  1. Good question, how is Miami going to defend a good PG like Rondo and Rose. The Bulls with Boozer may be a problem team for Miami to guard in the post and at the perimeter. It will be interesting to see how Miami's team defense evolves. As of right now they are having a hard time defending Rondo and Allen at the same time.
  2. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 26, 2010 -> 07:16 PM) That's better than the vast majority of major programs in the country. I'm not saying Boise is some traditional powerhouse, but they're a good program (better than most) and they deserve, at some point, a shot at the big boys. It should have happened last year, but maybe it will this year. Well, they can have their chance if they run the table and teams in better conferences with tougher schedules lose enough games to put BSU in the top 2. And better than the vast majority? Eh. I am not sure they are better year in and year out than the VAST majority of major BCS schools. They have a very good record in their conference year in and year out thats for sure. But there are teams like Marshall that dominated a mid major conference for years (5 titles in 8 years) (10-3, 12-1, 13-0, 11-2) and moved to a larger conference and couldnt compete on the same level. Boise has had similar records and caliber of players (2 first round draft picks, 2 pro bowl players) as a team like Marshall, but has largely lived feasting on the same weak competition year after year. Trying to say that they are better than a "vast" majority of major programs is a bit outlandish and frankly impossibly to deduce just from their record. If you compare the caliber of players that Boise has in the NFL compared to other schools that you may consider not as good as Boise base on record, you may be surprised. For example, Baylor has more NFL players than Boise. My point is, you cant really use their record as a way to judge how they stack up against schools that routinely face better competition every week. They just dont have to face tests nearly as often as major conference schools and I think their record reflects that greatly. I would have really preferred that they moved into a better conference than the MWC like they are in 2011, but at least that will give them a little more legitimacy throughout the season.
  3. outside of a blatant lebron goaltend, Miami has no answer for Rondo.
  4. QUOTE (danman31 @ Oct 25, 2010 -> 08:22 PM) The only thing I would disagree with from all of that is that Boise beat TCU last year so that should play in as a tiebreaker between the two this year. I only say this because neither team is especially proven and it's hard to see a major difference in either so far this season. At least with Oregon, you can see they are a different team than last year so the Boise game shouldn't play as big of a role. I understand this is a double standard to some extent, but for the most part I think it's the only way to separate Boise and TCU because the resumes are so similar. I dont think Oregon is that different of a team this year. They did the same thing last year until they faced an actual defense. Oregon is going to continue to feast on terrible defensive teams in the Pac Ten until USC returns back to the top. Either way, Boise is going to have to win out and hope a major BCS conf team loses a game or two to make it to the title game. And honestly, I dont see it working out for them.
  5. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 25, 2010 -> 08:28 PM) TCU is going to have to win at Utah a top 10 team (atm). Boise will have to win at Nevada barely top 25. If TCU and Boise go undefeated, you have to give the nod to TCU. Utah is the biggest paper tiger in the top 10. They literally havent played anyone. vs (4-3) Pittsburgh W 27-24 vs (1-6) UNLV W 38-10 at (0-7) New Mexico W 56-14 vs (1-7) San Jose St W 56-3 at (4-4) Iowa State W 68-27 at (2-6) Wyoming W 30-6 vs (2-6) Colorado St W 59-6 Combined Opponent W-L for Utah = 14-39
  6. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 24, 2010 -> 09:51 PM) Auburn will lose at some point, so I wouldn't worry about that. And you're never going to win the Boise argument around here. For as much as people make some of us out to be mid major homers, there's a bunch of people around here that will never, ever give Boise any credit just because they're Boise. Yes, a blanket statement that really has no validity. When Boise beats some legitimate team, they will get credit. its as easy as that. Until then, every other undefeated team in the country coming out of major conferences has to lose.
  7. QUOTE (kev211 @ Oct 24, 2010 -> 08:38 PM) LSU has yet to pass my eye test, they're not that good(something a f***ing computer can't see). They beat VT who is ranked just as high as SC, and Arkansas has yet to beat anyone this year which according to people like you is all that matters. It's Boise's turn, and this whole they have not played anyone is a joke because they keep winning and everyone else keeps losing. HA! Who has Boise played that passes your "eye test"? Auburn is so much more deserving its not even funny.
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 22, 2010 -> 12:09 AM) UCLA is absolutely terrible though. I still have no idea how they beat Texas and the fact that Texas than beat Nebraska stunned me, because any team which loses to UCLA has some sort of problems (especially when you lose to a team who threw the ball like 6 times total). There is simply zero defense played in the Pac Ten. Oregon's offense looks great against those teams.
  9. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 21, 2010 -> 07:35 AM) Yup, I was dead wrong on that one. After his 2009, I was concerned that Alexei wasn't making progress defensively. But he was far better in 2010, for whatever combination of reasons. Omar has to have alot to do with it. You could see Alexei specifically emulating him at time in his positioning and quick release.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 21, 2010 -> 07:51 AM) I'd be totally amazed if he wasn't regularly getting hate mails & such before his move. I figure every athlete does. Pretty much every public figure has someone who hates them.
