  1. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 02:16 PM) What do you not get about what I'm saying? For the 2nd time, I never said the kid should lie to the NCAA. But, what is "sketchy" is how the picture came out - no one on Tennessee's side took it. Therefore, it was Craft's picture and he (or his Dad) turned it into the NCAA. That's low. Just go to OSU and do your thing. Don't try to get another school in trouble. He's like the tattle-tale everyone hates in grade school. It looks like he went out of his way to tell the NCAA about his illegal visit. Let's say the picture was some random person's and the NCAA discovered it somehow. Then, if the NCAA came to him and asked about the picture, I wouldn't expect him to lie. But that doesn't seem to be the case based on what we know right now. There were two kids in the picture and the NCAA got ahold of it. Could have been facebook, the internet anything. How do you know nobody from UT took it? They wouldnt admit it if they did. Does Craft have a reason to turn in UT because he decided to commit to another school? It makes zero sense. Just like calling a dad and a kid names on a message board with zero proof that they did anything other than be honest to investigators.
  2. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 12:21 PM) You luck into an INT buy an all-pro receiver not securing a ball and by another one stupidly tipping a ball he had no change catching. I wouldn't call either of those INT's a result of our magnificent D but just random right-place right-time events. The fumble was all D/Tillman, the INTs weren't. It's like some of Cutlert's INT's last year. Would you call an INT made because an average receiver fell down or didn't know his route a masterful defensive play? I wouldn't. And that passing attack will diminish once teams realize you can rush with the Punter and still have a very high chance at a sack. Or by having a DB knock the ball out of a receivers hands for one and having a TE so afraid of a hit that he gator armed a ball he could have caught if he squared up to the ball. I dont see those as lucky at all. We were in the position not only to make a hit, but to make the pick. A WR falling down, or not running the right route is something that may be lucky if the QB threw it right to the guys, but these picks were because of contact or fear or contact, and thats all on the D.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 11:22 AM) That's a strategy that ought to open up the running game though. Hopefully, Forte could then start breaking off 7 yards at a time into the secondary.
  4. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 11:19 AM) Evan Turner could score and score consistently. Thompson has games where he puts in 18, than the next game 5, 3, 7. He maybe be a nice defender at best in college. Turner was probably also a worse shooter and ballhandler. Defense is where Thompson is going to see some minutes anyway. I think Thad has locked up something like 7 wings on scholarship over the next 5 years.
  5. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 10:25 AM) I thought Martz switching to quick "dump" passes to compensate for the horrible o-line was an absolute stroke of genius. He knew their rushers were leaving huge holes and took advantage of that. In the past, this adjustment wouldnt ave been made until after half time, and by then Cutler woudl have been in an ambulance. I'm not sure they would have made an adjustment in previous years. Like the rest of Bears fans, I was ready to pack it in after seeing Cutler almost killed a few times. I was screaming for them to put him in the shotgun to give him some time. The quick slants and the TE over the middle was a brilliant adjustment, but dont overlook Cutler's pre-snap reads on those plays. He has to read blitz, know where its coming from, and then unload to that spot for those plays to happen. It was great all around and changed the entire game.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 10:53 AM) Are you saying if these women you work with wore something they would wear to a club on Saturday night to work, it would be appropriate and your company would have no problem if you or other guys you worked with were to hit on them or make off the cuff remarks? I understand this woman isn't exactly the best example of a professional reporter. She was the one that was asking the Bears during the Super Bowl media day if they would marry her, but still, whether you are an idiot football player or some CEO with 20 advanced degrees, when you are at your place of employment, there are standards you have maintain. No, they would be asked to go home and change because their dress was unprofessional. It would also contribute towards their performance rating.
