  1. You can't review goaltender interference. Yet they did.
  2. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 18, 2014 -> 03:30 PM) There was no "pre planned" DL trip. The Sox had no handle on the injury at all. Now Jose needs an MRI. In Rock's world I'm sure they planned the MRI as well, like 2 weeks ago. It's ludicrous. Hahahahaha. My info is now "my world".
  3. QUOTE (Jake @ May 18, 2014 -> 03:05 PM) Rock, can you explain the thought process behind "planned" DL trip? It would make perfect sense if they anticipated it but were keeping him out there in hopes that it might resolve itself. Simply pre-planning it would have to have some kind of personnel-related reasoning...ie, wanting to wait for Eaton's return or something I posted over a week ago that I heard they thought he would eventually have to go on the DL. That's all I know. It was evident that eventually he would have to take a couple of weeks off.
  4. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 18, 2014 -> 12:07 PM) Continue to LOL, how old are you 12? You sound like a 9/11 truther bro, no offense. I won't post anymore because it's obvious you aren't listening to reason. PRIMA FACIE what evidence do you see for your grand DL plan? On the surface, I see nothing, in fact what I see is bungled management by Robin in letting a player beg his way into the lineup and then aggravated the ankle. As I said, tendionus is from over-use. You think playing in every damn game helped? You are seriously off the deep end here they were planning a DL trip for a guy that continued to play every day with an injury that only gets better with rest? Well if that is true then everyone involved should be fired on the spot for incompetence. If what you are saying is true then why the f*** was he not on DL for the interleague series'? Your theory makes zero sense man, so now they get to lose Jose against much tougher competition so he could play ineffectively against worse teams? Come on, think. It's not my opinion or a theory kid. If you don't want my info then don't take it. I don't argue about the little insider access I get.
  5. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 18, 2014 -> 11:58 AM) It's absurd on the face and I can't believe anyone is seriously gullible enough to believe that. How strong is the Herm Scheinder cool aid around here? As observers, this is what we have as the timeline: Spring Training -- Abreu battles ankle soreness in same ankle, club and player downplay it as "usual soreness" May 8th, Cubs -- Abreu "tweaks ankle" after the game Robin says he'll DH until it's better. ~May 12 -- Ankle isn't getting any better from the eye test (obviously hobbling badly down the line) Robin tells media the upcoming off game will "be a great time to get him two days off in a row" Present -- Robin does not give Jose any off days, ankle continues to deteriorate to the eye -- now he's hobbling badly after every swing. Gets so bad he's pulled for Konerko in a close game. Abreu goes on DL after game and is visibly upset post game as media has him sitting for around 15 minutes looking distraught at his locker post game. You tell me Rock, this is just some vast incredibly well thought out plan of action because it seems to me like a clusterf***. Lol. Then don't pay attention to my info, I really don't care.
  6. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 18, 2014 -> 11:49 AM) So they've been planning a DL trip for weeks but kept on playing him? Not buying that. They've known for quite some time he would have to take a DL stint for the ankle. You don't have to buy anything but it's the truth. Not everyone pays attention to the truth.
  7. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 18, 2014 -> 11:33 AM) Pretty obvious Ventura handled this the wrong way. Guess what causes Tendinitus? Over use. Abreu had played in every game coming into this series and he should have had two off days in a row, instead he's now on the 15 day dl. You guys can continue to defend Robin and talk about all the great work Chicago has done keeping guys healthy but guess what -- have you watched the last two seasons? It's not exactly like we are keeping guys healthy anymore. Lol. They have been planning a DL trip for weeks. Nice try.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 18, 2014 -> 10:58 AM) Good thing Abreu's scheduled day off on Friday was canceled. That had nothing to do with it. I mentioned an upcoming DL stint for him a week ago.
  9. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 17, 2014 -> 08:16 PM) You could tell he was hurting. Hawk and Whimpy talked about it too and how it might be affecting his approach at the plate It totally is but the kid HATES sitting. He is a show me leader and wants to be out there. Word has it he's one of the best clubhouse guys ever seen as a rookie who doesn't speak English. He's a team guy first and you can just feel it. That's something you couldn't really "scout" before. Because of this they let him play which was probably a mistake, however they like how the team plays with him in the lineup.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 15, 2014 -> 09:47 PM) If you try to watch Pacific Rim at home, it just doesn't do it justice. That's one of those movies, unless you watch in IMAX/3-D with surround-sound, isn't going to be nearly as enjoyable. With Godzilla, it would be a shocker if China outgrosses the US, because Godzilla's coming out here in the middle of June, and quite a few will have already seen it online...that said, if it's really good, Chinese really love to go see 3-D movies at the theatre. Titanic remake-3D conversion also did better box office here than in the States. Pacific rim needs to be watched on a huge tv with really loud surround sound. It's the only way.
  11. Had my interview on the course today and it looks like I'm in. Out of all the clubs I looked at I picked the one with younger more down to earth people. Pretty excited for this summer
  12. QUOTE (farmteam @ May 16, 2014 -> 10:11 PM) Yeah, I agree with this. Northwestern has to lower its standards more than any other Big Ten school (though getting into Norhwestern and Michigan out of state aren't too far apart), but there are still probably some guys it won't take that others in the conference would. Michigan takes anyone who qualifies with the NCAA, the days of them having a different standard ended two decades ago.
