Wow...just wow. Monumental stupidity much?

In case you weren't being sacrastic...Kevin Smith has a tin (or is it teen) ear for dialogue and comedy; he's coasted on cultish cuteness of Clerks humor long enough. If I have to hear another pointless cock-sucking shtick... Go away, dude, and take your infantile, repetitive, opposite-of-cool crap with you. And Ben Aflleck and Jason Lee while you're at it.

I don't expect anything from him anymore after Barcelo experiment...and Lorenzo at least had a nice arsenal of breaking pitches and enough control/poise to sustain him after the inevitable huge, multiple surgeries-related velocity drop. Sox really f***ed him over with overwork and then a "dead arm" misdiagnosis a few years back. He is done as a stud SP prospect, afaiac.

I saw the replay...what a f***ing idiot...12-run blowout...as usual got a bad jump...then blatantly tried to embelish the catch I guess to make the SportsCenter reel (to be fair 90% of OF'ers do that)...resulting in an ackward dive-roll, ugly landing on the carpeted concrete...ended up possibly robbing himself of the season and a real chance to do something in the Bigs. At least Singleton had presence of mind and defensive fundamentals to correct his f***-ups and never hurt the team by needlessly hurting himself...s***.

Aron Miles has Graffaninino speed (look at his SB%) and is even worse defensively. He doesn't walk either. He is hot with the bat, sure, and his value IMO will never be higher than it is now, hitting in a sandbox of a park. He'll make a decent trade bait right about NOW as would Porzio. Some to think about.

Couldn't happen to a better guy!

He does throw in the high 90's. According to Bullard he's got great stuff. Damn, I pissed the proverbial pants in excitement...that's great news! Say, isn't he a really skinny dude who weighs less than Willie Harris despite being 6'2"? To bad "high 90's" in the Sox minor league lingo is often "low 90's" in the majors (see: Kane, Valentine, Wright, Barcelo, Wells, Galrand, Stumm, Rauch, etc), funny how that works, lol...

I'm not Pauline Kael, or Siskel and Ebert or anything like that either. I am a great admirer of the late Akiro Kurosawa the great Japanese director. Rashomon is my all time favorite movie, and no I don't speak Japanese. Also liked his movie Stray Dog. My favorite American movie is High Noon the 1952 classic with Gary Cooper. The scene at the end where he throws his badge in the dirt is classic. Grace Kelly always gets to me, I can't think of a modern actress with anything close to her beauty and for the lack of a better term sex appeal. I shall stop now before eyes glaze over or start to roll. I don't care much for Siskel or Ebert either, but Pauline Kael was the best American film reviewer in the last 50 years IMO, and two of the 3 pics I mentioned just happened to be her favorites as well, by coincidence naturally, lol...I absolutely love Kurosawa's take on King Lear- Ran...which was made largely thanks to Scorsese securing much of the financing. Sergio Leone and Clint Eastwood (Fisful of dollars, The Good, bad, ugly, etc) totally ripped offf Kurosawa's Samurai Trilogy and Magnificent Seven is just Seven Samurai set in the West...not to mention that f*** King George Lucas shamelessly used The Hidden Fortress idea to make the original Star Wars without any credit or compensation whatsoever...Master Akira would be on my top 5 directors of last 50 years list easily, up there with Bergman, Kubrick, Scorsese and Triffaut. As far as regal Grace Kelly goes, ironically enough she was the biggest slut that ever slutted, a regular carnivorous man-eater, sorta like the hybrid between Julia Roberts and Wanna Ride'er....Sorry.

As long as he: --throws 3 or more pitches for strikes, with good movement --has solid mechanics and doesn't tip the them off --is not a nut case like Wells/Garland/Ankiel I don't care if his fastball is 97 or 91.

Sopranos and The Daily Show (The Simpsons go without saying, though I haven't seen one in 2 years) are where it's at. Everything else sucks, kapisch?
-
Yeah, but I bet Carl Lewis could kick his ass in a spint
-
Can Crawford, Pierre or Guzman beat Joey Galloway/Deon Sanders types?
-
Are you saying Guzman can beat Willi in a 40 dash?
-
The poll should have been titled "Wheels"...Could you give me the top 10 in the game. I know Tom Goodwin and Ricky Henderson used to be fast... Corey Patterson was made out to be like this Joey Galloway, track star-type...
-
Try me....lol, lemme jus' say that my list includes Chongqing Senlin, Last Tango In Paris and Jim et Jules. And, no, I am not Pauline Kaelist, thankyouverymuch.

