Very good post, Killa. I think at this point Glavine could be an option -- I am not sure what the contract situation is though. Unit will cost too much. Leiter -- something about him that bugs me. Hudson will cost us the farm. Garcia turns his attitude on and off. Once we (hypothetically) get an ace starter, might want to look at a closer and maybe a Palmeiro-type rent-a-hitter.

I think this AB was just as cool as 44yo Julio Franco spoiling off about ten 99mph fastballs by Farnsworth and then doubling off the wall the other way.
-
Hits 15 consecutive foul balls in same at bat against Clement. Next pitch on 2-2? HR

Read the title post. I never said he should be sent down.

that GW 2-out, 2-run "double" by Sweeney was a disgrace. TB 3B totally misplayed a funky bounce on a routine groundball, mistimed his dive....ugh, what a mess. KC Royals have to stay burried. Last thing we need is for them to get some inspiration and get Mays, Anderson, Affeldt, Gobble, Lescanic, Mac and Sullivan on the roll. Then there will be less pressure on their offense and it's pretty potent when it's clicking. Don't discount them yet.

Yawn. Adkins is not good. NONE of the "facts" you brought up show otherwise. He was garbage in a REPEAT year in AAA. Most scouts would agree. And of course k/9 and whip matter....duh. The rest of your post is utterly worthless. Your assessment of my character couldn't be more irrelevant. Is that "minute" enough?

Gagne? It would be nice to have a WHIP under 2.00 in non-blow-out games! Few years? Last time I checked Sox are embroiled in a very important pennant race. This franchise is fighting for whatever is left of its fan-base. Time to take lumps was during the repeat year of AAA ball....where Adkins sucked btw. Spring training? Yeah he had a nice ERA but he did give up 9 hits in 10 inn, with 3 walks and 2 HBP while only K-ing one batter -- and he faced quite a few minor leaguers as relivers tend to do in ST. This guy has shown ability to survive jams, but it's just a matter of time before the lack of K's and a high WHIP catches up IMO.
-
That's because they are winners and Sox are, well, not. I am convinced that if Twins were to put their AAA affiliate on the field, they'd still find a way to compete.
-
Yadayadayada..... Taking the 2 meaningless innings he pitched in a 15-0 game out..... 9.1 innings, 11 hits, 8 walks, 8 Ks......ERA 3.86, WHIP 1.90. Are you effin' kidding me?! Even Billy Koch's WHIP is much lower! Best resume my ass.
-
It was a joke, lol. If he really had as many BB as Ks in AAA, he'd be worthless. Still his ERA and k/9 were really bad for such a blue chip prospect. And his WHIP is terrible. It's even worse if you take away some of the scoreless innings he threw in pressure-free blow-out situations such as yesterday -- and if you really want to assess someone's worth, see how they pitch when the game is not decided.
-
Yes, and his WHIP in non-blow-out situations is 43526636.

A ML-ready AA'er has to be dominating his peers, most of whom won't sniff the majors. Not open for debate. 2.75 figure sounds reasonable enough - it really depends on the peripherals, the league and ballpark one plays in. Since I like my major league relivers with ERA's in 3.50-3.75 or lower, 2.75 in AA is just fine, even if ideally I'd prefer it was closer to 2.00.
-
Put Adkins in AAA and he'll have more walks than K's. He sucks. Wunsch at least was unhittable before going on DL last May. Bajenaru and Yofu are pitching well. Private Santiago, too for that matter.
-
How about Much Inferior Hitting Talent Factor, have you adjusted for that?
-
:headshake That girl on Oprah whose faced burned off in a drunken car wreck, firemen at the scene described her screams as very 'manly'. I guess it all evens out at the end.
-
Incorrect on the former, correct on the latter. He hasn't been the same base-stealer since 2001 ST - bad hamstrings are a b****. .
-
Could Cheat SUE the team? I would.

See now I remember you dancing on your keyboard during Shock & Awe and generally parroting every transparent right-wing slogan/war justification under the sun. My my, how the times change.

See, death is too easy, too humane. The G-tines and ax beheadings used to be considered the "best" way to go. No pain. Now torturing (cooking in oil, etc) the insurgents and religious fanatic killers once a week for 20 years, keeping them alive just to humiliate and inflict unbelivable pain --- that's something I could get behind. Talk about Hell on Earth. I bet the word will get around quickly.
-
See now that's not necessariy sarcasm. 1. I expect relievers pitching in B-ham to have ERA's no higher than 2.75. So if he would indeed finish with 2.50 ERA after an unbelivable start as you say, that means as far as I am concerned, AA hitters HAVE "figured him out". 2. That sissy fastball and "lucky" comment. I remember Royce Ring absolutely cruising, ERA-wise.....But in reality a 90mph fastball and that whole "giving up other peoiple's runs and generally dominating younger hitters" thing was the real reason, and soon reality caught up with ol' Ringmeister -- he's getting lit up in Mets AAA as we speak. Since I haven't seen Baj pitch......Next time be more subtle is all.
-
5 walks/33K? Sounds good. Just WHAT makes Adkins a better pitcher/more worthy of a ML job than Yofu, Wunsch, Santiago or His Bajenaruness?
-
Whoa. What you should have done is punch the f*** out of the guy who broke your glasses and run the f*** out before the drunken dinks had a chance to jump on you.

Matrix II & III = unwatchable s***. In every way. For me, there is only one Matrix.

Of course Bonds is juicing which is why I could never place him over Ted Williams. Remember Williams made his living off the Green Monster, so let's not exaggerate the park effects. Bigger parks hurt HR boppers, but they also help singles and doubles hitters. It's not as if Bonds is playing in a sandbox -- and most of his homers are 400+ feet to RF-RCF. As far as watered down pitching......There is every reason to believe pitchers didn't throw as hard in the 40's as they do now. Also, a hitter could time a pitcher better because he would that pitcher more often. There was no slider, and most pitchers featured 2 pitches. Dead ball, big parks, big strike zone, pitchers knocking batters off the plate, yadadadada............Look at the league averages from that era. They had lower slugging in that era but higher OBP. OPS wise, the difference is neglegeable. 750-760 was average then and it is average now.
