  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 1, 2012 -> 09:36 PM) In this s***ty conference? If Amare/Melo play like Amare/Melo, they could've been. That's not even talking injuries. Anyway, Congrats to Tyson. He's improved so much in the last couple years. Nope, they couldnt have been. They are a team that barely made the playoffs and had to fire their coach during the season. They were never going to be elite. Its time to abandon that horrific prediction.
  2. QUOTE (Jake @ May 1, 2012 -> 09:36 PM) Had they just played remotely repeatable basketball in the half-court it would have been a pretty close game. Oh well, I hope Thibs gets them ready for the next one. Philly is in an awesome mindset right now, we need to hit them in the mouth and show them they don't belong. Credit their coaching for instilling that belief in them, it really showed in the way they played. DRose coming out with the game ball was kind of dumb. I fully expect them to be focused on the road as they are one of the best road teams in the NBA.
  3. QUOTE (dasox24 @ May 1, 2012 -> 08:35 PM) Yeah, you find that out quickly... but what really gets in the way is traveling for work. I know there are workouts you can do in the hotel, but to me, it just doesn't feel the same. Regardless, I joined LA Fitness a few days ago in hopes that wherever I travel, I'll hopefully be able to find a fairly close location. I've been picking hotels that specifically have nice gyms or Ive been doing day trips regionally so I can come home and do a late one at my gym. Traveling kills your fitness and especially your diet.
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 1, 2012 -> 09:28 PM) Oh, and I've just learned Tyson Chandler has won DPOY. Yes, I was wrong about the Knicks overall. But I had solid reasoning for thinking they could be elite. Tyson was one of them. If Carmelo doesn't shoot 38% for nearly 40 games, and if Amare doesn't have easily the worst year of his career, I could've very well been right. No, they were never going to be elite. A 7th seed isnt a few breaks away from being elite.
  5. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 1, 2012 -> 05:45 PM) He was brought on formally to "compete" with Gosder Cherilus at RT. But Cherilus is slightly better than Frank Omiyale, so Reiff will probably be starting right off the bat. I think he's similar to Carimi in that he can start at RT and can move into LT. I would like to see the same path for Gabe. Thats actually one of the reasons I wanted the Bears to take Reiff because then you have two bookends for many years to come. But alas, we needed a 3-4 rush LB.
  6. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 1, 2012 -> 05:24 PM) I guess because I thought maybe people in this thread had individual opinions and would want to discuss basketball, instead of merely saying "There are only 2 good teams in the East and with Rose injured no one can beat the Heat." If I wanted that type of hard hitting news, Id start watching ESPN again. You could always just start making absolute claims, thats always fun. We can talk about how it is assured the Heat will win every title from 2011 on and will easily eclipse the 72-10 record the Bulls posted.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 1, 2012 -> 04:32 PM) You really think the guy should have been suspended or fired for ill advised twitter humor? I would have been.
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 1, 2012 -> 04:13 PM) Most people didn't give Reiff a LT grade. Which people? He is supposedly starting day 1 at RT for the Lions to succeed Backus at LT.
  9. OSU also had 2 other top recruits not drafted in Brewster and Shugarts. Brewster was a 5 star #1 C in the country, and I think Shug was a 4 star. Nate Ebner was a rugby player who walked on. Actually a great success story.
  10. Andy's movie reenactments had me rolling.
  11. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 1, 2012 -> 02:27 PM) I thought Parks and Rec was perfectly fine last week. Not great, but not bad at all. I thought it was really funny actually.
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 1, 2012 -> 01:33 PM) Hello, you are here because you gave us money. Now we will give you ribs. Also, you will watch the debate. If you like the debate, you will give us more money. That is all. Ron Swanson. "someone forgot to pay the cable bill, amiright?"
  13. I hit the weights before softball games and my first several throws are usually ridiculously bad.
  14. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 02:06 PM) I Supposedly Wisconsin is getting paid between $200-$250k to come (Wisconsin has one of the largest hockey stadiums of any NCAA team, Kohl Center holds 15,325) where as Notre Dame can only hold 5,000, Ohio 2,850 and Minnesota 9,305. FYI, new Goggin can hold about 4,000 people, its quite a bit bigger than the old one, but still not as big as Kohl.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 02:17 PM) I was just giving you a hard time for slighting the other game. That being said, since 2007, Miami & Notre Dame have been much more successful than Wisco or Minny. Miami had possibly the largest championship choke-collapse in college hockey history. Would have been our first national title in anything major.
