  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 11:08 AM) Dude, you have your last semester of college in front of you. Go spend the night with a random while it's still so easy. Don't waste it worrying about a young chick who has no idea what she wants yet. Yup.
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 08:36 AM) Had no choice. Would've liked to stay with UVerse but not available at my new townhouse and DirecTV couldn't put the dish anywhere due to trees and HOA. Heard that you can't use it if you have Comcast. I'll give it a few days I guess. Not true whatsoever, its under Xfinity in the drop down box.
  3. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 05:54 AM) After a week w/o TV, I finally got Comcast installed. Of course they didn't activate HBO or Showtime, so I have to call today. Not too mention one of the boxes isn't working but I think it may be because the specific line to the room isn't an active cable line. Anyone with Comcast have problems logging into HBOGo? Whats the issue with Go? It's actually my software doing the authentication so maybe I can help troubleshoot. Comcast takes a few days to update their database that does the authentication into that app.
  4. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 04:57 PM) What, no Illini fan comments? He's also now heading east to prep school... Hearing it would be a HUGE turnaround if he qualified to play next year at UL. Also, Quintin Snider who was previously committed to UL and a borderline 5 star, decommitted an hour ago. Expect OSU and IU to be serious options. Yup, expecting OSU to be all over this kid. He's close with Russell
  5. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 04:24 PM) Rock do you sense that Arizona and whatever other deals were just going to pale in comparison to Avisail/Montas? I think there's this false narrative being created here that we lost out on a prospect haul because of an unwillingness to give money over. Where league wide were all these outstanding prospects being shipped around? We mustve lost out on a bunch of guys that went elsewhere, to hear some here tell it. From what I heard AZ was offering a similar package to what we got but they want us to foot quite a bit of his bill. I would guess mgmt wanted to unload the entire contract if they could, and they did. I mean would a package around Bradley really do anything for anyone on this board? How about getting Holmberg back and eating salary?
  6. QUOTE (HeGone7 @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 04:14 PM) Honestly, this is how I feel. It's a catch 22 I guess but I still feel like more could've been done. I wasn't in the room during his calls but to not make a single move with Rios, Alexei, Lindy, Beckham, Dunn, or Dayan is just shocking. I can understand one, but not all. Beckham, Dunn and Dayan werent getting traded. Lindstrom was borderline The other two are good chips and you want value for them that exceeds what they bring to the White Sox, or what they could bring even at the waiver deadline.
  7. QUOTE (HeGone7 @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 04:11 PM) I understand I am likely in the minority here but this is a failure in my eyes on Hahn and the Sox. I am all for getting a fair deal, and that may not be "the best deal", but you cannot fall on your face as we did. 2nd to last in baseball, big contracts on books and players clogging positions you hoped to clear for young guys to audition. I just can't fathom that of all the years we see major players moving for major prospects, this is the year they do not. There is still time to deal some guys in August, and the offseason obviously, but in my eyes things have delayed our recovery time. I get we didn't want garbage or a guy just to have one, but creativity, as we saw with Boston is key in these situations. I can't help but be grossly disappointed and maybe that disappointment is being channeled incorrectly onto Hahn, but where else do we put the blame? What players are clogging positions where we have MLB ready guys?
  8. "I hope he stands strong and gets good value for these players" "WHY DIDNT HE DO ANYTHING!!!!" So much LOL.
  9. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 03:22 PM) Beware, its not like bbq you see today. Its different, but delish in its own way. Get 2 bbq beef sandwiches and load up on the sauce. That seals it, going tomorrow. The wife wanted twin anchors though.....
  10. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 02:37 PM) I only went to Mickey's a few times in the years before we moved, but I remember their ribs were pretty damn good. And yea, Alpine is the s***. Also, not to far from you is Russell's BBQ, delish bbq beef sandwiches. My wife just told me about that, said its legendary. I was shocked I was never told about it before since I am a BBQ fiend. There is a new place opened on Taylor st called County BBQ, its AWESOME.
  11. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 11:27 AM) Yea OP has some very different architecture/layouts throughout. So this place is a bit farther away, but it's one of the best gyro places in Chicago: http://www.yelp.com/biz/petes-red-hots-oak-park I'm a huge Mickey's fan too. I'm also a devout Alpine customer.
