You're nothing if not verbose, Cheat.

See, I wouldn't put it that way. If WMD is used and you and your family and friends die, the rest of it doen't really matter. PNAC? Is it really any scarier than FRC has been for, what, 80 years now? BTW, have I mentioned how much I loathe Cheney?
-
In war, confession = guilt, fact Seriously, put a knife to any one of my balls (esp the left one, my favorite) and I'll tell you that not only did I have WMDs with intent to destroy America but also that I sponsored Bin Laden and the late 'tolla Khomeini and Allah knows what else.

1. I think Evrett/Robbie for basically Rupe, Ring, Webster was a good trade because after 2001-2002 debacles Sox needed to win the division BADLY (we are no witnessing the consequences of yet another huge failure) and becase, frankly, other than Ring who is gonna be a solid lefty reliever in the majors, we gave up very little. Webster couldn't hit in LOW A-BAll, people, which means he is AT LEAST 3-4 years away from doing ANYTHING in the majors....if he ever makes it there, which I doubt. Rupe? Meh, just another reliever who throws 93. 2. It's important for Mariners and Cubs to have good farm systems; it's CRUCIAL for White Sox and it's more than just semantics. When you try to win a 50 Mill budget, unless your team can produce Burnett, Beckett, Looper, Cabrera, Pierre, Gonzalez, Lee, Lowell, Catillo, Penny within a short span, you're NOT gonna come CLOSE to winning the world series-- and Marlins were lucky as hell to even make it to NLCS............... Look at it this way: just because Jon Rauch's growth stunted because of injury rendering him unable to post a 4.00 ERA in the majors at the league MINIMUM, we're forced to pay 7+ Mill a year to Ponson to basically post the same name numbers. Similarly, because Munoz and Diaz did not progress as well as we hoped coming into 2003, Sox had pay 1.5 for White, which meant any hope re-signing Foulke in favor of Koch vanished.....pretty much costing us the divison. There a ton of other exampes. The point is that the incoming hyped youngster doesn't even NEED to be "better than an average ML commodity"; he just needs to be as close in ability as possible-- allowing his cheap price benefit the club in other ways. Example: Gload will probably never match Konerko's best, but I will sure as hell take 300K of Gload over 8 Mill of Konerko because the 7.7 Mill you save on the former, combined with a similar saving elsewere, can go toward getting a true ace starter to complement Loaiza, Burhle, Garland in the pennant race and playoffs. And so on. Sox farm system? Middle of the road. I still have hopes for Olivo, Reed and Cotts. Haven't completely written off Rauch, Borchard either. Honel and Pacheco sound intriguing. I don't see a single All-Star in the bunch, but as long as they are legitimate ML contributers in the next 2-3 years, our scouts are to be congradulated.

1. This game was not won by Grossman who had a lousy game. His long-distance lobs could have EASILY produced 2-3 interceptions on an average day. Bears running also sucked up. Ditto run defense. And Edinger who missed another makeable FG and came within inches of missing another one fro something like 20 yards. 2. This game was won by PASS defense that exposed Culpepper's mediocre decision making and Randy Moss's ball-less-ness. AND Peanuts Tillman who singehandedly won the game my making an excellent interception on what 90% of the time is a typical Randy Moss TD....This take-away alone was worth 2-3 non-do-or-die interceptions, especially on hail-marrys where many CB pad their Int totals.

The only regrettable thing is that Sox jumped the gun too soon and overpaid Valentin by about 2 Mill. At 3 Mil per/1 year contract, he is solid bargain and Sox could have used the remaining 2 Mill to resign Sullivan, making a stud RH reliever to help Marte close not nearly as BIG a priority.... Dumb KW.

Good god, I thought me posting this thing this morning was a good dream, lololololololol.. Crook Bush and his scum cronies and spineless Democrats aside........there are very FEW things in the world that make one feel more elated than seeing a TRULY EVIL cocksucker get his cumuppance. The only thing I regret is that he is going to get a death penalty. People like him should be TORTURED (I am talking about balls in a vice style) for years and years, making him PAY for all the pain and death and destruction and suffering he inflicted......before finally giving him a one-way ticket to Hell Hotel. Let the trial begin.