  11. Pretty sure this is premium material and I cannot post it, but here is Club Trillion's Big East Preview http://insider.espn.go.com/ncb/preview2010...tory?id=5704358
  12. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 06:38 PM) No idea on him. Turner has a rep though in Chicago since high school. Well some of that is going to St Joes. He and Rose dont like each other because they were rivals. Outside of the Chicago bball scene he is extremely well regarded as a gracious and respectable young man. The story of him honoring John Moll and keeping close to his family shows what kind of kid he is. He was the same to Talor Battle when his mother became ill. There is much more to a player than the city perception of a guy who was the rival of a kid who was basically the sweetheart of Chicago and still is.
  13. He wont get the GG, but we all know he deserves it.
  14. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 06:32 PM) Agreed 100%, but he is still a huge douche. Always has been. It's sad when Derrick Rose doesn't like you, and he is known as one of the easiest guys to get along with. Does that make McCamey a huge douche as well?
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 06:18 PM) Isn't that the ultimate copout? If a trade ends badly it's ok because it looked good at the time? Define "ends badly". Trading bloated salaries for prospects and then reinvesting the money in the team is usually going to be very good short term. Of course alot of that will be forgotten if the team doesnt win the World Series immediately and if the prospects dont pan out to be the All Stars that everyone expects them to be.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 05:26 PM) Balta, with your theory about freeing up money, how do you feel about the Sox basically unloading Buehrle and his huge contract for minimal parts this offseason? What do they do with the freed up salary? And what do you call "minimal parts?" If you mean possibly an MLB caliber minor leaguer ranked in the top 100 prospects list plus some other decent pieces, then yes, I would be in favor of it if they used his deferred salary wisely. If they needed his money to bring back Konerko and in the process pulled in some other potential impact players that require some seasoning, then it may actually be a good move. Of course based on the posts above, we couldnt even begin to evaluate the deal until 4-5 years down the line when hindsight can actually be used to grade the deal.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 04:10 PM) I'll be honest, to me, this seems like a very homeristic view of things to excuse KW for a bad trade. This could be what J4Life was talking about, but I don't want to speak for him. I'm sure KW had higher expectations for the trade than simply freeing up Javy's salary. His expectations were most likely getting a starting catching prospect, some players with MLB potential and more money to add other impact pieces. At the time it was a very good move, and it could still very well end up being a decent move if Flowers ever becomes a everyday player. You cant evaluate trades in a vacuum in hindsight because not only do players change, but market conditions change as well.
  18. QUOTE (kev211 @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 02:29 PM) http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/truehoop/mia...tory?id=5707475 Every time this man talks I dislike him more and more. He should of known this hate would have come with a move to Miami, and if he didn't maybe he should have gotten a PR guy that did. Look at any youtube post, internet message board or newspaper article comment section and you find stuff like that. If he really thinks we should show sympathy towards him because of anonymous internet comments to his Twitter site he literally need a brain transplant. The one thing I gather from this entire situation is that LeBron is pretty much a complete moron.
  19. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 01:10 PM) Well coaches usually dont bad mouth their their players, especially with top draft picks. Yeah but he's has history of being an extremely hard worker. The guy couldnt handle the ball to save his life coming out of HS and worked his way to being a pretty dominant PG at the college level albeit out of position for him. I still dont think he's a 2 in the NBA, I think hes a solid 3 with the ability to handle the rock.
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 11:55 AM) I agree about Nancy. I find her revolting now. And why did she go through all that trouble running away with her baby when it seems like she could give two s***s about him? She should have jut left him with Esteban. Yeah, it makes no sense. Then all of a sudden Zack Morris shows up to spank and bang her? WTF
  21. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 11:43 AM) Listening to the new Simmons podcast and he mentioned stories out of Philly about Evan Turner not fitting in and being a headcase already. Talking bust already. Turner may not produce right away but I think eventually he will adapt, like college and be good. I saw his attitude in high school and thought he grew out of it last year but maybe not. I read an article that mentioned the opposite from the coaching staff, so I think he is really just relaying the fans perspective after summer league. The coaching staff has said how hard working he is compared to their other players. The guy may not be a supreme athlete, but he's a workhouse that will make the most of his talent. http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/sport...ar.html?sid=101
  22. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 09:38 AM) I can't believe I still watch Weeds. That show is just awful right now. I do too, and it sucks big time.
  23. The Question is: Would some of the Anti-Ozzie people on this site be willing to take on Ryno as the next Sox skipper?
  24. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 20, 2010 -> 08:31 AM) It tells me that Yankees fans are spoiled brats. Seriously, unless you are ill or have an emergency or something... who walks out of a playoff game? They were only down 4 at the time when I saw the stadium totally empty. i will give credit to the Twins fans that stayed in the place when down in the 9th. Yanks fans should be ashamed.
  25. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 19, 2010 -> 02:29 PM) And that's not even true. I'm not even in the top 10 around here when it comes to negativity. But I can't stand homerism and the residue from 2005 has all but vanished. I don't like the current position or direction my favorite team is in. You've definitely made some people press the ignore button on you lately, maybe you just don't see it because you are blind with anger.
