I liked that post because it expresses EXACTLY what I thought when I heard Ozzie's Wriggley comment. Almost threw up....and I hate the Cubs! Sox fans (not nearly as knowledgable or classy as they think they are) + Sox organization (where do I start?) + loudmouth Ozzie = match made in heavens. PS: Pastime, excellent sig pic AND the Ozzie comment is PRECIOUS.....right up there with Aunuld's "gay marriage is between man and a woman"......

No, he is most definately a good QB. Solid arm, excellent reads. But there is a WORLD of a difference between being good and being GREAT. And Brady is not even close to great.... couple of 3-point Superbowl wins or not.
-
Time management might not mean much when one team is clearly better than the other one....but when two equals meet, time management is EVERYTHING. And it goes beyond mere Monday morning armchair QB rhetoric....I am talking about HIGHLY paid professionals missing the SIMPLEST of concepts that would be true for any style, in any era.

In the thread titled Classless Organization: Aside from disrespecting Hawk, everything else is RIGHT ON the money. Good job, King. Between Ozzie, Kenny and Reiny....that's a WHOLALOT of claslessness.

I was completely serious: the award was called Best Sox Analyst. Sloppy.

That's a healthy attitude there, BeGood. Oprah would pat you on the back, commending you on being in touch with your feelings.

I looked at the poll results and it's fairly lopsided. My surprise was short-lived however as I realized I myself voted for #2. Do we have Black posters on this site?

Didn't Harry Carey make some hilarious remarks about Messicans during the broadcast as well?

Yeah ok.... Brady is Derek Jeter to Manning's Nomar Garciappara. The former has got the hardware, but the latter is and will be better. The only difference is that Garciappara might never win anything, while Manning will have a couple of SuperBowls by the time he is done thanks to the wonderful world of NFL Parity. Dan Marino was TWICE the QB Brady is, so please spare me the "Greatness is measured in SuperBowls" malarkey......Perhaps in your world it is, but in my world we realize that football, unlike say tennis, is a TEAM game, and that Brady "winning" two SBs by a total of 4 points while playing on a team with awesome defense and offensive line is NOT an automatic testament of his greatness......Brady is a good QB, on his very best day he might actually be a a Pro Bowler, but it will take 10 more years of EXCELLENT numbers before anyone could mention him anywhere NEAR Elway, Favre, Young, Montana, Unitas or Marino......Hey, where was Brady's super-dooper Greatness when Patriots didn't even MAKE it to the playoffs in 2002? I thought so. What helped speed the process is Panthers' poor time-managing strategy and their field position-screwing penalties. What helped speed the process was Rickey Manning Jr and the strong side safety slipping down every time Brady lobbed an unspectacular pass in a key situation. Finally, what helped speed up the process was that moron kicker kicking it out of bounds and putting Brady just 25 yards from a GW FG range-- considering the game was won with only 5 seconds to go, if the kicker just does his job, Pats lose. All this Very Brady Greatness! garbage makes me want to root against NE and for Indy and I SO don't want to do that.

That's the by-product of Age of self-actualization and empowerment for you-- excessive self-entitlement and ego. Would you rather have people behave like nice little clogs in the machine and be content with an unacceptably low wage and a nice bouquet of -ISM's.......as they pretty much have been throughout the milenii? Cuz you can't have it both ways.
-
But you KNOW it's not how it works for MANY people-- they don't or are afraid to do ANYTHING worthwhile until their favorite movie star or a TV personality explains its benefits to them and empowers them. Such is reality. Plus, I think Oprah is a huge role model for many disenfranchised Blacks to aspire to be: she is NOT a rapper or a basketball player, and she has gotten this far not by the grace of incredible talent, beauty or intellect, not by blowing the right exec.....but by hard-work, common sense and a people-friendly, charitable personality. People consider Bill Cosby to be something of a Martin Luther Kingian figure in a sense of how he affected the way Blacks not only view themselves but the way they are perceived by Wider, Whiter America.....Has what Oprah done in the last 20 years been any less "imporant"?