Tejada Signs a 6-year, 54 million deal with Balt.
BrandoFan replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
1. With incentives, this deal is worth anywhere near 10-12 Mill a year. His defense is overrated (much closer to Valentin than he is to A-Rod), his baserunning very mediocre and he is coming off a year where pitchers learned how to piss him off and keep him off balance. 10-11 Mill is too much unless his RBI production is like 2002 every year for 6 years, which is highly unlikely you'd agree. 2. Valentin is signed to just 1 year. If it turns out he can hit LHP from the LH side (say, 670 OPS as opposed to 400 from RH in 2003) and his defense stays what it was from late May on (pretty damn good, only 9 errors and excellent peripherals), I would say Sox can resign for another season. If he doesn't, then it's bye-bye time.....There is no flexibility with Tejada. 3. Magglio is a FRANCHISE player, a perrenial AS, a HUGE name in an organization that is only known for Shoeless Joe, Frank Thomas and....Minnie f***ing Minoso! If it comes down to getting a cheap super-talent like Soriano, then of course pull the trigger. If Mike Cameron could have been had for under 4 Mill, then sure do that, too............. BUT if you're only gonna save a couple of mill and get weaker talent, then trading Maggs, as seemingly unsignable as he is beyond 2004, is a PR SUICIDE. -
Last time I checked, Everett was making almost 2 Mill more than Cameron in 2003....And, yes, as a CF, Cameron IS a better player......if you put him on that Texas team, with unreal line-up protection of Blalock, Young, Palemiro, Gonzalez, Texeira and even Greer, in that lainghing pad of a park....on a last place team where there is hardly any pressure....Cameron would have n aOPS of at least 70 points higher-- and he's had a few 800 OPS as it is! Then baserunning and defense (Carl is really mediocre and bad respectively) which over the 162 game season comes down to quite a lot. Mike is also 2 years younger. Besides, is Manny Ramirez REALLY worth extra 18 Mill over Audrey Huff? Figuring out a player's intristic value is hard enough; knowing who is overpaid or not and who is a better fit for which team is even more difficult. I think people who thought Valentin, Gordon and Robbie would take 2 Mill or Less, or that Colon and Escobar would go for 9 and 3 respectively, fell into the trap of thinking that the prices/demand are gonna drop at the rate at which they rose in the first place. It may indeed be a GM's market (in November), but it's a PLAYER's world. Never forget that. We both know Sox can't afford to overpay, but many teams are NOT like the Sox, both in terms of financial situations AND the division in which they play. They, too determine the market value for players.
-
Jason, did you really think Mike Cameron away from Safeco (check the numbers folks!) field would barely cost much more than 3 Mill? I know, I know, I was that naive myself, too, so who am I to talk.... He's shown he couild be a mid-800 OPS player with good OBP despite playing in a pitcher's parks 81 times a year. His defense was never a question, and while he's lost a step on the basepaths, he is still one of the BEST overall baserunners in AL. He's been one of the greatest regular teams of all time, the 2001 squad, so there is little question whether he can "win". UNder the circumstances, anything under 5-6 Mill was out of the question. If Robbie is gonna get 3+ a year, Cameron should get AT LEAST 2-3 Mill more.

The message is: 1. Don't marry. It's always the wives, never the cutie-pie girlfriends perpetrating these crimes, isn't it? 2. Always sleep on your STOMACH. That way, it's much harder to it cut off in its entirety even if you're Milton Berle let alone Nuke_Cleveland. 3. When you cheat, not getting caught will solve #1-2.

I am not vert sober right now., could be wrong about what they are saying........THEY GOT THE f***ER!!!

. Your symmetry and logically neat characterization is nice in theory but reality is something else. Chicago baseball: 1/3 are die hard Cubs fans 1/5 are die hard Sox fans 2/3 of the remaining (half of Chicago) either don't care about baseball and will never go..... OR will never go to SouthSide, traffic, neighborhood, lack of restaurants or coeds or presitge, latent racism/classism, cam't afford, etc, etc. etc. To get these fair weather people in you'd have to have "event" games such as Cubs/Sox, All-Star Games, Sox-Yankees, plaoffs games, etc. You'd need a 100+ win team that is a national buzz, pefect weather, half-price, etc. JR is right in that he doesn't feel it's prudent to put his financial fate in the hands of these people year in and out. You're right about non-gate revenue streams that make Sox not as cahs-strapped as most think....... but other in turn people are also right about JR needing to make profit BEFORE spending on a team. 58 Mill payrol is designed for him to make MONEY all the while fielding a reasonably competitive product. Spending 70-75+ Mill would put him into red, and that is self-defeating and UNACCEPTABLE for him.

Is he, tho: Personally I don't think I could ever bring myself to vote for a Democrat to run this country. They are the party of welfare queens, criminals, socialism, and big government. f*** em all No mention of atheists or baby-killers or aliens, so I guess he's a border-line Dem. I'm out.