  7. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 10:16 AM) They can still suck, I'm not a believer yet. The defense looks solid enough, but we still have 0 run game and 0 offensive line, which is not a good thing and not easily improved. I see a team that barely beat one of the worst teams ever week 1 and a team that lucked into 2 INT's and a horribly overrated Cowboys team. How did they "luck" into INT's? Dont you have to be in position, to have coverage, to rush the QB? There are alot of factors into forcing an INT. The run game may be somewhat suspect, but then again, short passes to your RB are running plays in the Martz system. Forte has been very good. We also have a ridiculous passing attack right now with emphasis on spreading the ball around to WR's TE's and RB's. The Bears are hard to defend even with swiss cheese as the O-line.
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 19, 2010 -> 04:52 PM) He will never make a difference at OSU. I've seen him play plenty of times and he rarely shows up against good teams. Athleticism only gets you so far. That was the book on Evan Turner out of HS as well. Turned out pretty good.
  9. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Sep 19, 2010 -> 04:40 PM) Exactly... word on Rivals is that Craft's dad and the UT coaching staff got into it over Craft's de-committment, and it was his dad's way of getting back at UT. If that's true, then Craft is a b**** and so is his dad. You mean on Rival's UT message board. Of course they would want to blame someone else. Calling a kid a b****-ass for being truthful to investigators is pretty sketchy.....almost like something Bruce Pearl would do.
  10. That was a seriously disappointing loss by Iowa last night. I really thought they were going to come back.
  11. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Sep 19, 2010 -> 01:46 AM) Aaron Craft is a b**** for ratting us out. All sorts of illegal s*** happens in recruiting - it's part of the game. And when you decide to commit to a school (Tennessee) and then commit elsewhere later (Ohio St), you don't pile on the school you de-committed from by telling the NCAA about making an unapproved visit to the coach's house. That's some bulls***. Yeah, he probably should have lied for the good of the Tennessee program. LOL. Good thing he has better morals than Bruce Pearl and his staff.
  12. Tough to take a guy seriously criticizing a hitter with the User Name CQMVP, the classic underachiever.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 08:49 PM) I respect the hell out of Joe Paterno. And yet he's brought the conference 0 national titles and has only won the Big Ten 3 times. He's done most of his real work in college football pre-Big Ten.
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 08:16 PM) You obviously don't get it. Maybe if she worked in a sales office, she would wear a suit. Or any profession where you had to act your age and as professional representing a multi-national corporation. Maybe you havent worked enough to know the difference yet, but there is a huge gap between being in college working at a bar, and working for a public company representing them to customers and partners in any profession. Thats why your dental assistant doesnt wear a halter top to work.
  15. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 08:15 PM) I'm sure you'll defend your boy to the end of the world anyway. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3165853 Than the whole Maurice Clarett thing. It was traced all the way back to Youngstown State. I highly doubt Clarrett made it up. There may or may not of been anything with Terrelle Pryor but if something comes out, similar to Reggie Bush, nobody would be surprised. And just cuz OSU and Tressel report themselves, doesn't make it right. LOL, seriously? Tressel taking two ACADEMIC all americans to a bball game after they were done with football is your case? Jesus. Most UM fans actually respect Tressel, I honestly thought you were talking about another coach. JT is considered one of the most upstanding members of the college coaching ranks in football, keep dreaming buddy. Youngstown state=0 sacntions, coaches and athletic program NOT AT FAULT Clarrett getting busted taking money on his OWN=getting thrown out of OSU by Tressel and OSU, once again no sanctions. Pryor=Really? Thats just flat out dumb. Maybe DickRod paid Robinson? Please point out a recruiting class that is an outlier of anything JT has ever done. BTW, he picked up the #1 QB coming in next year as well. Nice try, seriously. It honestly too bad you dont actually respect a coach that brings more to the conference than any other coach.
  16. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 08:11 PM) What you were saying is that it doesn't matter how a woman dressed, that if she is wearing someting tight or showing skin, she deserves whatever treatment she gets. This isn't the 1960's anymore. She can't help how curvy she is. Maybe she should wear a potato sack the next time she goes to work. Maybe she should wear a business outfit. I work with women in sales every day of the week and I know the difference between looking like a bar patron vs looking like a professional. She looks like she is at a bar looking for a man, and was treated as such. If a guy went into a women's locker room dressed in a speedo or in a tight outfit, of course he would be hit on (if they werent lesbians), because that is how you portray yourself. Good try though. You still goggling that private plane case?
