Chris Sale Appreciation Thread (FIRE KEITH LAW)

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 08:19 PM) How do you magically get a team to trade more or equal amount of talent for MB over Danks? So if Danks is more valuable overall, why are we trading him? Danks+ a player, perhaps Konerko's new paycheck is worth more than what we would get back in a trade. -

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 07:58 PM) I heard Danks may make as much as around $7-8M in ARB. I think he is the best option to trade, mainly because he will get more value than Buehrle, and Buehrle is such an icon for this team that it would piss a LOT of people off. So you keep him out of sentimental value? I trade Buehrle LONG before I trade Danks, simply because Danks is a much better value even at 7M than Buehrle is at 14M. He's my favorite Sox player and I would be sad to see him go, but understand. Do you think Buehrle is worth twice the money of John Danks? -

Did anyone post iowa center Josh Koeppel's crash video yet? http://gazetteonline.com/blogs/on-iowa/201...m-koeppel-crash As a scooter rider myself, this is my worst nightmare, cars turning left at lights seem to always ignore you. Its amazing it wasnt worse. -
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 01:47 PM) The new AppleTV was EXTREMELY underwhelming. However, while i didn't like the new nano at first, it grew on me. I kinda like it. They should get rid of it, its become basically netflix on apple.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 07:50 PM) Well obviously if we don't trade a starter, but I would not be opposed to it. We have one of the most expensive rotations in baseball with Peavy, Buehrle, Jackson, Danks, and Floyd. I wouldn't mind trading either Danks or Floyd to relieve some money and sliding Sale into the rotation, or Freddy on the cheap while Sale stretched out in AA. And thats not because of Danks and Floyd, keep that in mind. Its how top heavy the rotation is on price. Ideally, you deal Buehrle because you cant move Peavy. Floyd makes I believe 3.5, Danks should get 5+ and Jackson is at 8. -

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 07:04 PM) Rock, you're thinking too short term. I think they looked at more of a history of the programs. Yeah Michigan isn't very good right now, but they will likely be back over the long haul. And if they aren't, who the heck cares about the Michigan/OSU protection thing anyways. Clearly by people worrying about that matchup, people think Michigan will get back to where they were, and soon. Otherwise that game turns irrelevant. You have traditional powers on each side (OSU/PSU, Mich/Neb) You have two middle/good guys (Wisc/Pur, Iowa/MSU) You have two...s***ty programs (ILL/IU, NU/Min) I hope Michigan gets back up there though when DickRod is gone since he's such a douche. Its good for the conference if they do. I still think its heavily weighted towards one side. And I'm glad its not for bball as well since I guess that doesnt make sense, especially since the OSU side would be deadly. And i think you are underestimating the OSU/michigan game quite a bit. We ALL care about that game, especially it being the last game of the schedule. In all honesty, if OSU goes 1-12 and that 1 win is against UM, its a good year. -

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 07:42 PM) He is going to be expensive through arbitration, and we have potentially 7 starters next year (if you include Freddy). He'll be cheaper than Peavy, Ejax, and Buehrle. He's a top of the rotation guy and one of the best young lefties in the league. You keep him until starts demanding the Lester deal and either you give it to him if he is worth it or you trade him at the deadline. Freddy wont be back most likely and Sale is then your Hudson in waiting. -

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 03:42 PM) Yeah, I really think Kenny is going to be shopping Danks all off-season, and hopefully for a legit OF. Trading Danks would be dumb as f***, especially since we have control over him cheaply for another 2 years. I repeat, dumb as f***. -

