QUOTE (Jake @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 01:42 PM) I'm working for a college Residence Life Office, meaning I live on that campus (hey, it's free!). Campus internet uses that authentication. They also have a WPA service that requires sign-in via a browser which I haven't been able to figure out on things like Roku. Hmm. Let me think about that one.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 10:52 AM) That's the same thing he does now. It wasn't coaching that made the Seahawks D so outstanding, it was pure speed and talent. Now I think Carroll has a major say in personnel and they gutted the entire roster when he showed up, so he definitely deserves credit for that. WEll, he is and has always been a defensive coach, so there must be something he is doing right to produce such a successful defense.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 10:37 AM) Yeah but at USC he was coaching well-paid professionals against teams that didn't have professional level talent. I think you can throw most college success out the window when evaluating coaching talent. Maybe if you're Harbough and you take a program from nothing to great and sustain that success. That's impressive because you're winning without the best players. USC just reloaded ever year. And they played in a pretty bad conference. He didn't have a very good track record as a HC at the NFL level. That's where most of the doubt came from. He was great at USC (which it has been shown still needs a good coach to be elite) because he got out of the way and played and catered to his talent. He is well known as being a players coach who routinely keeps things light. It most likely works well with new pro players as well as vets.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 10:30 AM) But he was a college coach coaching well-paid professionals. To be fair, it was a small number of well paid guys, now he has a whole roster of well paid roided up professionals.

QUOTE (Jake @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 10:22 AM) Quick question - For the next few months, I'll be living in a place in which my wi-fi uses 802.1x authentication. This means my Roku, for instance, can't natively connect to the wi-fi. Right now, I'm using an old laptop w/ an ethernet cord to bridge my connection. Now, I want to sell that laptop...but I don't want to not have my Roku work. It looks like a lot of the internet sharing stuff doesn't play nice with Windows 8. I've tried to use Connectify on my desktop and it doesn't work. I tried to do the ethernet stuff with my desktop and it didn't work then either. I believe W8 is the reason for this, based on my research, though I can't remember the reasoning. Any other ideas? I don't mind paying a few bucks for some kind router-esque device. FWIW I do not have access to an ethernet port, so I need something that can connect to the wireless network to share its connection, whether its via ethernet or creating an ad hoc type of network. Working for the government or something? Thats a strange use case. i think you will spend more money and time trying to convert the peer to peer tech into a broader tech than you would just getting another internet or wireless pipe. Maybe invest in a MiFI from verizon?

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 10:04 AM) Why did people doubt that Pete Carroll could be successful in the NFL? He was very successful with well-paid players at his last job. Because he was a college coach. Thats really the only reason.

You know why i know Beckman should be fired? His recruiting is f***ing terrible. ILL is LAST in the conference. Countless big time players from ILL are signing at other programs. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 09:53 AM) The Seahawks only blitzed 6 times last night. Amazing D Line work coupled with allowing Manning to hit dump offs before their fast as hell defense destroyed that player. Pretty good strategy.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 09:33 AM) I'm sure Seahawk fans are excited, but that made for a really boring game. Hasn't been a blow out like that since the Bucs beat up on the Raiders. It felt like the exact same game.

QUOTE (Jake @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 08:40 AM) MLB.tv also on Roku Apple TV as well I believe. So a lot of options there.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 09:02 AM) Kam Chancellor's f***ing huge. That guy's literally a LB playing safety (kinda like Urlacher in college, but way faster). Except he was recruited as a QB.

@DanGreenspan: If you want to dress like Illinois, Pete Carroll will treat you like Illinois.

Watch Mayweather pick up a random fight soon. 10.4 million loss.

This is how I thought the Bears defense was going to be against Manning.

Percy Harvin is really good at playing the Percy Harvin position.

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 01:04 PM) They very well might. I have not heard good things about Under Amour in the basketball world. Apparently their basketball shoes are poor and not comfortable to players, which is why I was a little surprised that Notre Dame chose UA. While they might not be a "basketball" school, their team is always pretty good. Personally, I don't like UA cleats. They don't fit me well. I much prefer my Nike's. Otherwise, I don't have an issue with their apparel, other than some of the awful uniforms they create. Nike is the best for both sports IMO. We've seen an incredible assortment of equipment for both football and bball at OSU. Its been really beneficial and the kids love it. -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 01:40 PM) Looks like O'hare is expected to get 9.6 inches, Midway 9.1. I think every storm prediction so far this year has ended up too low though. Its coming right at me, as usual.

I'm sorry, 12 years a slave is so incredibly cliche to me. It had some good acting, but a very predictable arc.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 10:59 AM) Michigan City and Berrien County MI tend to exceed South Bend's numbers. Our place in Dowagiac almost always has 3 feet of snow on the ground.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 10:10 AM) When I moved and signed up, my promotion was for a year I was told. But after 6 months it went up. They told me it's still a promotional offer for next 6 months, despite being more. So in 6 months, my stuff will go up again. Fn bs. Tell em you are switching. "Found a coupon"

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 10:12 AM) I forgot about Cincy. I only thought of Toledo because they're recruiting out of Chicago lately. Akron has a good chance in that conference. Xavier is also in Ohio. -
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 09:00 AM) While it's just personal preference, I'd go the desktop route for the screen real estate and power (not to mention cost savings, as a really high powered laptop will be quite expensive), along with extendability, such as being able to add a second graphics card. I just synch whatever I need to my ipad/iphone for "emergency" on the go purposes...it's not like editing photos/video or documents on a tablet or laptop is fun (no matter how big or small), while it can be done in a pinch, it's like using a wrench to hammer in a nail...the hammer just works better for those things. I have a Windows 7 laptop for work, a iPad Mini Retina, and my iPhone for anything "on the go", but none of it comes close to working on my 27" iMac, which has 16 gigs of ram in it...and it's still fast as hell despite being 3 years old. I have dual screens on the imac with around 5 TB of storage and maxxed out RAM. I think mine is 5-6 years old and it screams. My macbook air is only when I travel.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 09:00 AM) State of Ohio is lucky Toledo is having such a great season or they may get shut out. LOL. Cincy is kind of part of kentucky.
