  1. I am not sure about Best Post of the Year but I have a pretty good nominee for Best NON-Sox Post of the Year, a separate category that needs to exist. (winodj to unmentionable scum in the unmentionable thread). It had the honor of me falling backwards off the chair and almost cracking my skull but still not caring cuz it was so hilarious and on the money. Next year someone should have the rating system going (not based on 1-10, just the simple 'thumb WAY up!' type stuff) to avoid hours of looking through archives. Whenever a super-funny or super-insighful post is made, it gets stored away in an exclusive nomination cache. At the end of the year, only 50 or so posts are truly eligible.
  2. When did this thread become about The Ring-themed cock rings?
  3. I realize how stupid this sounds, tho. Mike Cameron is a 6 Mill a year/multi year player and he'll get that money else where, without having to play for the organization he probably hates.
  4. If it's a minor leaague-type deal, I see NOTHING wrong with Estes giving Rauch or Diaz or whomever else competition for 5th spot in rotation. After he started to throw Hampton-esque slider in on RHs, he was not all that bad. Still have a good curve and can spot his fastball. A good thrid pitch gave him confidence,
  5. . Meh, ancient history. Wouldn't know me unless you were around and loved the JustJim/FarWestChicago/MaidenVoyage/Rdivaldi/Huskers era. KochKonerkoWright....cough-caugh. Great to hear that, you're an asset to this board.
  6. Now THAT's a University of Chicago education! Good to see you post, Joe.
  7. He is not crazy, he is FLAMBOYANT......Besides, just yesterday, super-string theory of universe was ridiculed...
  8. Post of the year will be hard to figure out, you'll need to dig up acrchives. WHo is gonna waste his/her precious time doing THAT?
  9. Post the revenue streams and profit breakdown HERE. Ok?
  10. Stop bickering. Make with the awards already, jesus!!
  11. I agree Paulie is a must. But he is not gone yet, so I am not going to discount. Koch is, again, untradeavble, so I guess let's see of his velocity can be recovered. Valentin won't be dealt before the season, not after half the team is gone. Magglio is one of the best Sox hitters of all time. Very popular player. A legitimate 4-spot slugger. If Paulie is gone, we don't have to trade him as long as don't get in another Koch-type debacle. Anyway, right now depending on who the ace is and when in the season we get him the payroll is either in mid or low 60s. Kong, be gone.
  12. Too many silly awards across the board lower the prestige.
  13. Swearing and cute ethnic slurring was the least of the evil f***'s problems. Foreign Relation Counsell machiavelli s***, his ideas on little third world war, etc. If I have to, I'll take Tricky Ronnie.
  14. I like the idea of awards.
  15. Fine. 1. ______ ??? 2 Loaiza - 3.5 Ml 3. Mark ??? 4. Galrand 2.3 M 5. Rauch 300K ____ ??? Marte 400 K Wright 400K Show 2.5 M Diaz/Munoz 300 K Wunsht 800 K Koch 6 Mill Uribe/Harris 300K Rowand/Reed 300 K Thomas 6 M Maggs 14 M Lee 6 M Valentin 5 M Crede 300K Gload 300K Olivo 300k 38 Mill + ace + Burhle + bench + RH closer + Konerko = ?????
  16. I need someone to do a player-by-player salary breakdown for the Sox so far. Sullivan, Gordon, Evrett, Robbie, Colon, Tony, Dauber departing should make it somewaht easier.
  17. Like it or not, but we NEED to get rid of TWO of Konerko/Koch/Valentin/Ordonez/Lee in order to be ABLE to breathe. Othwersie, we have NO money for a true ace to battle Boston and NY in the postseason......Garland as #4 and Rauch as #5 make me uneasy. No money for Soriano-type stud RH reliever to help out Marte, Wunsht, Wright and Shownweis. The CF/2B platoon of Harris/Reed/Rowand/Uribe is tolerable but only to a point. Wouldn't mind seeing Cameron for under 4 Mill. Olivo needs to take it up a notch offensively. This team needs some dumbass GM to help us out with our problems by taking on OUR salary for a change.
  18. 1. Stupid idea. Given this team financial constraints, the vastly overrated Colon (do I really need to point out just how overrated he? I've done it a million times) was not worth 9 Mill let alone almost 13. We are already overpaying for Maggs, Konerko, Koch, Valentin and will no doubt overpay for Burhle.....So every dime we throw away from now on becomes even more critical to this team's survival in 2004. 2. Kenny was right to not give flash 3.6 Mill a year for 2 years all things considered. He was right to let Graffy go and not overpay as he did with Valentin. He was right not giving in Robbie's 2 year/7-8 Mill demands. Overrated Sullivan getting 3+ mill in arbitration would have been unacceptable. 7-8 Mill for Everett.....Need I go on? I don't see how Sox fans are not being reasonable. We KNOW there is a budget, and we know that given KW's mistakes, he has VERY little margin of error to work with. One more signing like Konerko or Koch and you may as well forget about 2004.....and failure in 2004 probably means even LESS fans and resources in 2005. I knew this s*** was gonna happen back when were fell out of contention in 2001 and there is nothing that disproved me so far-- if our GM makes mistales and we don't win, we sink even further. Too much pressure on Kenny? Cry me a f***ing river. I don't think anyone would b**** as much if Kenny were able to dump Koch and Konerko. Noone would say "he is not doing anything to help the team". Nor would they be saying anything bad if he would use the freed up cash to get Matt Morris from Cards or Ponson, CFe Cameron, 3b/1b Ventura and Soriano-like stud RH reliever.
  19. Admission? WTF, everything was admitted to LONG time ago. For the sake of the game, the next comissioner decided not to make the documents/trancript public. Idiot. Apology? In this case apology doesn't match the crime and should mean NOTHING. In any case, knowing the kind of bull-headed egomaniac Rose is, his "apology", even after nearly 15 years of mulling over, will probably be at once comically insincere, self-aggrandizing and condemnful of MLB, the late Giamatti and his other enemies.
  20. Those are nagging injuries that don't pose ignificant long term threat. No herniated disks, no chronic hip, no pinched nerve in the shoulder/neck, etc. Johnson is a young John Olered sans GG defense. Not free agent until 2007. Sox should only be so lucky as to get a 900 OPS player (who hasn't entered his prime yet) in exchange for a 925 OPS player who will leave at the seasons' end AND save 13.7 Million in the process, which would allow them to get a true ace for the playoffs. UNfortunately, Yankees dealth NJ, so it's all moot anyway.
  21. It says something about a man when the LEAST of his offense is threatening his lackey into consoling his (Rose's) crying wife outside the hotel room where she tracked her own car (which Rose apparently loaned to his 'ho, lol) and trying to convince her that the woman who was in the room was his mistress.......all the while coked up and wasted Rose was banging said 'ho inside, not giving a f*** (no pun intended)......lol Like I said, least.
  22. Besides his ultimate crimes against the game and desecration of the spirit of competition (which have been proven BEYOND reasonable doubt and as such render all this talk of reinstatement pointless rubbish), Pete Rose happens to be the EMBODIMENT of athlete-scumbag, a truly conscience-free garbage of a human being. He didn't get a chance to do Danny McLain-type damage, fortunately as Bart got him first. You people should find yourself better heroes. They are out there.
