Thanks SI for a retread story about Oregon. Pretty sure they just took the same article from before the Rose Bowl and changed some of the names. -
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 6, 2010 -> 11:27 AM) I could never be a sales person. It's just not in my personality. What if you were a technical resource for a sales team that worked with customers to do installs or configuration? Meaning you were only brought in to work with a customer to either prove something works the way it should or to actually implement something they purchased? The reason I ask is because alot of my technical folks in that role work the job for a few years to gain experience while getting free certs and then take that experience and go and run IT depts or a director role.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 6, 2010 -> 11:29 AM) Trading players for draft picks? Do you really think that's a good team-building strategy? That's what a team like the Bills should be doing...they've been a disaster for a decade. I think the Bears needs to develop players at key positions and Angelo isnt the guy to do it. The Bears as they stand right now cannot win the Super Bowl. They have above avg and top notch players at a few positions with a great fall off in depth. I think there are some players you can unload when this season falls apart in about 4 games that can possibly net some real talent for the O-line and possibly the defense. We need to start building an offensive line from the draft, its clear the piece by piece strategy does not work.
-
It sucks the Bears have some really good players at a few positions because this team really needs to cut ties with Angelo and start trading for draft picks.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 6, 2010 -> 10:06 AM) oh cool. what are you looking at doing? Cant reveal that on a public forum quite yet since I dont have my space leased yet and its in the beginning stages. But I will say I am only looking to open this business because I think it benefits the residents of my neighborhood and I want to continue to be a part of the development of the west side.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 6, 2010 -> 10:13 AM) you'd be surprised how many jobs i"ve seen were A+ is a required cert. With that being said, I'm planning on doing a series of certs. Any advice as to a course of action would be appreciated. I am pretty much "self taught" when it comes to computers. So, I dont have any real degree or certs to prove to a company what I know. I'm above average in my general computing and networking knowledge and I have very rudimentary experience in Windows Server. After years of debating what career path I want to take (I majored in radio broadcasting, and currently work as a technology coordinator at a church), i think I'm going to go the IT route. I just enjoy it more. Would you consider a sales-type role in the field? Sometimes people get their start there and then the company pays for you to get certs. You also get nice comp while doing it.

Actually looking to open my own small business in Chicago on the side in the next few months.

Wow, I didnt see that AJP is a type A free agent this year. I would like to offer he and Konerko arbitration and either bring them back (not likely) or get some nice draft picks. I wonder what AJ would make in arb after this s***ty year.

Trading from an area of strength like starting pitching is going to open up a weakness. If we trade one of our starters, who fills in?

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Oct 5, 2010 -> 07:02 PM) They're not going to run anyone off the field because the best they can do is slow them down on defense. The beauty of this offense is if they make the right reads it is nearly impossible to stop. There is always somewhere to go with the ball. That's why they get so many long plays on short passes because teams have to cheat to stop the run. When Robinson runs on his own, its either in a read option where he reads the defensive end or tackle when they throw a wrinkle into it or when he uses the RB as an extra blocker giving them a numbers advantage. As soon as the secondary cheats to offset that advantage they throw of the top or a quick screen where he only has to beat one guy. The only way I see them getting stopped for a whole game is either Robinson makes bad reads because the defense throws something at him that confuses him or they can stop the run without having to cheat guys into the box. Their DB's better be able to tackle in space too. I just don't see too many defensive lines that can dominate our O-Line to that extent. Keep in mind every run that only gains 2-3 yards is potentially setting something else up. I've gone back and rewatched games and its fun to watch. It's truly a numbers game with the defense and if the reads are right, any given play can go the distance. I don't expect them to dominate the better teams and you are right, they are ahead on the schedule. But they'll score. To be safe, I'd plan on scoring at least 30 to beat them. 40 wouldn't hurt. At some point, special teams will bite them in the ass and they will lose a 37-34 type game. Maybe a few. But I don't see this team folding like a house of cards as last year's team did. If you stop Robinson from running though, thats over 50 percent of the offense. They still have yet to play a team with a good defensive line and speed at the second level. I think we'll be able to gauge it better when they play Iowa. The read option is offset by defensive speed and good tacking and teams like Iowa and OSU have both. If I was a DC of a good team, I would make him throw all day long, because it will create turnovers and keeping their offense off the field isnt that much of a challenge since you can run against them. It will be interesting to see if Wisco tries to do just that with their running game. I do think Iowa is the true test, by the time UM faces OSU, injuries may deplete the entire secondary. -
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Oct 4, 2010 -> 12:24 AM) Uhh, ya man, I don't think those are connected at all. Maybe.

