Gavin Floyd to DL - Out 14-19 months for TJ Surgery
RockRaines replied to Balta1701's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 3, 2013 -> 11:49 AM) I think you are just arguing the point and not Floyd specifically. I agree with your point, but Floyd was obviously not at his peak value. He was worth a lot more in the offseason than he would have been at the deadline, and he's obviously worthless in a trade now. But if they dumped him for less than what was perceived as market value at the time the argument goes the other way. The Sox have been shopping him for years with no realistic takers in their eyes. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 3, 2013 -> 11:48 AM) Yeah, unsurprisingly, when healthy players are on the court playing, I tend to want to root for them. When healthy players are jumping up and down on the sidelines and throwing down insane pre-game dunks, and then sitting out games, I tend to get frustrated. I dont see how there is any defending him at this point. He's healthy and yet CHOOSES to sit out. It's weird.

QUOTE (Wanne @ May 3, 2013 -> 11:14 AM) This has ALWAYS been a crux for this team....not knowing when to let players for something in return when they're peak value. Aka, every team in sports. -
As far as played on the Sox "hating" AJP, its simply not the case. He didnt have the close circle like early on with Crede and A-row but he was well respected by teammates especially Flowers who he helped mentor. One ball got loose and this board turned into a s*** show.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 3, 2013 -> 10:04 AM) rumors are the Blackhawks didnt like the videos and pressured executives to fire her. Yet they knew about them before she was hired, it was on her resume. Like I said before, I went to HS and kind of grew up with the girl, shes super nice and was just trying to make it in the broadcasting world.

QUOTE (zenryan @ May 3, 2013 -> 08:17 AM) wow after watching those two Sports Nutz videos on the Deadspin comments section, I'm certain she sucked her way to a job at CSN. Those videos were horrible. She auditioned. Comcast knew those videos were out there too. It's bulls*** she got fired. -
So much fail in this thread. AJP is terrible against slow low away and high and hard. Reed was going high and hard and let it go a little late.

QUOTE (balfanman @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 07:59 AM) This is the only post I will have on this topic because I do not want this to turn into a religious debate. I agree with the above quote 100%. As a devout christian and one who believes that the Bible is the Word of God; Dan Bernstein really ticked me off yesterday when he stated that the Bible is outdated in alot of areas and needs to be "reformed" as he says. Of course "reformed" to his way of thinking; which is, in my opinion 100% wrong! I, for one, will find something else to listen to on the way home from work. I only tolerated B & B before when they were actually talking sports. I will now not be tuning in to AM 670 when Bernstein is on. I'm out. The Bible has been reformed to support the wishes of empires through the years so why not reform it to actually make sense in the common times?

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 27, 2013 -> 03:17 PM) Off the beaten path but I used to live right by Healy's on Madison in Forest Park and really liked it. Healy's westside is not off the beaten path. Love that place. Half mexican restaurant half sports bar.

First bike ride in, up to LP and back about 15 miles. Perfect day out there.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 12:52 PM) I'm not aware of any religious authority that Broussard has. This wasn't Collins' priest saying it, it was some other guy who also happens to be a Christian claiming that someone else can't be a Christian because they do something Broussard believes to be a sin. I dont buy that anyone has religious authority over someone else. Its YOUR beliefs. A great deal of those false "advisors" are complete phonies. How about the millions people donated to the Baker family in the 80's, nice job.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 12:19 PM) But he didn't add any moral qualifier to it. He didn't say it was "wrong." He's saying it doesn't fit with Christianity (and again, his version of it). That's a key distinction here. You cannot make a statement like someone isnt a christian without judging them. Who is he to say who is christian and who isnt. Its bulls***. Its his way of condemning Collins while hiding behind his faith.
-
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 12:13 PM) Ok? I'm just saying I don't see how it's bigoted to say here are my religious beliefs and he's not following them so he's not a Christian. It's pretty matter of fact. It's not a personal judgement (although i'm sure he has some). Under that kind of definition of bigot, you're a bigot for not being tolerant of his statements. Thats judging. There is no fact around christianity at all. There are tons of version of the book christians worship and tons of offshoot sects. He judged him on air and proclaimed what he was doing as "wrong".
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 12:00 PM) I admit, when I first asked rhetorically if he wanted to keep his job, I was unaware he made these statements on OTL...that does put it in a little different perspective for me. However, this is precisely what bothers folks that are not big into religion: the need that religious types seem to have to openly judge others, especially when it is not really relevant or appropriate. First of all, one of the biggest tenets of Christianity is not to judge others, and yet, this is what they constantly do. Secondly, why does Chris Broussard, or any other christian, for that matter, feel that on the day of this announcement, it is appropriate or relevant what HIS beliefs or opinions of Jason Collins are? Who the f*** is Chris Broussard that any of us should care what he thinks? When did Chris Broussard become someone who's opinions on the righteousness of of ANYONE should somehow be relevant? Christianity these days is based on exclusion and judgement. I particularly like when the real crazies say they follow only whats in the Bible yet use science as a way to discredit gays.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 10:51 AM) I loved Cersei's very subtle "Father, don't make me do it again" line. One thing this show does great is they don't waste time, almost every single line has some sort of meaning behind it, or some sort of foreshadowing. If you haven't read the books (this is to anyone), you really need to pay close attention because they hint to a TON throughout the show but in very little lines that aren't always picked up. It's very hard to not spill the beans to folks who havent read the books.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 29, 2013 -> 03:27 PM) I wish this was the final season of Mad Men. Only sticking with it to see how it ends next year, and I'm sure ill be disappointed. Just started back up last weekend made it through the first two seasons. Hoping I get bored before the show makes a downturn.
