  1. So without a new contract the new iphone is 650 bucks? Wow.
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 22, 2014 -> 10:22 AM) Illinois's former defensive coordinator has the same job at UNC, who just happened to give up the most points in school history. There will be at least 2 HC jobs available in the Big Ten this offseason IMO.
  3. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Sep 19, 2014 -> 11:52 PM) The WS was 9 years ago. Wanting to win is different from doing what it takes to win. Sentimentality, pampering certain players, undue concerns with team chemistry (much of it as a result of the utter lack of discipline from the field manager), worries about upset fans if their favorite player is traded....the Sox over-prioritize all of the above. And yet there have been several offseasons where we thought we had a shot to win the WS.....
  4. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 19, 2014 -> 11:49 PM) Wouldn't surprise me. It also feels more like an accumulation of crap that now leads to some form of punishment. Good for him, I really hope Clemson can upset them, would make everyone outside of FSU happy. Oh, I almost forget..."Rock, I doubt there's anything deeper, that just doesn't seem like something he would do, he's a nice person, etc." Looks like he just lied to the AD and president about what happened and then video surfaced.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 19, 2014 -> 10:54 PM) The interim President and AD signed the statement, this is the school making the decision, not the football coach. Digging. I saw some rumblings that there is something deeper than the lunch room thing.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 19, 2014 -> 10:37 PM) It's physically impossible for him to be slower than Handzus. If he only had one leg......
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 19, 2014 -> 10:34 PM) Winston now suspended for the entire Clemson game Well that changes the game quite a bit. I didnt see this. Total overreaction but I get it with the double secret probation he is on. I bet it was something else as well which they wont mention
  8. QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Sep 19, 2014 -> 10:31 PM) ATTENTION BASEBALL FANS -- managers don't matter, never have, never will .....
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 19, 2014 -> 10:27 PM) So what should be done to prevent making that mistake again? He was a "top 100 prospect in theory". How do we avoid trading for guys like that? Its probably not worth your energy to argue this point. There are complaints on this board every day about not acquiring top 100 prospects and when we do they are declared busts after one season. You cant win unless they become all stars. I mean our starting 3B who has shown he can field and hit in the majors was acquired for Jeff Soptic who is still scuffling in A ball and nobody recognizes that.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 19, 2014 -> 10:24 PM) He was a top 100 prospect in theory. Not in reality. And if he doesn't improve a lot it won't be a good deal. Also from his quotes Hahn fully expected him to play a lot for the White Sox this season and he couldn't even get a September call up. His card says 2015 at the earliest. They were going to see what they had with Connor this season unless he got seriously hurt. I also think Davidson is late 2015 or 2016 realistically. It was a no brainer trade.
  11. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 19, 2014 -> 10:18 PM) Today, it looks like a bad trade. At the time, it was my favorite Hahn trade to date. Ultimately, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Results matter. If Hahn ultimately cannot turn the organization around, he will be asked to step down, and whether the trade "seemed" wise at the time won't matter. That said, I support the general thought process that went into making that trade at the time. You make that trade 10 out of 10 times. And I still believe in Davidson. We dont know the backstory of his struggles this year.
  12. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Sep 19, 2014 -> 06:48 PM) Well of course not. 2 horrendous seasons, but the manager can't possibly have anything to do with it. He's Robin. It's been a long time since this organization prioritized winning. I literally cannot agree with one bit of that statement. They have won a WS title, they have added payroll and players to contend and even though it hasnt worked out since they still are trying to win. This rebuilding job IMO shows they want to win, and they want to stay a winning club.
  13. Ill give you the facts right now. They think he has 2 more years to prove hes a guy they want. If not they will replace him. Its already been discussed but they also know that the teams he has been given are dogs***. Next year goes a long way towards his eval.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 19, 2014 -> 10:10 PM) .199 165 strike outs. I think it is pretty safe to assume he won't be considered a top 100 prospect this winter like he still seems to be considered by a few here. He was when he was acquired and he very well could improve upon that. Any time you acquire a top 100 prospect for an average at best closer its a good deal, especially for a rebuilding club.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 19, 2014 -> 01:41 PM) I know it's just preseason BS hype, but I'm already getting excited for Saad-Richards-Kane. On paper Richards is so much better than what we have had there even at this point in his career. I still think we could do better in theory but its a big upgrade.
  16. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 19, 2014 -> 05:42 PM) Thanks for the invite, dick. +1
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 19, 2014 -> 10:04 PM) All I have written is the trade was bad and Davidson isn't as good as he was supposed to be. The numbers support it. You started with the heads must roll crap. But thanks for the opportunity you were so kind to provide me earlier. He wasnt tagged for the majors until 2015 at the earliest, so how do we know this?
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 19, 2014 -> 09:22 PM) Nope. Matt Davidson and Nate Jones are not MLB caliber players, those are the only two facts I have learned in this thread. You learned something in the 30 or so insane posts above?
  19. On paper it was a win, we traded from what we thought was a position of strength and acquired a top 100 prospect who could still pan out. I dont think its a question to be honest. I think many of our trades lately have a purpose of rebuilding this club and I understand why they were made. Reed would have helped this team immensely this year, however we also didnt know our last two guys were going to get hurt immediately. What we DID learn is I believe we have some pretty good arms in waiting. I also believe the pen is something that management is going to be working on quite a bit this offseason as well as a bat and one more SP.
  20. I always start out by finding out the flexible dates. Then pull in around 5-7 sites you want to search. Then destinatons, Riviera Maya, PV, Cabo, jamaica etc. Then start narrowing by brand. That particular date range is expensive because its the high season, but you should still get a better deal than that.
  21. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Sep 18, 2014 -> 10:39 PM) Addison Reed is 23 out of 32 in SV%, lol: http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/closers Aka, about the same rate as Petricka
  22. Top 100 prospect for a meh closer is always a good trade in theory.
  23. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 18, 2014 -> 09:44 PM) Lol mccown He literally tapped out
