QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 10:30 AM) He Gone I assume? He even had Adam saying He Gone. And Jordan continues to be extremely cute, especially on after dark last night.
  2. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 09:41 AM) Quentin's value was higher last month then it will be this offseason. Agree about the rotation. I think Danks is gone as well. Maybe, you dont know that as the market dictates the value and pretty much only 2 teams needed a RH slugger the deadline whereas in the offseason many more teams will be interested.
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 09:38 AM) The first mp3 players came out in 1999. Smart phones came out many years before the iphone. Tablet PCs were around since the 80s. Yes, but which ones are the standard? Do people say MP3 player or Ipod? I had a creative mp3 player in 2000, it was quickly replaced by the much more evolutionary iPod. Tablets were DEAD until the iPad came out, now every company is trying to make one just like the iPad's design. Maybe they didnt ultimately invent the concepts, but they established the standard.
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 07:19 AM) I see the brainwashing has worked for many. Well, the largest 3 technological innovations in the last decade that have been gobbled up by the mainstream user were probably MP3 players, smart phones and tablet Pc's. I believe Apple not only leads the market in those categories, but they clearly influenced the design and user experience of all 3 as well.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 09:18 AM) Perfect example right there. Remember all of those great arms we had in Mike MacDougal, Andy Sisco, David Aardsma and company? Damn, there went my appetite. The best part was how excited we all were for this "flame-throwing" bullpen when it turned out they just threw hard nowhere close to the strike zone.
  6. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 09:22 AM) Yep. Which again, makes this year's deadline such a joke. Not really. They clearly didnt want to mail it in and thats understandable. Quentin and Thornton were being heavily shopped and honestly I heard a deal was close for Q, but obviously the value wasnt there so they didnt bite. I expect this offseason will be the end of Q and most likely a starter so Sale and Stewart can move into the rotation.
  7. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 06:06 PM) That whole city is reliant on Manning so much it's unbelievable. The day he retires, they will be in deep s***. Would you say their economy is based on Peyton Manning
  8. They are definitely shopping Quentin regardless this winter.
  9. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 04:34 PM) Yanks claimed C.Pena. There goes the PK Idea. Pena is being pulled back.
  10. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 01:13 PM) Aging like a fine wine. The guy rocks. I'm thinking the WS Grand Slam, at the point of contact, should be the concourse statue. I think the fist raised in the air one it went out and he started rounding
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 03:28 PM) Don't make me sick Kalapse or qwerty on you. Santana >> Beckham. Not even close. A power hitting catcher is definitely better than a struggling 2B in value alone. However we have a decent young core comparable to what you listed of theirs, pitching and offense alike. Sale Danks Floyd Morel Alexei Beckham Viciedo Flowers Stewart Humber Not that bad of a core.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 01:59 PM) lol. That was a good one. Had forgotten about that. At least our collapses are drawn out over a several month span, theirs was almost immediate.
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 01:41 PM) I guarantee you neither the Yankees or Red Sox want to see Detroit in the ALDS. Possibility of seeing Verlander twice in cold weather? That's no good. As long as he doesnt have to field his position.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 05:39 PM) Hill is a good pickup for them. Edit: NVM, they traded Kelly Johnson to get Hill. That's a downgrade. Johnson has been pretty bad though.
  15. I'd f***ing love Kubel, but the Twins would never let him go to us. I would be willing to part with some serious talent for him.
  16. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 11:51 AM) Looking to get wireless speakers for my home theatre system. Can I just buy the speakers and set them up to my amp or do I have to get a new amp as well? There is usually a transmitter that will plug into your existing receiver and then it transmits the signal to the speakers. So it should all work with your existing set up.
  17. <!--quoteo(post=2466650:date=Aug 24, 2011 -> 11:30 AM:name=BigSqwert)--> QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 11:30 AM) <!--quotec-->What's Shingo up to these days?
  18. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 11:24 AM) I hope a lot more season ticket holders are doing the same thing. Money talks. I'm sure they dont care much about my tiny investment, but I just hope it gets forwarded to a few people and gets some sort of reaction. This would be my 10th year with season tickets and I'm not renewing, I should be the exact target market that the Sox should worry about losing.
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 11:19 AM) Same here. Preferably Kenny too. Thats literally the subject of my letter to the ticket dept after they sent my postseason invoice.
  20. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 11:18 AM) Hey, if you're giving out free tickets... I've gone to 3 games this year, which is outlandishly low for me. And those 3 I attended were free, which is the only way I'll go. I will not pay a dime towards ticket sales until Ozzie's gone. Ill throw em up here time to time when I dont feel like going through selling them or when there is no interest.
  21. QUOTE (scenario @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 09:26 AM) I like how Flowers was "given up for dead" because of one year... 2006 - .838 2007 - .866 2008 - .921 2009 - .939 2010 - .768 (.768??? he clearly sucks let's dump him) 2011 - .890 (oops) Not all of it was his numbers, some was actually watching him at the big league level where his swing looked long and loopy. The Flowers that is up right now is not the same guy as last season.
  22. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 11:12 AM) This is the first time since 1984 that I haven't gone to a game in person, not counting a rain out I had a ticket for in April. Nothing that this team has done this year will push me to go buy a ticket before the season is up. Having Thome sitting on the bench or DHing won't change anything either. I'll give you some free ones so you can go and weep yourself to sleep after a loss.
  23. What a joke. Can we trade KW and Ozzie to the Cubs?
  24. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 08:38 PM) You are letting 1 month of bad performance affect your view of him. That is 1 month in the past 22 months of baseball. Matt Thornton is good. He is worth $6 million to this team and to several other teams. There's alot more than that influencing his views on alot of topics. Thornton will be shopped to teams that covet him this offseason. If they arent good offers he's worth more to the Sox.