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 1, 2012 -> 08:35 AM) There is no free speech argument...it's not like anyone's going to put him in prison for being obnoxious or anything... Just because I have a right to free speech doesn't mean I can go tell my boss to go f himself and not expect to get canned within 3 seconds... Anyone else on here have an agreement where they could get fired by what the post on social media? I know I do.
  17. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 10:47 PM) Some of you need to stop freaking out about Derrick not coming back to 100% unless ptatc has spoken and I've missed it. My questions is, and please excuse my ignorance, any chance Derrick wasn't 100% healthy from his ankle/foot injuries and his put more pressure on his leg/knee which caused the ACL torn? Is this even possible? Similar to Peavy changing his mechanics because of an injury and tearing his lat last year? In my understanding when I tore my knee it was because of other ancillary problems I was having with my leg which weakened certain ligaments and also put alot of extra stress on my ligament. Its possible that had something to do with it. Second, D ROse and the Bulls can afford therapies that I couldnt like the platelet therapy mentioned below where they essentially inject enriched cells into the injury that make it heal much faster which allows you to rehab quicker and sometimes stronger. It was more than 10k out of pocket just for my scenario, I am sure he is going to pay tons more to get that done like 7 days a week or something.
  18. Of course Marty doesnt agree, he is Joe. Second, workplaces like the Sun Times make you sign a contract that makes it grounds for termination if any discriminatory behavior is shown, and Joe showed it publicly, to a colleague. He's "guilty" of being a f***ing idiot. People are fired for their personal pictures on facebook if its against your company policy. I know at my small company we are bound to our behavior on social media sites and anything against the rules is grounds for termination.
  19. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 04:02 PM) There must be some posters here who both 1) hate Joe Cowley 2) employ that kind of sexist language on a regular basis Said folks must have loads of inner conflict today! Making sexist remarks over the internet to colleagues is grounds for termination no matter where you work these days. So I would say you havent scratched the surface of why its being discussed.
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 03:30 PM) Too soon, guys. I just broke down into the fetal position
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 12:35 PM) Derrick Rose unlike any player we've seen before depends on his knee to make him as good as he is... Chris Paul adjusted well because he has elite vision and losing that half-step didn't ruin that. Derrick Rose was MVP because he had (had ) unrivaled athleticism. "This kid can jump out of the building, did you not get the memo?". His ability to cut, and especially to change direction at the rim is how he separated himself from the pack. Rose needs to change direction on the move and at high speeds to be effective. His work ethic certainly will help him. God save us. Every explosive athlete depends on his knees, and Derrick's ACL was apparently a bit weak, most likely because of the stress from his other injuries. An ACL surgery is incredibly commonplace and his age and work ethic should help him heal. I dont expect him to lose any ability at all.
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 12:13 PM) Sam Smith makes me feel slightly better about long-term possibilities. I dont understand why he wouldnt recover fully. The kid is in his early 20's, a full recovery is 100% expected. His work ethic is also a huge plus in rehab. He'll be fine, I just hope the roster turns out fine.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 10:05 AM) Redrawing the district to get most of the residents out of it gets you back to depending on people at the UC for business. Their target area for this is probably as far west as Damen and north to division south to Taylor, east to the river. Just like the target they are building on the fannie mae block and the costco on ashland and roosevelt.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 09:39 AM) Unless the UC moved the other side of the Kennedy, it is on the west side. Like I said, once you get off the main drag, it gets scary. The numbers bear that out when 50% of a neighborhood is making under $10 an hour The district encapsulates areas west of western which is garbage, because thats how the district was drawn years ago. Most of those people arent the target market for any development over here including the new shopping area. The financial info is incredibly inaccurate as to most of the population in the west loop area which is their target.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2012 -> 09:36 AM) Heck I have been waiting all my life to see some progress around the ballpark. Hopefully it finally happens. The issue with that has always been the fact its a super old neighborhood that has been surrounded by garbage and immigrant chinese. There has always been push back from long time residents on big box development and the entire area across the highway has been a gang-land. Recently the gang-land has been reduced and there has been a slight turnover in residents, but at the heart of it there isnt alot of people in bridgeport calling for bars/etc around the park other than the little bit on halsted.