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Oct 4, 2010 -> 11:16 PM) Will anyone hold Michigan to less than 30 points this year? Will Michigan hold anyone else on their schedule to less than 30? This team is not for the faint of heart. Defenses they've faced: Total Defense Rankings UCONN-51st Notre Dame-89th UMASS-FCS Bowling Green-119th Indiana-88th They will play: MSU-41st Iowa-4th PSU-18th Illinois-37th Purdue-58th Wisconsin-25th OSU-5th Not to mention some of the strengths of those defenses is stopping the run, which is basically the Michigan attack since they rank 3rd: Iowa-2nd-63.2 yards per game OSU-8th-80.6 ypg MSU-20th-101.2 ypg Wisconsin-26th-110.6 ypg PSU-31st-118.2 ypg I would say there is a good chance one or more teams hold them under 30 points. Outside of Purdue, they haven't faced defensive teams as strong as the rest of their schedule. Then again, maybe they play up to competition and run those teams off the field. -
Of course they could have run the ball instead of continuing to throw it over and over when he was getting sacked.
-
That was basically 3 hours of wasted time.

I think Jordan Shipley just died. Helmet to helmet.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Oct 2, 2010 -> 07:10 PM) I'll refrain from arguing with you because you won't listen, but I find it funny how you refer to it as throwing rather than passing. Arguing with me about what exactly? Denard Robinson is far and away the best running QB in the country. He is basically Pat White all over again. Pryor didnt want to be Pat White, he wanted to be Troy Smith. Smith would probably be starting in the NFL with the extra 7 inches of height, and thats what sold Pryor on OSU. He wanted to be more of a pocket passer instead of essentially what he was in high school. If the kid ran twice as much as he passed, he would probably be racking up yards left and right. Thats just how it is. There are many OSU fans that wished it was the case. And as much as I respect Robinson's running ability as he may go down as the best running QB who has ever played, and I think his work ethic will make him a good passer, I still think the most talented QB on UM's roster is Gardner. That kid has a boatload of skills. -

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Oct 2, 2010 -> 03:56 PM) Michigan can seemingly be solid vs the run and pressure the QB but god that secondary is invisible.... But Denard Robinson seemingly is everything Terrell Pryor should be Michigan doesnt play any defense, they arent really solid against anything. They are ranked 93rd nationally in total defense. If Pryor "should" be a run-first QB in an option system then he would be racking up running yards left and right. He chose to play in a pro-style offense where he would be more of a pocket passer. There's a reason he has half the number of carries Robinson has and more throwing attempts, yards and throwing TD's. -

I fully expect Denard to take it to the house every time he runs the ball. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 2, 2010 -> 12:26 PM) Probably too early to say but are any of those guys likely to be impact guys like Clarett or Wells? Because while Saine and Herron aren't bad players they seem to be the only thing holding back OSU from being absolutely unstoppable this year. Jaamal Berry should be at least #2 on the depth chart right now. He was leading the team in rushing before the game today. Saine really should be a 3rd WR since Duron Carter is out. -

Exactly the game I expected, Illinois/OSU is always a game like that. And f***ing Tressel drives me nuts, he packs it in and runs the ball with his two best RB's on the bench. -

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Oct 1, 2010 -> 05:48 PM) I wouldn't count on it. Flowers batted around .220 with a ton of Ks in AAA playing in a bandbox. If you took enough time to think of his home ballpark then you would take enough time to look at his splits. He wasnt nearly as bad as his numbers. -