  13. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ May 16, 2014 -> 04:29 PM) I fear Jonathan Quick the most. Even so, its hard to forego home ice, so for me, that makes it close to a no-brainer. Go Kings. I dont because he gots out of position really easily and our guys tend to take advantage of that.
  14. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 16, 2014 -> 02:33 PM) Kings are the better matchup for the Hawks, IMO. Who do they even have after the Kopitar line? Plus home-ice advantage is always pretty nice. Home Ice and making the team travel to us for the first two is nice. I also really really fear the Ducks.
  15. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 16, 2014 -> 02:42 PM) Yeah, if Michigan is in this, distance isn't going to be much of a factor at all, especially when talking about the Illinois schools or ND. We have any idea on a timetable for a decision? I heard it was ASAP as he wants to get out of there and back home. i would assume most of the Big Ten schools are in it except the east coast ones and Ohio State.
  16. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 16, 2014 -> 02:23 PM) But you're sitting here arguing distances in relation to the recruitment and how it might impact it, then throw in that ND is also closer than Illinois, as if it's actually relevant when it's a ridiculously low difference. It's irrelevant at that point. That will have 0% basis on where he goes. If he comes out and says "I picked Notre Dame over Illinois simply because on a good day it's 5 minutes closer to Joliet," I'll eat my hat. I'm guessing you didn't realize Champaign wasn't THAT far down state. Hell, as was pointed out earlier I'm guessing the distance between NW and Champaign is almost irrelevant when you consider the drive. They're probably all one in the same at this point and he'll go based on fit. No, I just forgot he was from Shorewood. From your place ND is closer than ILL, its about 90 min. The fact that he's spoken to Michigan though kind of makes almost every school in range as thats about 4 hours or so away if not more.
  17. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 16, 2014 -> 01:43 PM) >>inferring you need decent grades to play Northwestern football You'd assume right?
  18. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 16, 2014 -> 12:28 PM) Closer by what, 5 miles. That doesn't make any difference in the grand scheme of things here. Is it likely we get him know, but in the mix, you have a shot. We have Ferguson plus he said he's looking at BT schools in the area. Not sure ND is a fit if he's concerned about playing time. Doesnt make it any less true. The Big Ten thing is interesting, looks like NW or ILL and I'm not clear if he had the grades to get into NW.
  19. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 16, 2014 -> 11:18 AM) This is true but if USC fouled up the waiver process which is rumored; he will be heading to Notre Dame. Also closer than Illinois. I forgot to add ND in there. I like him as a back, but I dont think he's a future star.
  20. QUOTE (Brian @ May 16, 2014 -> 11:08 AM) Ty Isaac transferring back near home from USC. Illinois in the mix. So is NW and NIU from what I hear. Illinois isnt all that close to home if he's really going there to be by his "sick mother".
  21. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 16, 2014 -> 08:29 AM) The problem that I have is the way it's covered. So you mean to tell me that Backes and Seabrook "are all good now"? Not saying it to you Rock but that's how the commentators make it sound. Seabrook concussed a guy and f***ed with his livelihood but everything's good now. "Look at them shaking hands". Backes is a professional and didn't react in the handshake line but that line is often contrived as something the teams are "supposed" to do. No, but its the adult and professional thing to do and most adults and men for that matter would be able to show sportsmanship. Like I said, you can hold a grudge on the field or ice but if you are the guy who goes into the parking lot looking for a fight you are a child to me. Especially when there was nothing dirty done to you whatsoever like Lucic. He's one of the dirtier players on that team and he has a problem? Come on. And Backes f***ed up his own livelihood when he came back WAY too early from a concussion.
  22. QUOTE (zenryan @ May 15, 2014 -> 05:47 PM) People are just looking for a reason for faux outrage in this Twitter world we live in. Just like last night people claiming someone threw a banana on the ice. Well I'm sure something will happen over the weekend that will bring out more manufactured outrage. And that will be replaced by something else by middle of next week. How is it fake? Sportsmanship in any sport at any level is something adults have, and if someone is a baby about it, people call it like they see it. Lucic acted like a little whiny baby, the type of guy who tries to meet you in the parking lot after a rat hockey game. Why didn't someone like Backes react that way in the handshake line when he saw Keith and Seabrook? Because he knows its not the time or the place.
  23. QUOTE (zenryan @ May 15, 2014 -> 05:22 PM) This handshake thing last night is being overblown. Lucic hates a few players on Montreal, so he's suppose to play nice now because they lost? No different than what happened between Doan and some of the Coyotes and Dustin Brown a couple years ago. I wonder how many calls to the Montreal police would've been made about Lucic if the Canadiens would've lost last night. Both of those situations are classless actually. It's called sportsmanship.
  24. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 15, 2014 -> 03:58 PM) Do some BP or go to the batting cages. It's much easier to practice something like that there than in a game. You can try creating some kind of timing mechanism in your swing to make sure you end up waiting a bit longer. Whether it's a longer leg kick, toe tap, etc. I'm a stepper and it helped me with timing.