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 08:05 PM) Rock, you said in the college football thread that you were raised to respect your rivals. Were you not raised to respect women? Very chauvinistic opinion you have. How do I not respect women based on my response? The girl dressed like a 20 something trying to meet men and thats how she was treated, how is that not respectful? I didnt hear stories of any rape or groping so I am not sure how I am being disrespectful. BTW, please tell me about those coaches buying cars and planes for players, I still havent found anything.
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 06:27 PM) I love how the Twins are somehow the epitome of playoff failure because they keep losing to the Yankees every year. The other years they've made it they lost to the Angels, the eventual World Series champion in 2002, and the A's in 2006 (the latter being the only year in which you could say they choked). They arent the epitome of failure, but then again they make the playoffs and havent won a title in so long. Thats considered failure in today's sports world. Like it or not, thats how it is. The Cubs lost to the eventual champion Marlins, does that lessen the loss?
  19. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 04:38 PM) I think this pic is what she was wearing to the Jets practice. There is nothing wrong with how she is dressed here and nobody's bothered to present an argument as to why her clothes there are wrong, every time I ask someone they change the subject or don't answer, and if they do it's "her pants are too tight." Well when your ass is that big, of course your pants will be tight. That's like telling a woman with big tits that her shirts are too tight... if she isn't showing cleavage then what's she supposed to do? There is no shame to their game at all in Mexico, you walk down the street and you see a woman wearing a corset and a short skirt standing outside of a store selling jewelry or whatever. Yes, but are those women working for a multi-national company? When you represent an organization that works in many different countries, you should dress like a professional if you desire to be treated like one. She dressed like a club-going 20-something looking for a guy, and thats how she was treated.
  20. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 10:51 PM) This is a topic I don't feel the need to get into with an Ohio State fan. You did get into it though, but dont take me as an OSU fan as a negative. If anything I hold UM higher than most other fans across the country. Not only did I live with 3 die hard UM fans in college including one whose family was close personal friends with Bo (this is how I met him a few times), but I always was taught by my family to respect our main rival because they are who made us great.
  21. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 10:05 AM) Alright, I hate the Twins. That said, I hope they win the f***ing World Series. I'm one of those idiots that always want the AL to win and I don't want the Yankees winning yet another. Another (rare) World Series win for the AL Central. Hate 'em all you want, they're good, way better than the White Sox...sad as that is. They've pretty much been way better than everyone the second half. Thats the reason why the Sox didnt run away with it at one point.
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 03:29 AM) I agree with you. I'd love for Iowa to route, but they are going west (never an easy task) and have the late start time. On top of that Arizona runs a spread offense and that quick release offense could help neutralize Iowa's outstanding pass-rush. Plus, Iowa's great D Coordinator, Norm Parker, will not be able to make the trip to Arizona. It is going to be a dog fight. As long as the D-Line holds their gaps and doesnt over penetrate they will be fine. Their front 7 should stop the running game as well as the short passing game which leads to AZ holding the ball longer and sacks.
  23. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 08:19 AM) I agree. But those stories I listed are things that another Big Ten coach has done in the past few years. So getting on Rodriguez specifically by some people is ridiculous. Who? I literally googled Big Ten scandal, private planes, buying cars and found nothing.
  24. I like how the perception now is that our team didnt want it or wasnt mentally tough. ON their climb back into this thing I dont think I've seen a more mentally tough team wearing the Sox uni in awhile. Yes they fell short, but it wasnt their mental state or their desire, it was the fact they sat on their asses in slumps for 2 months while every other team actually played baseball.
  25. I'm just happy that the coach gets in trouble there and not the student. Aaron Craft is probably going to start for my buckeyes.