With all due respect to Gordo: Chris Sale has the biggest f***ing balls of any Sox prospect I have seen in a long time. The dude is f***ing ice cold. -
QUOTE (T R U @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 03:04 PM) im proud of myself, I am usually the type of person who makes excuses to get out of doing stuff but im not doing it with this.. Sunday night the AC broke in our house, and I live in Texas so that made it about 93 degrees IN the house.. well monday morning I still did day 1 and sweated my ass off.. day 2 came, AC still broke and I was really trying to convince myself that I could skip it but I didn't, I went down and did the plyometrics and sweated my ass off again.. AC got fixed, but today I am sore as hell everywhere and again tried to convince myself I could skip but I still went and did day 3 again.. usually, I would have said ill skip today, which would turn into skip tomorrow and eventually stop doing it, but im not doing it and im glad about that.. Also, Monday night after day 1 we went out to eat.. I had salad and water which was about the hardest thing ive ever done.. I havent had anything but water and myoplex since I started and I plan to keep that up, which is tough considering how much soda I use to drink.. while I am sore as hell, I feel great about it and know I can keep up with this.. Keep hitting the protein and get some recovery drink or drink chocolate milk if you can, it will help tremendously with the soreness.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 03:01 PM) So from everything im reading tonight the Big 10 will announce divisions split as follows: - Michigan, Nebraska, Iowa, Michigan State, Northwestern and Minnesota. - Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Purdue, Indiana and Illinois. Or as I will refer to them: Man's League: Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Purdue, Indiana and Illinois. Juniors: -Michigan, Nebraska, Iowa, Michigan State, Northwestern and Minnesota. Not sure why this is a competitive split. Outside of Iowa, the Juniors have to rely on Michigan becoming relevant again and Nebraska being as good as Wisconsin/PSU on a consistent basis. If it was me, I would have figured out the top 6 programs, and then split them. OSU is clearly #1, after that its murky but I think the next 3 are PSU, Iowa and Wisconsin (in no order). You then put Michigan and Nebraska in opposite divisions and youve got a good mix. Oh well I guess the road to the Big 10 Championship goes through Columbus. Fortunately Wisconsin has done better against OSU than most teams, but I have a feeling that most PSU, OSU and Wisconsin fans are going to be displeased with the split. Where as I expect Iowa, Nebraska fans are counting down the days. Well its going to be the case of teams in one division beating up each other perhaps. It really makes zero sense to me the way they split it. You have 3 out of the 4 top programs on one side while the other IMO has only one real good program. Michigan is a ways off from being relevant again and the others are second tier teams. Is the split necessary in basketball? Because then its even more lopsided. -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 01:57 AM) Maybe not this year, but Jackson has succeeded before, in the American League, and in the AL Central in particular. Additionally, he has unanimously much better stuff than Hudson, as well as a much higher ceiling. The odds of Jackson doing what he is doing were probably far greater than Hudson doing what he has done, especially considering he had not done it before in his brief opportunities up until that point. But hey, you guys keep complaining about giving up a maybe top 75 prospect for a year and a half of what looks like potentially a top of the rotation starter. I guess we should only trade a guy like Hudson for Evan Longoria. Like I said before, it wasnt about who can pitch better at the time, it was that Jackson gave us a better chance to possibly save the bullpen and eat quality innings which was a must vs grooming a young guy throwing 4 innings. Huddy isnt going to be Halladay so who cares.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 02:59 PM) Substitute the wheat with something else like corn. A steak sits in your stomach for hours so I'm not sure how you would consider that easily digestible. Lean protein like chicken and fish are what I eat most. I have to stay away from Gluten for the most part as much as I can.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 03:13 PM) Any of the top 4 can win, it's gonna come down to who can win 1 or 2 of those huge road games. And really, even if you finish 4th in the Big Ten this year, that's not bad at all. I'd expect all four to make a 2 weekend trip in the dance. Exactly, like I said, the individual matchups will play a big role in the outcomes, its a total toss up. -

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 11:54 AM) I also understand that raising livestock is ridiculously unsustainable. Gallons of water needed to produce a pound of wheat: 25 Gallons of water needed to produce a pound of California beef: 5,000 Calories of fossil fuel expended to get 1 calorie of protein from beef: 78 To get 1 calorie of protein from soybeans: 2 I dont digest wheat nearly as well as animal protein.

I watched it last night, what a f***ing travesty. Dolphin meat is basically inedible and the inhumane killings they showed were unreal. Shows how a government can cover up and even push for terrible practices like Whaling across the globe.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 09:26 AM) Gottlieb picking Illinois to win the Big Ten. http://espn.go.com/ncb/notebook/_/page/not...d100830/big-ten Wow, I pretty much dont agree with his entire ranking. One thing is for sure, its gonna be a bloodbath, what a tough conference next season. I would probably go: 1. Purdue 2. Illinois 3. OSU 4. MSU 5. Minny 6. Wisco The rest of the crap below. Hard to tell really, though I think Purdue is clearly the top team returning pretty much everyone. There are teams that are good, but pose major matchup problems for other teams. OSU is very light on true guard play, but is strong at the wing and in the post. Illinois should have ridiculous guard play, and MSU, Minny and Purdue having good all around games somewhat. Its really anyone's guess. -
QUOTE (Allsox @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 03:43 PM) Agree 100%. 650 million and one can't navigate the west grandstand or end zone seating for crap or have more bathrooms/point-of-sale facilities at all. It's like they spent 649 million on the Cadillac side (Great views, excellent navigation pts, tons of bathrooms/concessions but at the price of your first-born) and left a million for the commoners' sections. I was in seats saturday where the aisle actually ended before my row and we had to jump over the row behind us to get to the seats. With that said, theres a great view from every seat in the stadium, much better than old Solider. The Cell is one of the better ballparks out there now, I've been to a majority of them including the new Twins stadium and the Cell really has some great feature that are ignored in today's new venues. I like how the concourse is set up, you can glance at the game while standing in line for food. And our food BTW is TOP NOTCH. The sections are arranged nicely, not too far a walk to get down to the bottom which is a prob with new stadiums, there is also a trend of having the OF wall extremely high before the seats start, I think thats dumb (Cle, Minny). Its not the best park, but its not the s*** show it was when it opened.

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 11:38 AM) You are just setting up excuses for a Week 2 loss. Gonna need several excuses for several losses. -
QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 08:17 PM) I just can't bring myself to care about that. So many players were cheating at one time or another that it's a moot point. I mean, I could see if Manny was roiding up NOW but there's no evidence available to us that he is, so really whatever. I don't know why so many Sox fans on Facebook are losing their s*** over this... I mean f*** having a guy with a career average well over .300, gets on base 40% of the time, has 550-something career homers, and still plays at a high level. I could see criticizing him because he's an injury risk, but clubhouse cancer? Steroids? Come on now. He'd be on the team for all of a month if he doesn't get an extension and even that would be pretty short. I dont even care if he uses the clubhouse. Go DH, hit some bombs, drive in some runs, done.
