QUOTE (RME JICO @ May 29, 2008 -> 03:39 PM) It is utterly amazing how many White Sox pitchers end up flaming out, have surgery, or get hurt after leaving the organization. It is like a kiss of death. What can this be attributed to? Conditioning? Workload? its smart upper management...reluctance to give long term deals to pitcher because they know they have a tendancy to break down

cubs now get 7 in a row against teams a combined 26 under .500 then we will find out how good they are when they go to LA, then play atlanta (who i think is the best NL team), then face the blue jays pitching, play in tampa, then the sox, orioles, and sox again sadly that is the most difficult stretch of their schedule...

QUOTE (Brian @ May 28, 2008 -> 11:04 PM) When do we play the Dodgers? We could probably shut them out the whole series. Down the middle, not much on it, swing and a miss. nl is such a joke and yet almost everyday i read an article saying how the NL has closed the gap.... cubs win it off of another pitcher run out of the AL

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 28, 2008 -> 08:13 PM) I haven't checked after the game today, but coming in to today, Cleveland's had the 2nd worst bullpen ERA in MLB. im really puzzled as to why they sent jensen lewis down in favor of scott elarton...he had a rough outing or two but still had a 3.55 ERA, makes me wonder if he pissed someone off ala sean tracey

QUOTE (fathom @ May 28, 2008 -> 10:49 PM) Shades of last season, where the opposition can't play defense to save their lives. ill never forget teh kaz matsui play at 2b against colorado ....and matsui was excellent on D last year

QUOTE (lostfan @ May 28, 2008 -> 06:04 PM) All I ever wanted for Alexei was a chance to get consistent ABs... he was rotting away on the bench. It's just like I felt for Anderson last year. Either play him more or send him down, but keeping him on the bench, you're doing him no favors. it may have helped him though...he has gotten a chance to see big league pitching, to learn how pitchers like to operate...i mean this guy in all probability hadnt seen more than 9 innings of american baseball til he came here...i think hes been able to learn while being on the bench, though i understand it would have been nice to get him consistent ABs in the minors if it wasnt here...either way i think he should be better than uribe from here going forward... the thing ive been most impressed with has been hes defense....hes really smooth out there and hes got a nice arm....the few double plays ive seen him turn have been the quickest ive seen for a 2b in a while

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 28, 2008 -> 12:16 PM) My god this is getting worse. Going to be at least 3-0 with two infield hits and an error at least. like i said that BABIP was bound to increase based purely on luck -

why do we hear whispers this year that dye was probably playing hurt all of last year, and we never really heard a thing about it, yet konerko hurts his hand and its all over the media?
-
there was a cornhole thread around here a year or two ago...and ill say now what i said then.....completely and utterly overrated i cant stand the tooldouches who take it as seriosuly as the other tooldouches who take beer pong so seriously.... while my family owns a set and i think it can be fun at times, i just dont quite get the love from so many people at a tailgate...if theres room i prefer a good ole fashion pigskin

QUOTE (feistyboy @ May 27, 2008 -> 08:12 PM) Wow Wasserman gets a strikeout. He actually does something good for once. i feel sort of bad for him...his ERA is higher than it should be because of some horrendously bad defense that didnt get called errors
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 27, 2008 -> 08:11 PM) Go Dodgers...get a double play. broxton is f***ing enormous
