  1. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 10:54 AM) No, they have tear gassed journalists who were setting up equipment next to their news van. I posted the pictures and videos and links pages ago. This was last week. I also watched some of the live coverage last week. They were shooting tear gas into completely peaceful crowds. Because they have a right if not a duty to cover the news? Because you're being silly when you paint everything as a "violent mob?" They have pointed a bunch of deadly force and unarmed people. That in itself is an overreaction. The pictures and videos have been posted in this thread and they're easily googled. They did return fire in that shooting that IIRC was unrelated but in the area a week or so ago. They cant cover the news from a safe area away from a mob that was warned over and over and over? Pointing deadly force? Last night they had guns with rubber bullets, and the police were still being shot at with REAL bullets. Should they only have short range tasers? I'd like to know how you believe the police should react when looting and shooting is happening around a residential area filled with actual peaceful protesters and media. Water cannons? Let them be and let innocent people get shot? Let more innocent business owners lose their livelihood? Once again, everyone hates the police until they need them.
  2. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 07:34 AM) I'm pulling for Manziel because the criticism of him compared to other football players is ridiculous and idiotic He needs to beat a woman so the NFL will accept him with open arms.
  3. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 10:46 AM) I've seen them arresting and assaulting journalists for being in a McDonalds. I've seen them tear-gassing journalists and disassembling their video equipment. I've seen them launching tear gas and smoke into neighborhoods. I've seen them aim loaded weapons at unarmed protesters. I've seen them arrest councilmen and refuse to give name or badge number. I've seen them threaten to shoot people. I've seen them use smoke and tear gas to break up 100% peaceful gatherings. I've seen them demand that all video recording be stopped. They arent "tear gassing journalists" they are shooting tear gas into an area of violent protesters after many warnings that its going to happen. If someone tells you they are going to shoot tear gas to disperse a violent mob, why arent you moving away? I watched it live last night on CNN, 15 min of warnings and yet they still stood there. WHy do you think a journalist fighting for clicks and reads and ratings would do such a thing? And have the police shot an innocent person with a bullet? Have they fired a single bullet?
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 10:37 AM) You still have the massive overreaction by the police to the ongoing protests. I dont see overreaction at all, I see them trying to keep the peace and safety of the actual protesters vs people who were firing guns at police. The Police were shot at last night and fired zero bullets. I saw them live giving more than 15 warnings to clear because of the shootings taking place while people just decided they wanted to get arrested. I see media asking why they have to move while their safety is in question. Should the police just let more innocent businesses owners lives go up in flames?
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 10:15 AM) So did Wilson's story have him in the squad car while he shot him or was he out of the vehicle? One of the supposed "facts" of the case is that Brown's body was laying 30-35 feet away from the cop car. If both of those are true, it seems like a far away distance to suddenly use lethal force when he was unarmed. And if he was charging the squad car, wouldn't that have put him at an even further distance originally? No because he chased him after the initial scuffle. 30 feet isnt that far at all, thats 10 yards or like 5 or 6 steps when sprinting.
  6. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 11:56 PM) Throwing a routine pass? Strange. Well, looks like the BT is wide open for Illinois now. He had surgery for a torn labrum in feb.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 19, 2014 -> 01:07 AM) Very true. But why would a 20 year old kid want to be arrested?? It accomplishes nothing unless they are starving and want some jail food. I mean it makes no sense. They can protest all they want in the day as long as they keep moving. They were warned. Keep moving. Good luck to them trying to get a job in the real world with a conviction on their resume. That might even be a felony, right? It's cute you think those kids are thinking rationally enough to care about their job future.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 08:31 PM) Oh boy, making its way around the big names on Twitter. That would just be brutal for him and OSU. http://buckeyextra.dispatch.com/content/st...ury-update.html It's confirmed. Damn.
  9. Welp, rumor has it Braxton Miller out for season with shoulder injury.
  10. Anyone want my set of Ping G10's before I put them on the open market? 4-pw black dot orange grips
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 07:25 PM) We did our research: In 129 years since police and fire commissions were created in the state of Wisconsin, we could not find a single ruling by a police department, an inquest or a police commission that a shooting was unjustified. Read more: http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/201...l#ixzz3AnE4G6vi And there will be riots.
  12. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 06:40 PM) Are these the same witnesses that had Mike getting shot in the back as well. Probably. Turns out there were other witnesses there that tell the other side as well. None of is it is going to matter since the "jump to conclusions" public has already sentenced the cop and will stop at nothing until he's in jail. Even due process is being messed up because people watching at home just NEED to know things like medical reports.