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 10:15 AM) I appreciate your insight, Rock...but let's not start bagging on Peavy because he's been moved. His contract was widely considered to be fair at worst, and a bargain at best. He had a nice year last year and was having a very nice year this year until the rib injury. Yes, he's had his injury problems, but has bounced back well from all of them. Fangraphs had him as a $20 million pitcher last year, and he's on his way to being a $12-15 million pitcher this year. His era is inflated from a couple of starts he made while pitching with a broken rib, which has led people to claim he is "league average." He's not a league average starter right now, he's a solid 2 or a 3 on a contending team. Acquiring that in the midst of a playoff race is difficult, even more so now with the second wild card. I think we did ok. Getting Garcia was a nice get, but at the same time, the commodity we moved was a nice get with a reasonable contract. I admire Hahn for really being creative and finding a way to get a high-upside player that isn't still in A-ball. Hopefully this deal comes back to haunt the Tigers down the road, but we'll have to wait and see. I'm not trying to bag on him, its just he has no value for a team like the White Sox, zero. And we took that and added a piece that has tremendous value while shedding payroll.
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 10:38 AM) Tell us a bit about the place....and congrats, Rock! Its a Farmhouse built in 1883, very typical of the historic area of Oak Park where it has a front deck, siding and shutters. I am planning on adding an addition and doing the kitchen before I move in. The thing about the area is that the lot is a very important piece because they differ quite a bit from block to block, however this one is 60x190 which is large. Its also located very close to Frank Lloyd Wright's home and studio which is very cool.
  14. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 09:41 AM) Oh fancy, on the North side I looked everywhere as long as it was west of ridgeland. My wife is from there so she was my guide. Close to transportation with a big lot, both are valuable in that town it appears. I'm still very tentative about moving to the "burbs" but ill give it a shot.
  15. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 09:56 AM) People need to stop saying Reed needs to go anywhere. He makes peanuts. He only goes if we're blown away with an offer. I havent heard anything legit surrounding trade talks for him. However that may change with that fireballer from Boston. That guy has future closer written all over him.
  16. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 08:57 AM) I don't disagree with this. So far, I'd give Hahn a C+. Rios, Ramirez, De Aza, Reed, and Dunn need to go today. Rios had his bags packed monday essentially so if his foot checks out I would be shocked if he wasnt gone. Heard no chatter on Reed, Dunn and De Aza whatsoever
  17. This was a hell of a deal for us. Peavy is an injury prone expensive starter and we got high upside prospects and our RF'er for next year moving forward. We also did this without paying a dime of Peavy's salary. Well done, so well done.
  18. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 09:28 PM) A colleague of mine is tempted to post incredibly high rent prices for his condo just to see what he can max out at. Where are you buying in OP? I lived at Jackson and Wesley back in the day (right near Fox Park). Right down the street from Holmes school on Woodbine between chicago and augusta.
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 31, 2013 -> 05:47 AM) Buffalo, San Diego State, and Cal. They won't even notice he is gone. They wont notice he's gone because the position is stacked, not because of who they are playing. SDSU was a 9 win team last year and Cal gave us a better game than Nebraska did. Its not like that schedule is so much easier than playing some of the Big Ten teams.
  20. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 08:43 PM) Awesome Rock! I grew up there, definitely a good place to raise a family. One benefit to living in Rogers Park is the insanely cheap rent, our 2br got 'raised' to $1185 a month (from 1150). Most of my friends in River North-ish area pay close to that per person. Not even kidding I had to take my listing down because it was starting to be a bidding war and we havent even close on our house in OP yet.
  21. Sending a message with at least a 3 game suspension, wow. Very stiff compared to other teams in the conference.
  22. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 05:03 PM) So Westerville is trashy? Does it have good strip clubs??? Its....different. Not necessarily trashy since the income level and education level are good, just alot of country rebellion. Hard to describe. I find just about everyone from ohio really "country" FYI.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 04:14 PM) So the 401k is supposed to make economic crashes even worse? That actually sounds...correct. No the payback is economy-based. For example my father retired with half of what he was supposed to because he retired in 08.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 03:57 PM) That's supposed to be the point of the 401K also. If it was economy-independent.
  25. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 03:50 PM) Nice work, God. That side tat is so typical of girls from westerville.
