Hey Dick, I don't always agree with Mr. Williams - afterall I penned the - but to call him a moron is a little over board. There are quite a few GMs out there, inclduing those who are not employed at the moment, that would have fared worse under the circumstances. Mediocre is what Kenny is....Unless you think Shueller and Evans are even bigger morons, that is.

From your mouth to God's ears. Safin playing his A game is too much for Agassi.
-
I hear the Book says that being a cocksucker is ok unless one acts on it.
-
And that's why Madison is getting 69'd by Satan as we speak, silly. It's all about Heav, er....state's rights. PS: Ron Paul is a commie f*g-who-acts-on-it. Duh.

Or was it?

Hey, leave abo alone, he's a nice kid. Now me on the other hand......There was never love lost between me and miss Steff.....but since I don't base my day around picking fights with her, we end up having very few if any problems, right Steff? No jealousy, no animosity, no back-stabbing or passive-aggressive BS whatsoever. I believe it's known as "peacefull co-existence". Irish....look into it.

f*** the fight....Fanof14 can turn people on all on her own. Right?

His Rushmore and especially The Royal Tenenbaums oddball and eccentric caricatures, while imaginative and funny to me, aren't sufficiently 3-dimensional-- weren't intended to be, really. Lost In Translation, on the other hand, is a legitimate dramatic role, in which BM acquitted himself quite admirably. Good for him. Bingo! Actors are notoriously vain about overestimating their ability/right-ness for the role. For every Julienne Moore or Cate Blanchett or Emily Watson who can play anything and everything, transcending their 'type' limitations.....there are literally 1000's who THINK that dovetailing themselves into the specific role is just a matter of WANTING it.......Guess again. A good casting director is indispensable. Murray might not have much "range" or whatnot, but boy was he right for the role both physically and temperamentally or what. Kudos to Sophia.

No, more like a saxomophobe.

Soxfan420, how would you rate yourself on the Bad Mof-O-Meter? cuz I gots me a feeling youse can put on a hurtin' when you get pissed. Also, who's your probation officer?

Or it could be UTTER s***. Meet The Parents was cute, not altogether unfunny and set the expectations....and expecations, as you know, are the ENEMY of everything-- especially sequels. (See: Reloaded, Matrix) On a related note, Blythe Danner is AWESOME (talking person and actress here). Her pretentious, overrated daughter (Gwyneth Patrow), however, is NOT.

People have been saying the same thing about Michael Caine for years. And Brando. And DeNiro. And Penn for that matter. We are not judging Murray's CAREER here. Having a great range/versatility should be a secondary consideration. Freddy Prinze Jr and Julia Roberts try to play all these different roles....and are totally unconvincing in all of them. No, give me believability, depth, subtlety and humor any day over self-conscious scenery chewing gymnastics that pass for "range" in the mainsteam lingo these days. YMMV.

Good: --Pompous blowhard Russel Crowe got snubbed in favor of hilarious J-Depp --No sight of Cruise OR Dances With Samuraii as Best Picture...Ha! --Hunter, Clarkson, Gay Harden, Watts, Theron, Morton, Aghdashloo, Law, Kingsley, Tel Toro, Murray, Watanabe, Baldwin, Hounsou, Robbins, Penn.... ALL solid choices. I am SHOCKED. I could live with Re-Ze and Keaton because they're pretty good and because Botox Fivehead is absent. --City of God regetting respect. --Best Picture noms are very diverse and all fairly deserving.... Bad: --It was to MUCH to expect the lead of Station Agent would make it. Academy went out of its way to be LESS about popularity and more about MERIT this year, but common, good or not, an actor under 5 feet tall? Wasn't gonna happen... :fyou Man....Not much else to say. Go Academy for once! [mild horn-tooting] There is NO way I am gonna get 7 of 8 main categories right this year. [/mild horn-tooting]

I'll take 10 minutes of Bill Murray of Rushmore/Lost in Translation over anything Jim Carrey, Mike Myers and Robin Williams have done in the last 5 years combined. YMMV

People....it was a f***in' J-O-K-E. Cocksucker = one a notch below asshole (also not meant literally, don't get any ideas)......which pretty much encapsulates GOP leadership and other assorted criminals in involved in this travesty. Nothing against bi, homo or PA. Do your thang.

