The Dodgers aren't that stupid. The only way they'd even THINK about acquiring Konerko for Perez is if they get Maddux. Without a couple of prospects thrown in, Sox won't dumb Konerko.

It will be one long, cold-ass day when I "browse" MLB site OR its troll boards. Corg's posts made this site better. I miss Corg.

As long as you're not "Chomskian" politically.... As far as language....in my late teens I busted my ass to learn a new language and I still don't know it. My two nephews came here as pre-teens, got immersed in the public school system and a few MONTHS (not years!) later they were absolutely FLUENT, idioms, synthax, pronounciation, everything. Moral of the story: you're right.

What happned to him? Killa is accounted for and KochThis, well...But ws247...I know he is in HS.

I miss Corg.

The weirdest part about Agassi is the fact that he bench-presses almost TWICE his weight. (he weighs 160 pounds) And tennis players aren't known for big muscles.

I have LITTLE doubt that Mr. Maddux is in a Cub uni this year. And I tihnk you meant Karros because Alou is their everyday LF in 2004.

I vehemently disagree with the above, Critic. Not many things are sweeter than finding out that Sox won and Cubs lost. Your knee-jerk response would be, "You're jealous and petty". Trust me, I am neither. I love despising the Cubs and seeing their fans miserable. I also know that with the continual Cubs failure, more and more casual baseball fans should find their way to the USCF or at least to their televisions....provided of course we win a few divisions in a row and generate some buzz. Which of course we haven't been able to get done in the last 3 years. And now Cubs are really good and we're in a real danger of losing the city forever (or for a long time anyway) should they make it to the Series. :fyou KW.

How times were you on Jeopardy?

Have we given thought to changing the NAME/IMAGE of this site?

See, now that's where I agree. By trading Paulie for OP, we effectively save 12 Mill over 2 years-- history has shown that just a coupla extra Mill spent can go a long way toward putting a team over the top in an extremely close 3-way race. Let alone 6 per. We also wash our hands of an overrated fielder, a base-clogging GIDP machine, a mental case AND we don't have to worry about Hipgate anymore. Even given Paulie's upside (900 OPS/115 RBI), because of the above baggage, paying him 8.5 Mill per, 1/8th of the entire budget, is not wise. Knowing that getting Maddux was a pipe dream (not that I advocate paying 18 over 2 years or whatever Bore-Us is bluffing for these days for a 38-year-old), we should pray that Dodgers steal him from the Cubs because not only would it steer the latter away from the SURE 1st place and a possible World Series appearance, but it would ALSO lower Perez's importance to Dodgers' rotation. Konerko + Pacheco + Wright for Perez has a nice ring to it. If Alvarez falters, Pacheco steps in as a 5th starter and bridges to Greg Miller who will be ready by 2006. Otherwise, he could be a BP man and maximize his velocity and break, making him even more effective-- see Burhle and Barcelo in 2000. Danny Wright also has a bright BP future, cheap too.

If LA signs Maddux will Evans rekindle...

I do not know. It may or it may re-align differently. ALC will not be intact in its present shape for much longer. Point is, Cubs are our biggest rival and it's time people (and Sox ownership) realized that. -
Not interested. GED has little to do with employability in me field. Sense Memory and Type on the other hand....

I would argue that they compete against the Cubs MORE than anyone. Indians and Taigas may not be in our division in 3 years. Twins may be contracted. Cubs will be stealing our fans and revenue and screw up our chances of winning for the next century. -
Yep, that's hou me mome tould it' to mee when I woas a wee lade.

Biowolf was an awesome co-lead character from the original Rocky Horror Picture Show script. Or should have been, anyway.

You forgot about Roberts and Gagne.

But, see, that's where the fallacy lies: when they DON'T love him, it DOESN'T mean they hate him or that he is a cancer. Frank can be outspoken and articulate and generous one minture....and cold, distant, self-involved the next. Aren't we all like that? But he DOESN'T f*** people's EX's. He DOESN'T talk smack about other players He DOESN'T split the clubhouse into allegiances. He DOESN'T campaign against his manager, even when provoked. He might not be a leader (not his nature), but he is most definately NOT a CANCER. Meanwhile Nobody Perez may not beat out Garland for the job. Nuff said.

Big congrads, I expected nothing less of you, Soxy. It sounds weird that you'll be working on a Ph.D and you're MY age....and I don't even have a HS diploma!
-
Except Frank is NOT a clubhouse cancer and if you were to take a poll among the Sox players, you'd find out as much. They might want him to take more of a leadership role, but that's totally different. As far as the publicity he generates....hey, as long as they spell the S-O-X right, you know? We lose a HOF'er, god knows how many fans and replace it with an overpaid nobody #4 starterl? The f***?