  13. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 05:43 PM) Again, whether or not he was aware of the robbery is moot. They were walking in the street, which is illegal and already justifies the stop. He wasn't even going to arrest them from the accounts. He just wanted them to move onto the sidewalk before they resisted and the skirmish happened.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 05:39 PM) Who just so happened to be doing some kind of victory dance or celebration in the middle of the street with their $49 worth of stolen cigars. Because obviously no one else in the city would have the right to holding/carrying cigars in their hands, so it was very convenient that the officer just so happened four hours later to find those two still carrying around the cigars instead of smoking them, handing them out to friends, etc. They weren't cohibas they were the kind you roll blunts with from what I've seen. Pretty sure it wasn't for the birth of someone's kids.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 05:34 PM) So the solution is for EVERYONE to have a gun. Because, if, no matter what, an officer can presume you have a gun, then unless there's some type of video/cam, it's always going to be his word against the victim's. Therefore, since officers will shoot assuming you have a gun anyway, why not just let everyone have a gun? P.S. I'm sure trained professionals can hit a 300 pound guy from 35 feet away at least once or twice at waist level or below if he's taking 6-8 shots. Are we supposed to believe this guy's moving as quick as William The Refrigerator Perry down the street like an enraged bull? The cameras will not help anyone but officers in most situations so they should be in favor of it. There are many examples of these cameras on YouTube and the officer almost always appears much calmer than the perps.
  16. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 05:02 PM) I'm not sure what the bolded is in reference to... More police isn't bad. More police pulling over every driver going 33 in a 30 after midnight to try to make possession arrests is bad policy (especially since possession is, relatively, a victimless crime). More police isn't bad. More police targeting racial minorities is bad policy (and fundamentally bad - see stop and frisk). More police isn't bad. Better interaction between police and the community is even better. Pulling over 10 random drivers in englewood is going to result in at least 9 out of 10 drivers being black especially at night. It isn't racial profiling it's playing the odds. Many of those routine stops results in arrests for larger crimes than you describe. However the minute a shooting happens everyone complains about the police not being there. That's what the bolded meant. Police presence makes people unhappy until they actually need them.
  17. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 04:17 PM) It'd be nice if the police had some sort of incident report/debrief from Wilson dating back to last Saturday before any external information (witness statements) was known. They probably do but it's more important to give that info to a DA instead of the experts looting local businesses.
  18. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 04:14 PM) But that's the point right? Even if your numbers are right and the police find drugs or a weapon on a routine traffic stop 75% of the time, they are still alienating the 25% that they stop who aren't doing anything. Strictly enforcing traffic laws to try and uncover illegal behavior alienates the police from the community. I mean, I see your analogy to college campuses, but that behavior makes people resentful of the police. And in communities with higher crime rates, making the divide between the police and the community wider only exacerbates the problem - especially when color of skin helps influence who is pulled over. So in the light most favorable to the officers, it's still terrible policy. Yet they whine for more police present to stop the crime. Funny how that works.
  19. Maybe it will make them mad enough to go ruin some more of their fellow neighbors small businesses.
  20. Even if that's the truth nobody will believe it in that town.
  21. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 03:12 PM) I actually fully expect that to happen. Well by the time the third one is done the body has been dissected twice already. The quality of work will decrease. Also the first one is the only one that has access to body fluids.
  22. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 02:28 PM) He had pot in his body! Gang-banger thug. Case closed. Sigh. Did the toxicology report come out? If anything that should have calmed him down.
  23. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 01:30 PM) There's no chance in hell i'd convict a cop for shooting a guy that's punching him in the face repeatedly, even if he had tazers or a mace on his belt. I'm not going to question that guys belief that he's about to die and needs to defend himself to the death. In that situation, if you're stupid enough to assault a cop like that, you deserve to be shot. Now if you're talking about a situation where there are like 3 cops and one assailant and the assailant happens to get a few punches in, I might be willing to say that deadly force isn't warranted. But it would depend on the circumstances and how strongly the officer thought his life was in danger. Have you seen the video of that cop getting his face smashed in the traffic stop? That's the type of stuff they want to avoid I bet
  24. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 01:05 PM) also fwiw, a customer at the convenience store called the police, but the owners and the employees didn't. Maybe didn't think it was worth the hassle to report a $20 (or however much some gas stations cigars would be) theft. Is there a link for that info? Sorry for being skeptical but you posted pages of posts on how he got shot in the back.
  25. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 11:48 AM) That's why I asked if he had been patted down (and thus the officer knew before shooting whether he was armed or not). For all we know Brown ran away, turned around, and then made a motion like he was pulling out a gun. A cop probably SHOULD aim to disarm/kill, and maybe he did that since there are numerous shots to the right hand/arm/shoulder. But in a split second if you really believe your life is in danger I don't think you can process that decision so quickly. The cnn doctor thought it appeared the shots were aimed at midsection and the head shot could have occurred when he fell while advancing. That would be why there is a shot directly down through the top of the skull.
