Official 2013-2014 College Hoops Thread
RockRaines replied to Brian's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
This team is so snakebit. Refs literally give penn state 7 points to tie. This shouldn't happen at home. -
QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jan 29, 2014 -> 02:56 PM) Does this actually happen? I don't know a single person that I've ever heard "make fun of" Northerners when you have bad weather. People might think you're crazy for living in a part of the country that can get weather like that, but I wouldn't say anyone makes fun of it. The most common reaction is awe. Like, how the heck do you handle that much snow and/or negative temperatures? Yes, constantly.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 29, 2014 -> 02:35 PM) The city of elgin uses a brine/beet juice mixture to cut down their salt usage. Its kind of funny when you see the roads with a purplish tint http://blog.chicagolandh2o.org/2011/02/08/...nagement-blues/ They are using that on 290 now as well. Works really good.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 29, 2014 -> 02:28 PM) I just got an email from my town that said they're running out of salt. More salt is hard to come by I guess. I bet this has been a great season for those salt companies. They just go to sand next.

A complete roundup of idiotic David Price trade proposals

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 29, 2014 -> 02:07 PM) I posted it in Diamond Club too. I said in that thread, there are some meat head fans, but I genuinely think that Sox fans on the internet are some of the most reasonable and well schooled fans in all of sports. If anything we are more negative than most. -
That Luongo contract still bites.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 29, 2014 -> 12:38 PM) *pops in Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, gets in car* Ha. I was listening to that this morning.
-
QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jan 29, 2014 -> 10:30 AM) Y'all just don't get it. It's not the 2.5 inches of snow. The roads are complete ice. Making fun of Atlanta residents because their cars won't drive on ice is idiotic. Southerners like them have no problem making fun of us when we are driving on ice and living in sub zero temps.
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 29, 2014 -> 09:13 AM) Yeah, you can just throw on some headphones and zone out for a while. I do that with snow blowing/shoveling too but its definitely more work. My yard is tiny, I bet sitting on riding mower with a cold one in a large yard is awesome.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 29, 2014 -> 09:11 AM) Ugh. Replacement level players making $4 million per is not a good idea. Especially when Andrew Ladd is making 400k more, and he's the guy that they turned away because he would be "too expensive."
-
QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jan 25, 2014 -> 09:26 PM) My power rankings for outside maintenance: 1. Snow Shovel 2. Push Mower 3. Riding Mower 4. Snow Blower I hate snow blowers and prefer to get a workout when shoveling or mowing! Hate snow blowers huh? You are more than welcome to shovel my 125 foot driveway.
-
Seeing the Atlanta residents talk about their "snowpocalypse" is pretty funny. "All residents got out of work and school and got on the highway at the same time, and then there was SNOW and it was SLIPPERY!!" Yeah, we call that rush hour here.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 29, 2014 -> 07:56 AM) Gee. What a surprise. He's Bryan Bickell. Maybe he'll show up in the playoffs. He's literally playing just like he always has. Surprise!!

Paulie is only going to play vs LHP. De Aza is most likely odd man out or backing up OF'ers. I'd be shocked if Gillespie is on the roster.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 26, 2014 -> 01:22 AM) McGary is the most overrated cbb player since Tyrus Thomas. A hilarious testament to how some people only remember March because he was not good at all before then. And then this idiot cost himself a boat load of cash by not cashing in Tyrus style. Wait, I thought that was Aaron craft. -

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jan 25, 2014 -> 09:19 PM) Maybe I'm in the minority for Michigan fans, but I think they play better without McGary. Obviously I'd rather have McGary than not, but this team in my opinion plays much better with only 1 post, 3 wings, and 1 point. Having McGary play Morgan/Horford made things awkward and slow. Granted McGary was just coming back from an injury, but never the less I prefer the style Michigan is playing and it's working currently. I don't know. A possible first round pick who had a huge hand in them getting to the final game last year? Seems pretty good. -

No Payne, no Dawson,no McGary. Eh. Like an exhibition. -
I predict Soxtalk freaks out during his first slump.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 23, 2014 -> 12:15 PM) wouldnt it be hilarious if there were large visible empty sections of seating? That would be terribly embarrassing for the NFL I personally think the NFL should build their own stadium used only for the Super Bowl. Make it seat 150k fans.
-
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 24, 2014 -> 11:32 AM) Smart, intelligent people say stupid s*** all the time. Poking fun at a guy for being dumb once doesn't mean you're saying he's an unintelligent person generally. Gordon Gee for example.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 24, 2014 -> 03:36 PM) Whatever the one that costs $300 is. You are vacuuming but you don't have to do anything other than push a button and empty the tray. And yes, it is from Boston. THAT ROOMBAH IS THE NEW WELKAH, NOW WE JUST NEED A SNOWBLOWAH TO BE THE NEW PEDROIAH There are a ton of models nowadays, its gotten very confusing. They even have a floor washer one that is cool.
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 24, 2014 -> 03:13 PM) My parents got a roombah for Christmas and my absolutely loves it. Do you know which one? Is that one from Boston?

I think in a rebuild its VERY important to have a manager on the same page as you if you are a GM. Otherwise the players you want to play in certain situations wont play and could possibly hurt morale and their growth. For example, Ozzie would probably still trot out Konerko for 75% of the AB's whereas I believe Hahn only wants him to play against lefties and not all the time.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 24, 2014 -> 01:18 PM) GMAILS DOWN GMAILS DOWN AHHHHH Mine wasnt.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 24, 2014 -> 02:11 PM) So a colleague of mine at work was doing pull-ups on one of those bars you put in your door frame or whatever, and the thing came loose and he fell on his neck and permanently damaged his spinal cord, causing what appears to be paralysis from the waist down, with some basic movement in his upper body. Everybody who uses these things make certain it is really in there correctly and provides the appropriate stability necessary. I have never used one because I never felt safe using them, but I know several of you probably do, so please be careful. Wow, I do use one as well, in fact my new one is just tension based. I do usually make sure my feet are underneath me because of exactly what you said.