Sounds like Ray was porkin' all their EX-s and went out of his way to atone for his guilt by being nice to them on road trips. Prove that he wasn't....with links and quotes and s***.
-
Kenny is NOT a moron. But he IS a mediocre GM at best. And when mediocrity meets LIMITED resources....it DOESN'T fare well.
-
If it was just a matter of changing the swing plane and shortening the stride......half the over-25 minor league hitters would be starting in the Majors. At some point confidence, mental toughness, vision, hand-eye coordination, quickness, power, technique, knowledge of your opponent AND health have to FUSE....and only then a player is READY for the bigs. Borchard maybe the next Adam Dunn....or he may never make it to the bigs again. WHo knows.

Magglio is an 890 career OPS hitter. (Frank and Thome are 1000) His defense is not what it was. He doesn't hustle as much. Lost a step on the pads. Doesn't bunt. GIDP machine. Over 30. So why should he get 5/70+ deal...again?
-
I don't think Rose should have been let in even IF he had confessed. No way, some crimes are too serious. Now? Please....His supporters should stop embarassing themselves making a "case" for him. His longevity (afterall, people DO realize he was WAS an overrated player) put him in the record books. His place in history is guaranteed. HOF? No. At least not in the bastard's lifetime. Next.
-
Right....so that leaves roughly 12 Mill to find Magglio's replacement. Come to think of it, I am not so sure I got the money thing right at all.....Assuming the current payroll swelles another 5-7 Mill to 68-70 mark in 2005 after a good 2004 (going on the limb, I know), let's see: 1B Konerko- 9 Mill DH Thomas 8 LF Lee - 7.5 SP Burhle - 5.5 That's 30 Mill right there. So another 38-40 Mill to spend. Clean-Up - ?? Loaiza - ?? Good #3 SP - ?? Marte (arbit) - ?? RH set up/closer - ?? Shingo- ?? Wunsht - ?? Garland (arbit) - ?? Uribe (arbit) - ?? Crede/Harris/Reed/Borchard/Rowand/Wright/Person/Politte/Jackson/Munoz/Gload Pacheco/Diaz/Olivo/Rauch/Cotts/Adkins/Yofu/Grili -- all cheap Hmmm...cutting it pretty close to the max....lolol

Mr. Mandy Moore is OUT!! Lost a 5-setter to Safin. Good.
-
You're 130 years too late with that pronouncemen there Spiff.
-
Sure.... I mean, it's not like this organization was in desperate need of 2001-2003 seasons to be exciting and successful....We can easily afford embarassing failure and annual deterioration of the fanbase. Who cares about the cumulative negative impact aformentioned KW "misses" had on the team's chances in the last 3 years, right......Silly ol' me.....I should have kept my eye on the prize: Pacheco, Diaz, and Olivo. One of these days, when the payroll is 40 Mill and we are fighting for 3rd place, they could really contribute. Tentative Anthology of Kenny's f***-Ups: Ozzie, Boomer (bad luck my ass, he knew the risk and wasted 10 mill on it), Baines, Ramirez, Clayton, Parque (resurrection), Kipster, Ritchie, White, Pantygua, Koch, Rios, Daubach, Konerko contract, Durham-for-Adkins, Jimenez waiver, trying to get rid of Thomas, Ownedweiss, overpaying Buerhle, Valentin option, Barry/Berry, number of ill-advised mL call-ups...f***ing with Manuel and being responsible for the air of paranoia imbuing the clubhouse during his tenure. He is a year past the expiration date.
-
Sox need to concentrate on maxing out their payroll in 2004, making the playoffs, winning some of its fanbase back and pulling in enough revenues to make a case for an increased payroll in 2005. In '05, a 70 Mill payroll will suit me just fine. I presume Maggliio is byebye-gglio, Koch and Valentin will be off the books off the books. that's 25 Mill right there. If Frank produces, give him a 1-year deal. If not, then it's another 6 Mill freed up to push the total to 31 plus whatever JR spends after seeing good attendance in 2004. That's as much as 40 Mill of cash. Resign Loaiza and Marte. And Wunsht. Get a FA #3. Cross fingers that at least 2 of Garland, Show, Rauch, Pacheco, Cotts can be good #4 and #5. (say, ERA under 4.20 and 4.50 respectively) Hope that 2 of Diaz/Wright/Shingo/Politte/Person/Munoz/Adkins can be good BP guys. (say, ERAs under 4.00) And that 2 of Olivo/Reed/Borchard/Harris/Uribe/Rowand fullfiull their potential (say, good D, speed and OPS of at least 750) Next go out and spend close to 20 Mill of the remaining dough on #3 and #4 hitters. Hoepfully the market will be depressed enough to be able to afford Edmonds/Giles-type guns.