They have world-class facilities and coaches for sure, but there are 10X as many of those in Italy, US or Germany. It's a quantity thing. Afrikan Continental Championship is one of the most exciting (lots of speed and flair) soccer you can ever watch. But on the World arena, their teams are only above-average and far from dominant. Again, 1990 Cameroon and 1994 Nigeria, with some luck, could have won the WHOLE thing. Great to watch.
-
Football is immensely popular in that foresaken part of the world, though. And it's fairly cheap to play-- which is not to say they don't have good facilities or world-class coaches because they have both. They have produced and continue to produce excellent talent- Milla, Amocashi, Veah, etc, etc, etc. Genetic advantage sounds like hogwash to me, but maybe you're unto something, Tolly.
-
I actually don't know many people (including myself) who watch it.....but SOMEONE has to, right? Right? And I was asking more about the Cross-media Phenomenon that is Oprah, not just her show....
-
Tits to kill for. Oops, wrong Darcy. You never seen/heard of Oprah? I find it hard to believe.

Top powers in omdern Football have been: Brazil, Germany, Argentina, Italy, England, France, Holland and Honda-R-us. Well, not Honduras per se. Noticeably absent are Afrikan, specifically, from the West part of the continient. Cameroon had a very competitive team in 1990 and Nigeria was great to watch in 1994 and in 2002 2 othernations made serious slash......But for the most part, historically Afrikan countries haven't been at the forefront of Footballdome. (Which is not to say the continient hasn't produced awesome talent because it has a ton.) Brazil is Black, but also Latino. Argentina is Latinos but also white. England, Germany, France, Holland are all White and Italy is White with a meditarrenean ethnic streak.

What, no more opinions on O? I shoulda picked a more prominent figure I guess.
-
.....so are NE special team grunts....undefeated. You point? Ah yes, that a good QB is in fact a great QB. I can play that game, too: I say Kurt Warner is Johnny Unitas. And Troy Aikman, of course, is Abraham.

Ruddy Yan vs Willie Harris....who is faster from 1st to 2nd?
-
Rowand looks good. Crede looks good. Burhle and Garland look solid. I have lots of faith in Danny Wright recovering completely from the elbow ailment and becoming a solid BP guy. Olivo has more hitting talent than given credit for. Willie Harris smoked AAA in 2003. Reed is AWESOME. One of Cotts/Rauch/Pacheco/Diaz/Munoz/Stewar/Grillit will surely make an impact this upcoming year. Honel and Wing are not that far away. No, at WORST, Sox are have an AVERAGE farm system. Now that we've gotten over that plague of injuries, and no longer over-promote prospects.....we're probably above average.....even considering that Royce Ring, Anthony Webster and Josh Rupe were lost last year. Certainly FAR from terrible. SO don't ven try to skew the criteria to make the Sox look worse than they really are, Baggs you bad man
-
Cuz it's boring and unrealistic. I'd rather see a sweeping roundhouse kick to the noggin' or a decent headbutt in the eye....something to squeel over, ya know?

I think one has to be VERY tough to participate in Brazilian Ultimate Fighting. I don't care how good you are, they can mess you up for life.

I know HBO did a special on some super-fit Hawaii-looking dude as he tried to win the Japan World title AND battle his addiction and slutbag of a girlfriend at the same time. I remember the russian fat slob who had unstoppable kickbowing skills and beat the s*** out of the Hawaiian dude to everyone's dismay. I think he cheated too by kneeing him on the forehead while the ref looked away....surreal. Who is this Menautouro? I hope he is not a wrestler cuz I am sick of wrestlers winning the ultimate fighting.

O-Town is coming back with vengeance. Plus American Idol is always nice.

super bowl original half time show
BrandoFan replied to cwsox's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
of course the stunt was rehearsed, which is just as well......cuz between the two of them, JT and Janet have barely enough talent and charisma to cover one pop idol. Zzzzzz....... Justin's Gramma sadly wasn't available for comment.
