QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 12:24 AM) Hey, if it's going to be a name for the history books, may as well get it right. Alec. Great game to end it. Incredible OTs. Enjoyable hockey. Best theater in sports, nothing matches an OT with the cup on the line. Just incredible. Down 3-0 in the first round. Sports are great. They earned it, for sure. Miami Redhawk

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 12, 2014 -> 09:24 PM) Too many people think the Heat are out of this game. If you like officiating, tune in to the 3rd quarter.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 04:30 PM) Yeah but if Rodon doesn't sign then the Sox lose his slot money so there's still not enough moeny for de Oca. He'll sign.

Garfein: Sox could trade Beckham for pitching

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 01:27 PM) In your opinion, does Beckham actually have enough value to other teams to get back a piece that can contribute to the Sox? Depends on what you consider contributing. I think he could be a piece to get a rotation arm, or could draw a bullpen guy on his own. -

The info finally trickles down to Chuck. So sad. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 11:13 AM) Jay Zawaski @JayZawaski670 36m If you missed it, Eddie O told us there's a "7/2" chance the Hawks move a veteran. Oduya has to be gone IMO.

Bulls make offer for KLove

QUOTE (Boogua @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 10:11 AM) The idea is that he is "out of position" by compromising his defensive position before the shot to be in position to grab the rebound. He'll gamble and teams can take advantage of his gambling (which they do) if they don't, then he can get the rebound. I have heard that about him also. That doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me. Sounds like sour grapes. To gather a rebound you have to box out (on a man) and be in a good rebounding position. Both of those are huge positives. If he left his man it would most likely be a layup resulting in no rebound. So the theory doesnt correlate. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 10:43 AM) I don't understand the concept of getting out of position to get a rebound. If he got the rebound, it's a lot better than being in postion, whatever that means, and having an opponent get the rebound. Love does have his warts. His D is a big concern. His play down the stretch of games. But he's a pretty sweet player. There is only IN position to get a rebound, usually on the far side of the rim. -
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 10:24 AM) It would be great if the mascot didn't require a roster spot so we could rotate our 3 s***ty outfielders in and out while also being able to plug Danks and his nice D to save us from those first 3 ' s terrible defense Yes, the mascot.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 09:58 AM) With De Aza hitting Danks-esque in the majors, the one thing that can be said is that Danks will at least catch the ball, and not make stupid mistakes on the bases. Maybe the first part. Neither one of them can hit.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 11, 2014 -> 09:29 AM) With the latter type of violence, there is almost no risk to the average American. You don't go into neighborhoods where gang violence occurs, so while the concept of gang violence might be disturbing, it doesn't affect you personally. With the former type of violence, we care more because we go to schools, malls, and movie theaters where this kind of stuff happens, even though it's still a small percentage of gun deaths in the nation. Every day there are people killed by gunfire in Chicago, overwhelmingly its in areas that nobody ventures into so it almost has zero effect on anyone.

Any day now...

Danks doesnt have upside anymore, he is what he is, a AAAA player. De Aza also has no place on a contending team.

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jun 10, 2014 -> 12:38 PM) Michal Roszival was a +25 combined for the last 2 seasons. Patrick Kane was a +18 for the last 2 seasons. The +/- stat is ridiculously stupid. As for Seabrook's offense, I couldn't care less. I'd rather have a defensive rock there, not an offensive guy. Keith and Leddy can put up offense, and I think that's enough d-men who can rack up points. Show me stats on how bad he was during the regular season then. Because he wasn't, and I hate him, but he had a good season this year.

Getting rid of Rios freed us up to plan lots of different options for the team. He had no place in this org during this rebuild and I think we have shown that we have a decent plan in place. No use in looking at a move that turned out pretty good for us.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 10, 2014 -> 10:58 AM) Obviously nothing is for sure, and any team with a goalie playing well can keep a team in it. But the fact remains, the best two teams were in the WCF. I certainly didn't think the Kings nor the Hawks would possibly sweep. But while watching both the WCF and the ECF I didn't doubt that whoever came out of the WCF would ultimately win, not saying it wouldn't be close. That has been my stance the entire time. Since we don't have a horse in the race, I'd rather have a 6 or 7 game series. I was pulling Rangers in game 2 and then 3 just to try to make it a series. Agreed. Montreal would have been incredibly out of place if they made the finals. I've been pulling for the longest series ever, I am not ready for hockey to end.
-
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 10, 2014 -> 09:54 AM) Sure it hasn't been a blowout, but it's still 3-0. Anyone who watched the WCF and the ECF knew that the 2 teams in the WCF were the best 2 teams left. The NYR-MTL series wasn't very good hockey. I still think the Rangers would have given the Hawks some issues, they sure can skate and shoot and in theory have a hot goalie. With the way the Hawks D had been playing I think it would have been close. I was hoping for a 7 game finals and it looked like it was going to happen in the first two games but then Quick got hot and its all but over unfortunately.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 10, 2014 -> 09:43 AM) I feel like the games were mostly retreads. Another Madden. Another Call of Duty/Battlefield. Another LBP. Another AC that i'll probably buy and will enjoy the very average experience. All of the interesting games are a year away - Uncharted, The Order, The Division, etc. So what's the point in talking about them now? Oh, but we got PlaystationTV coming! WTF Sony, who gives a crap? Americans have had 10 choices for streaming TV since 2008. A little late to the game. Yeah, at some point streaming TV fails to be exciting on any platform. Give me some original games for god sakes.

Yeah, I've only got Vmart at 29.06 seconds. Still looked slow as hell. You can just tell these guys dont think much of us, so I hope we put a little frustration in their game.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 10, 2014 -> 02:33 AM) Lots of excuses and a bit of disrespect from Porcello... “Our guys did a heck of a job tonight battling and swinging the bats well, especially after a tough travel day that they had last night,” Porcello said. “I tip my hat to them. I just didn’t hold up my end of the bargain.” Porcello allowed nine hits and six runs (five earned) over five-plus innings with four strikeouts. Of the nine hits he allowed, five were for extra-base hits (three doubles, a triple and a home run). “Not to disrespect anything that they did tonight and take away how well they swung the bats, but from my side of it, I didn’t do a good job of making pitches,” Porcello said. “That’s what it comes down to.” He did take responsibility for one mistake. “That was a play where I just didn’t think and airmailed it,” Porcello said of his throwing error. “That was a stupid play and I deserved to come out of the game after that.” Porcello said it was a desperation throw. On a night when he didn’t have his best stuff, he tried to do a little too much. “There’s nothing you can do when a guy lays down a perfect bunt,” he said. “I, for whatever reason, thought I was going to do something about it and didn’t have the chance.” “We came back and got in the game and had the tying run at third there,” said Tigers manager Brad Ausmus. “That was a bright spot.” http://www.freep.com/article/20140610/SPOR...icago-white-sox Watch Martinez's slowest home run trot ever? They dont respect the Sox at all, they think they are the baddest team around.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 03:58 PM) We were both describing the same thing, despite using words that seem opposed. Everyone holds countless beliefs to varying degrees of certainty. I believe there's some dijon mustard in my fridge. This doesn't constitute a religion. If you believe that the mustard is a supreme deity, it may be.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 10:40 PM) We all did. Well, except Rock. Actually I mentioned it several times on the HFBoards surprisingly. 2OT games so far in this Cup finals so it hasnt been very close. Last night was actually the first time the kings had a lead during regulation.
