  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 03:05 PM) That would make them an even better deal if you consider there's a chance that does happen. Pension funds have a bunch of advantages over the average 401k. Built in economies of scale combined with professional management combined with a long-term outlook. Some of those can be eliminated by an active, intelligently managed 401k plan, but there's nothing I can do that makes my paperwork as simple as a pension plan. Of course pensions have HUGE advantages, you make more money than you put in.
  2. Clearer version looks like he does slap at her. Maybe 2-4 games.
  3. They've released the name and pictures of the "victim"
  4. I'm guessing that Hyde gets 2 games just due to being in that situation. 0-2 would be my guess.
  5. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:32 PM) People have been saying this about Peanut for like 5 years now. Last year was probably the best season of his career and the year before that was probably the second best. Im willing to wager he spends a significant amount of time out the next 2 seasons.
  6. QUOTE (Boogua @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 02:28 PM) +1 Columbus isnt happy valley, the cops dont let a girl who is the daughter of another cop get paid off. Watch the video, she's lucky she isnt being arrested for assault.
  7. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:09 PM) She'll say whatever guarantees the check to cash. LOL. Video http://www.610wtvn.com/player/?mid=23521022 Really starts around 3:00. Looks like she slaps, he pushes and walks away.
  8. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 12:40 PM) 3K... wow just wow. I guess if people are willing to pay that much, go for broke. I agree its insane. I just bought a house in Oak park so I was initially thinking of selling and moving but i can get double in rent of what my mortgage payment is.
  9. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 12:25 PM) No offense but why in the world do people pay those prices to live somewhere? 2 bedrooms are starting to go for 3k over here. Proximity to the beset restaurants in chicago, public trans and the highways are big pulls. Our building historically has been full of doctors doing their residency at Rush.
  10. "Victim" making a statement tomorrow. Im expecting an apology.
  11. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 10:14 AM) f***, it better not be, I literally just got it from Amazon. Luckily they replace everything.
  12. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 10:36 PM) Anyone here do work with landlord/tenant laws in Chicago? If so let me know. Side note...rock, this involves our previous landlord, not current. LOL. I've had to sue a previous landlord back in the day for my security deposit back since he used it on upgrades due to "damage". Bulls*** artists, all of them. Side note: listed my place for rent yesterday for 2700 to see if anyone wanted to overpay, 4 people already called me. Crazy how high rent has gotten.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 03:53 PM) And yet 40% of people less than 10 years from retirement, people who should be counting on these things, have >80% of their money in high-risk stocks. And that's from the already-filtered group of people who actually can get 401k's. Saying it louder that people who make mistakes are dumb doesn't make it a good program. The assumption that everyone is smart isnt something that should be taken into consideration. A good portion of us will die before we ever reach retirement age. Once again, retirement is a luxury and a choice, not a right.
  14. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 03:55 PM) You could, but you'd also be losing out on your employer match. I can see SS' point that the fees can be bulls*** and you have no choice in the matter. But I agree, wealthy retirement isn't a right. You shouldn't need 50-60k a year when you're retired. Teachers in Chicago b**** about their salaries and then they end up making 3/4 of their salary for life. Politicians and union bosses work a day and get a six figure pension for life. It's a stupid system. Employer match isnt a standard thing, in fact I've only seen it twice my entire career. It's a value-add of working for that company.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 03:42 PM) You may say it's not rocket science, but the actual data about 401k's say that it may as well be. 40% of the people with 401k's are making a basic, obvious, enormous mistake that will, when the next bubble popping occurs, lead to their savings being hammered right before retirement. They won't be out on the street. Because people find it harder these days to actually save their own money instead of banking on these stupid ideas called pensions. Its not rocket science to manage a 401k, s*** put your money in a bank account that yields a return and you dont do anything.
  16. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 03:32 PM) Well that's true, your lack of choice does suck. But your employer must be getting some kind of deal with that company if they choose to work with them. Maybe that allows them to match at a higher percent? You can still go out and get your own 401k plan, and if its underfunded its because you didnt put enough away to retire. Pensions make zero sense to me, we will pay you because you worked for X amount of years? A wealthy retirement isnt a right.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 01:35 PM) The management costs of having each person holding a 401k plan are vastly higher than having a centralized pension fund. The biggest winner in this case is the financial industry; they get a much larger fraction of the money people invest for their retirement. Costs? What costs?
  18. Prepare to be underwhelmed by the return for Crain.
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 11:57 AM) Most sane people would agree, in principle. However, the problem with that is, what do you do in the transition? You would then have obligations without an in-flow for those who already have pensions. That is a disaster. The only way to fix it really, is to either clean-slate the whole thing (like Detroit is doing), or do a mass-transition of the obligations (which most states and municipalities don't have the cash to fund). The past contracts non-withstanding I dont understand why ANYONE hired lets say today would be eligible for a pension. These cities from Now ON should eliminate any pension. Frankly I dont understand the availability of a pension. In chicago the pensions are ridiculous. Bus drivers and such making 6 figure pensions for the rest of their lives is insane.
  20. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 11:56 AM) Bushrod too? Oh I thought we were talking about McBride.
  21. kaitlin and jeremy's sex scene is on youtube. Its pretty obvious, and they clearly stopped early but you can hear when he thrusts.
  22. I dont get pensions. Why not just take some of their salary and let them put it into a 401k like the rest of us? Stop the idea of pensions right now moving forward.
  23. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 11:16 AM) Right calf strain. I didn't see anything about being out more than the rest of today though. Just announced, torn achilles.
  24. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 06:11 PM) Having worked at many golf courses, and I don't mean to profile, but Asians are the worst on courses. They are slow and inconsiderate. I enjoyed your story greatly. I've caught them driving on greens, trying to negotiate fees, booking for 4 and showing up with 12, and even trying to play again without paying. I don't get it. And I think he thought maybe I did it on purpose because the ranger had just talked to them on the hole before. Who knows, it was hilarious after everything. I tried to be as nice as possible but this guy just wanted a fight at first for some reason. My friends were dying when I got out of the cart and he backed off.
  25. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 04:39 PM) Sounds like he has short man syndrome, but anyway congrats on the nice drive. I hope you at least got the 2-putt birdie. Lipped the eagle putt and tapped the birdie, all while he was staring at me from the next tee box. Then I fist pumped.