Let me just preface it by reminding you that I dislike KW personally, especially his tendency to abuse people under him... from what i know/heard of him, and am pretty neutral on whether he stays with the organization or not. I am just sick of everyone gleefully bashing practically every one of his moves on every corner simply because he was associated with the 2001-2002 team...all the while profellating the Boy Wonder that is Billy Beane in every publication/medium. Huh? WTF are talking about, did you even read the whole thread before replying? I ask 'cause if you did, you would see that I never dreamed of putting D. Wells trade in "successful" category, in fact, I admitted the trade "backfired" a while back......But fair is fair, and considering how well he has pitched in the last 2 seasons and how well he pitched in 1997-2000, I cannot look at 2001 showing as anything but an injury-related aberration. I truly believe Kenny knew something about Sirotka though I have no proof to back it up. At worst, I say the trade was a wash, without adjusting for new season ticket holders the marquee trade brought or the inarguable positive influence D. Wells had on Buerhle.... Let's face it, 2001 Sox was a horrible accident on so many levels. 2002 is a a different story, and KW gets a lof of due flak for Ritchie trade even if it seemed like a safe bet at the time--Kip Wells had 6.00 ERA in 2000 and one close to 6.00 in the second half of 2001 afterall....Also, how can you realistically expect a GM to bat a 1.000 and make gold on every move he makes? Yes, again, his "misses" just happened to be pretty disasterous, I'll give you that, but not entirely his fault for various reasons mentioned.....Overall he gets a C+ grade from me, but he would have a solid A- without the Ritchie managerial accident. YMMV. Cubkilla, wadr, to say Kenny singlehandedly destroyed the farm system is asinine, Kip "Jeckyl&Hyde" Wells excepted. ETA: I completely forgot about his ridding the Sox of Olestra and, to a lesser exstent, overpaid Howry. Extra points. -

I would agree except for 2 things: 1) when it comes to injuries, all bets are off; Wells wasn't a "bust" as much as he got injured going into the season so it couldn't have possibly worked out no matter how smart or stupid KW is as a gen. manager...and 2) Kip Wells-Todd Ritchie was considered to be a wash/advantage Sox by overwhelming majority of Sox fans at the time. I bet Pirates management are still slapping their knees, celebrating their fortunes....I didn't care for the trade either, but I could certainly see the steely logic behind it. Yes, no matter how good of a young GM Kenny is, the 2001-2002 debacle is sticking out like a sore thumb in every Sox fan's mind...and I would never say he was a success overall. However, I do realize that, as I mentioned before, that luck simply wasn't on our side, especially in 2001....Billy Beane on the other hand, completely lucked out with Mulder-Zito-Hudson-Lidle quartet to the point where he didn't need to be a genius on other trades and he wasn't. W'll see how the arrogant prick does when Tejada takes off and Hudson follows after next year.... -

I simply can't blame Kenny for David Wells- who f***ing knew? Look at how he is doiung with the Yankees, for crying out loud...He also did wonders mentoring a nobody Burhle if anything else...Ritchie? Yes,, it was bad, hindsight 20/20, but tell me you didn't want Wells-Ritchie trade straight up back in late 2001...lol I hardly think Glover, Gordon, Koch, Marte, Loiza, Olivo, DJ, Cotts, Diaz, Yofu, Harris, Daubach, etc are "minor" their actual or potential contribution factored in...These people are INSTRUMENTAL to winning. (BTW I also forgot about Kenny Lofton, another sleeper trade, he carried the lowly Sox on his back for first two months with his stick, glove and baserunning (and a low salary ala Estban Loiaza) before pulling a muscle and ending up being platooned with "future" Rowand.. Kenny was very clutch for the Gains in the playoffs I recall. -

Then he must be a great GM because he "came through" on 80% of the moves he made....unless you belive that Koch, Gordon, Daybach and Harris are going to continue to suck for the rest of the season. Which I don't. Again, Wells (we gave up nothing), Adkins (Ray was as good as gone and I don't believe there were any great offers) and Ritchie (Fogg I can let go off, but Kip Wells is a rising star, though to be fair it was a fluke trade on so many levels) were his downfall. Not the percentage but the damage done by his few "misses"... However, let's not get carried away, injuries and severe undererformance have destroyed this team, and Kip Wells wouldn't have saved it last year, let's be reasonable, K? -

David Wells is not his fault; had the cocksucker taken care of his back a little better in the offseason(s), it would have been a good signing, no doubt especially in light of the fact that Marky-Mark credits Wells for his break-through.....He also gets a semi-pass from me on the Durham situ because with CBA/strike thing impending and with the Sox being clearly out of it and unable to pay his huge tab, I don't believe A's would have given up Mark Mulder, ya now what I mean? Still, he should have demanded high-risk/high-reward Adam Piatt instead of a high-risk/medium reward AAA wannabe he ended up getting. Which bring us to the Ritchie Fiasco, a terrible move in retrospect, one that robbed us of a 2nd and 4th starters for years to come and gave us a guy with 6.00+ ERA....This trade is the ONLY reason why KW is not up there with the best young GMs in the game IMO...and at the time, if you remember, many people hated Wells's guts and couldn't give a flying f*** about Fog, while Ritchie was considered a good pitcher, certainly better than Loiza was up until this year. I am not making an excuse, but it's not lik the Pirates knew what they were getting either. I truly believe that in 5-10 years, Kenny will be a good GM, I really do. -

I don't like KW because of much-discussed "manipulative egomaniac" factor, BUT... Glover, Marte, DJ, Olivo, Koch, Harris, Gordon, Colon, Daubach, Loaiza are all either producing starters or will be shortly IMHO. In addition, he singlehandedly revitalized our SP class with Felix Diaz, Yofu and Neal Cotts. In anything, it's his "safe" plays--Wells, Ritchie, Adkins--that have backfired. Horribly. -
