  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 23, 2014 -> 08:06 AM) I wouldn't care if I did know about it - hgh for all! I'd like some of that s***. It would help my knees heal. Also some of the PRP therapy as well. Where can I procure that?
  2. Anyone who feels the need to rent a lambo on vacation automatically should be arrested.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 23, 2014 -> 08:49 AM) It's been a combination of shoddy defense and mediocre goaltending at times. Crawford missed nearly all of December, so Raanta got 12 straight starts then. Now they are getting Crawford going again, and there's a 3 week break coming up, so I don't think fatigue is a big worry right now. Speaking of Emery, I bet he's regretting the decision to choose Philly over Chicago now. Mason has won the #1 job and Emery suddenly doesn't look so good without the Stanley Cup champs in front of him. Defense has been weak at times this year. Not sure what is going on back there.
  4. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 23, 2014 -> 07:57 AM) Multiple baseball writers reported that every offer was in the 6 year $120 million range as a starting point. Don't know how true that is. Both Chicago teams did.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 08:00 PM) Good W. Tough one Sat. Don't think they'll win but I'll take being 6-0 and in that spot. Nobody is going through conference play undefeated anyway.
  6. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 03:32 PM) Our insiders here have said the front office was trying to move both Danks and Dunn. Why haven't they? I meant that Danks was strapped to the White Sox because of his salary not that the White Sox were strapped financially because of Danks. Dunn yes, Danks I dont think the market dictated it was a good move.
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 03:54 PM) The stats love Iowa. I definitely wouldn't consider them a favorite but I wouldn't put it passed them to win it all either. What stats?
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 03:08 PM) I've been re-watching The Wolf of Wall Street at the gym the past few days. I love this f***ing movie even more the second time through. You catch more s*** every time you watch it. Jonah Hill is awesome IMO.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 02:28 PM) Jay Bilas ✔ @JayBilas Follow I've just watched every Iowa game since December. The Hawkeyes are as good as ANYONE. This is an underrated team good enough to win it all. 12:30 PM - 22 Jan 2014 They may be underrated but I dont think they can win it all. They will run up against someone much more talented than them in the tournament.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 10:54 AM) The Crane Kenny goofball that holds a high position with the Cubs stated this past weekend that the rebuild could take the rest of this decade. LMAO, that's 6 years. One problem is the rooftop owners apparently are holding the Wrigley makeover hostage. The Cubs won't start until they sign something saying they won't sue. Those owners are heroes. He also gave those dopes an hour presentation on who he was and what he's done via powerpoint. I would bet quite a bit that we were higher up Tanakas list than the Cubs.
  11. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 10:51 AM) I just hope we can trade for a catcher, I just dont want flowers starting. Hahn has insinuated that theyd like to get one, obviously lol I think Hahn has been pretty clear he feels the same way. We will see a competition for the spot and possibly even keep our eye on who is available.
  12. Bears are very attractive because of Jay and they also usually focus on the QB's wife and in his case she's already a well known tv personality.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 10:29 AM) I am sure the north side is in meltdown with this as another failure up there under Theo. And I'm not sure they were all that close to landing him. The Cubs dont have that kind of money regardless what their fans think.
  14. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 10:06 AM) So Hahn foiled by the Yankees in pursuit of two free agents targets this off-season. (McCann and Tanaka) I'm not all that upset about either.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 09:50 AM) If you have ever paid city of Chicago or Cook County income tax, I have an extra elevator pass you may be interested in. But sales tax is pretty high. So for every day living, the cost could be higher, but I would imagine it is still nowhere near the cost of NYC or LA. So you are making fun of people for not committing tax fraud?
  16. The Sox were out when 6 years wasnt going to cut it.
  17. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 09:15 AM) I have absolutely no idea. There are a lot of ways for the math to work out. I merely put up a couple different scenarios. Bottom line, he doesn't even need to average 5 WAR a year for this contract to "make sense" (given $/WAR) for the Yankees. And after year 1 and 2 it looked like Dice-K would, and then...... Its a large contract and i am glad the Sox didnt try to outbid this offer.
  18. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 09:05 AM) The general sentiment is the Dodgers and Yankees can over a lot more than we can. My guess was he signs for 7/$147, and Sox offered 7/$119. But bigger unknown was how much Tanaka would value the money over other factors. For those who felt Tanaka would leave $30 mil on the table, they fooled themselves. Hahn was wright, if it hasn't come down to $$, we had as much a chance as anyone, but the sad reality was it most likely came down to money, but a lot of people here refused to see that. I think the Sox were close on annual but wouldnt add that 7th year.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 09:02 AM) Flight time to Tokyo from LA 10 hours, from Chicago 11.5 hours, from NYC 13 hours. Really not much different especially if you are in first class with a bed. This STILL blows my mind.
  20. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 08:55 AM) Isn't the general consensus amongst scouts that Tanaka is even a step below Darvish? Yep, supposedly. Supply and demand I guess. Shows you how great of a bargain we got on Abreu IMO.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 08:54 AM) Too bad. Now I hope he sucks. The problem with the 4 year opt out is then it basically costs you $5 million extra per year with the posting fee. Hopefully in a few years Tanaka will look back and say he should have signed with the White Sox, but the Yankees were desperate. They probably would have paid him whatever it took. I like the White Sox agressiveness, and Hahn is either a great actor or really thought he had a shot. This bodes well for the future IMO. I dont think our offer was in the 7 year range IMO. That was probably only the Yanks.
  22. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 08:53 AM) So Tanaka needs to be a 5+ WAR pitcher for 7 years for the Yankees to get their moneys worth. I don't like the odds of that happening. At least. He needs to best Darvish essentially.
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 08:44 AM) That would not have been a good contract for the Sox, so the Yankees can have him. Not good for anyone who doesnt have unlimited cash.
  24. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 05:34 PM) Hahn talking about the importance of Abreu and how big a part of the offseason plan he was. says "Power is extremely hard to find right now" Especially affordable power. Look at the price we paid for this guy compare to whats being talked about in this thread.
