  1. You might not have a winter alright. But we sure as hell have summer-- to the tune of 100 degrees and humidity. I Chicago I bet y'all can teill.
  2. Nashville and Ran was f***ing brilliant.
  3. How do you figure? The guy is GG caliber LF'er. Good speed for a #5 hitter A clutch run-producer. Hit very well in the playoffs, which many players including Tejada, Chavez, Nomar did not. Has only began adjusting to two-seamers. If anything, HE will fare better having seen enough MLB pitchers not the other way around. At 4-5 Mill or whatever it is he is making he is definately a solid bargain....when you consider how much extra attention he brings to his team AND the kind of Asian following he has.
  4. Solaris and Ivan's Childhood are better. Mirror, too. The lead actor died, along with the crew, in the HUGE avelanche 2 years ago. Having said that, this movie is utter garbage. What's a bath? Andrei Mironov was a brilliant comic actor. Died of aneurysm ON STAGE at 45. While Sharon MENSA Stone lives on. There is no God.
  5. For every movie I listed, I got 3 that I wanted to use badly. That's how. Top 5? That is f***ing cruel. And stupid.
  6. Even in Konerko's best year, he was never worth nearly 9 Mill a year. Last year he was so awful, he should have paid the SOX money. . We've been over this. Dodgers DO have an upper hand here. Their payroll is projected to be upward of 120 Mill. They are NOT desperate to pay 14 Mill for Magglio and they sure as hell are not wild about paying Mr. Hip 17 over 2. Please understand this SIMPLEST of concepts and move on. Worst comes the worst, Dodgers will pay 1 Milll to Randel Simon and he will do nothing but hit with RO/RISP (as he's done in the last 3 years, including pennant race and playoffs) for them. No hip problem. No mental issues. Not as big a base-clogger, either.....And they keep Odalis Perez. . Considering that, unlike the Sox, they actually have MONEY and TWO stud prospects in Miller and Jackson to dangle in front of teams....they can go ahead and pull an Oriole and improve their line-up in a SECOND. . Desperations, like analogies, aren't born equal. Dodgers are mildly desperate to get rid of Perez while we are SUPER desperate (care to take a poll?) to get rid of Kong. Hence the word "risk". Perez was mediocre last year, but I like his poise and I love his stuff. I already admitted he may post a 5.00 ERA, but he may also post 3.00 one. And whatever benefits he drew from pitching at Ravine will be more than erased by the fact that he will be going up against Tiger-Twin-Indian-Royal "powerhouse" line-ups. . Now you're talking crazy. , Forget about splits. He WILL be better than Show. I guarantee you than. Apples and oranges. Pacheco I always liked, but to the rest of the world he's a 25yo AA'er pitching in a pitcher's park. Even pitcher-challenged Rockies didn't care about him. While Wrong is coming off an injury-plagued season and his 6.00+ ERA in limited innings isn't gonna blow anyone away. Be thankful that we will get to keep Reed-Cotts-Honel-Sweeney. As far as that "rumor" that Dodgers were willing to swap PK and OP straight up......I am sure if you take a stroll through Dodgers' message board, they will give you links to and excerpts from "articles" and "rumors" that had White Sox more than willing to give them Maggs and cash for Perez and Gutierez.
  7. 10 american flix that I like a lot: -Godfather Twology -Apocalypse Now -Dr. Strangelove -Chinatown -Clockwork Orange -Fargo -Pulp Fiction -Annie Hall -Glengary Glen Ross -Dogday Afternoon -Lawrence of Arabia man, this is ONE evil thread.
  8. Yeah, it's up there- 290-295 is about right. I figure you probably weigh about 125lb. You'll be benching 250 before you know, WITE. No worries.

    Kobe news...

Page me when Kobe's behind bars. Until then...zzzzz.....
  10. Oh how lovely! That means Corg may return one day. Moi amore!
  11. He is posting on this site. So do clu and Bald B. You just don't know it yet.
  12. Me and bigred had a good thread about Simon about a month and a half ago. Look it up.
  13. Frank's injury pretty much wiped out not only 2001 but also 2002. Which adversely affected 2003. Which will adversely affect 2004. Think about that next time you hear people chirping about how every player needs to field/bunt/steal/etc. Hawk is right: don't ask player to do what they CAN'T do. Jerry Manuel did. And we are still paying for it 3 years later.
  14. What a strange question, PA. But no, thankfully I am not. As per Bill Hicks, Texas weather is for lizards. I prefer having ALL FOUR SEASONS -- each beautiful and unique. YMMV.
  15. No Rauch. Until I see that he doesn't have the old 92-95mph fastball, sharp curve and solid slider for myself.....no way.
  16. I forgot to mention that I would give Konerko away for FREE. Then I'd spend that 17 Mill on Maddux and be ecstatic. But that's just me.
  17. ....and potential customers grow up to be Cubs fans or just follow other sports. Bring on Shoenweiss, Uribe and Shingo!
  18. I wish I could, but wasn't he banned from this site?
  19. Jebus.....it's only been snowing for 2 months now. Sack up. Winter is awesome.
  20. All what for Perez? Pacheco is an old NOBODY as far as Dodgers are conerned and Wright is 26 and absolutely STUNK last year, no velocity, s***ty curveball, deer-in-the-headlights look....probably injury related but who is to say he ever recovers. Dodgers aren't prescient. Meanwhile, Perez as Baggs mentioned had excellent peripherals even when he stunk last year, leading me to believe his ERA was a bit flukey. His tools are beyond doubt. He is a risk, and I will never trade Frank for him.....but by no means is he a bum. Just be f***in' happy Dodgers don't ask for Reed and Cotts. I mean....here we are DEMANDING they give up both Jackson AND Miller AND Mota in every other trade proposal, but godforbid should anyone mention a couple of NOBODIES (as far as they rest of baseball is concerned) like Wright and Pacheco and Sox fans cry foul. . Let's get something straight here: --Paul Konerko was arguably THE worst everyday player in MLB last year. --He is owed 17 Mill over the next 2 years. --The Hip We need pitching. Counting on Shownweiss to be your 4th starter is a recipe for disaster. Worst case scenario: Gload can put up 750 OPS, with good D and solid speed for 300K....Randall Simon will be dirt cheap as well.
  21. 1100 OPS and 140 RBI from Maggs is fine by me. It's time Mr. Nameless Superstar put up or shut up anywayz. All that "Maggs is better than Sosa" spouted by every Sox fan under the sun in the last 4 years alway made me laugh and laugh. So when he does win the MVP and brings the Sox to ALCS this year, then he may command 14-15 Mill per. And I'll be happy for him.
  22. herniated disc is probably more offical a term.
  23. That's one of my points too: Don't hire a life-less rookie manager for a 6-year tenure. Don't go after Ritchie because he will cost 2 Mill less. Don't get rid of Foulke because he makes 2 Mill too much. Don't go after Rick White if Urbina costs only a few mill more. Don't get rid of Thomas to save 1 Mill. Why? Because you end up saving only 3-4 Mill per season. But that season is f***ED in no small part thanks to the "bargain replacements" and you as an owner end up losing MUCH more in revenue and fans' good will.....the damage that only gets compounded year after year after year.
  24. What's worse, a herniated diss or a bulged one?