BTW if you think LA will give Perez/Itzituris and Mota for 13 Million worth of Konerko and Valentin, you're kidding yourself. If the trade does take place, it's strctly Konerko PLUS prospect/good cash for Perez.

What's his 4-year OPS (THE single most useful/used offensive stat in baseball) while with the Sox? I thought so. What's his RISP average in 4 year with the Sox? How's his overall baserunning? Bunting? Again, thought so. Fading range? One of THE highest if not highest career RangeFactors in the majors....Finished SECOND of ALL everyday SS in ZoneRating in 2003. Fading. One of THE most efficient DP-turners in the game. How about you look at how many actual RUNS (runs, remember those?) his errors lead to? Sox fan Jim from yahoo web site actually did a study, there is a link somewhere on soxtalk.....Besides, only 10 errors in last 4 and a half months of the season. Looks like with Santana's help, Jose is improving THE only truly weak part of his game. Think before you type next time. . Now that's just dumb as all get out.

Robbie to be a Cardinal by weeks end...
BrandoFan replied to Wise Master Buehrle's topic in Pale Hose Talk
What it suggest to me is that a pathetic (and probably malicious) troll has infiltrated the premises and should be terminated with extreme prejudice. Looking the other way and trying to bend backwards for assorted inconsiderate cocksuckers has been a HUGE, um, problem (you asked me not to dig up the past) at Soxtalk, and is the reason number ONE why it can't compete with WSI. Our best posters easily rival theirs. Our worst....well, you know. I admit I've been as guilty as anyone in over-praising the "freedom" aspect of this site in the past. At some point, diminishing returns is all one gets. -
Robbie to be a Cardinal by weeks end...
BrandoFan replied to Wise Master Buehrle's topic in Pale Hose Talk
1. Robbie should be hitting LH exclusively. He can post a 730 OPS that way with his eyes closed. That's why he probably wasn't worth more than 3 Mill a year- because you are basically getting a 425 at-bat player.....if you're smart enough to NOT let him hurt you by not allowing him to start against lefties, that is. 2. It's true Robbie is no longer a GG'er, but he is still ABOVE average overall. Willie? As physically gifted and agile as he is, where is the GUARANTEE that he doesn't go on an error spree once things don't go his way and he is in a mental funk which every young player goes through? All young players, from A-Rod to Garciappara and Chavez STRUGGLED defensively in their first couple of years....What makes Willie so special? Wait until he has to take the daily beating and psychological grind of having to perform as a leadoff hitter on a playoff-caliber team......If they could be Thomas, they could boo him.......So I wouldn't give the dge defensively to Willie just yet. 3. It's true Willie is super-fast, but his Robbie instincts still make him a very good overall baserunner and what's good is Willie speed if his OBP is 250? 4. Bunting? I saw Willie blow TWO crucial bunts with trying run on base against either Padres or Red Sox......while Robbie is one of game's best bunters, period. Again, with Burhle signed and no longer a bargain, any hope that we had money to get Robbie back should be buried. Maybe it's for the best and Willie as a chance ot succeed, but let's not get ahead of ourselves and gloat about Cards making a stupid move just YET. -
Robbie to be a Cardinal by weeks end...
BrandoFan replied to Wise Master Buehrle's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Damn, I had to do a double take.....only THEN I realized it wasn't Rex posting......Talk about that BE GOOD/letter rearranging effect, totally went by me, lol!!! Oh and Fakester McRudler? WTF are you talking about "five years ago"? Check out Alomar's 1999-2001 production....Harris couldn't carry Robbie's jock strap as late as LAST year as mediocre as Robbie was, and there is NO indication Harris will ever be a 650+ OPS regular.......while Robbie could probably bunt for that OPS when he is 50, lol. No basestealing ability? Despite his flexor, he stole 12 bases in 14 attempts in 2003 and was still very good (even if not exactly as good as 3 years ago) in non-stealing situations such as scoring from 2nd on a liner single to RF, from 1st on a short double, go to 3rd from 1st on a grounder single to CF/RF, etc.....Robbie might be done, but he not worthless by any means--- prodived he is only used against RHPs. Of course signing of Burhle (which was decided long ago I presume) pretty much ensured Robbie won't be back, and I am not sure he was worth 2/6 he is gonna get from Cards. -
EEEEEEEEEEE, TRY AGAIN, Mr. Ross! It took some researching on my part (I knew I missed out on a lot when I was gone!), but god motherf***ing dammit you stuck it to a certain evil hypocrite someone but good in one swoop paste-job. Rock on.
