  1. Of course. The % is much, much since I assume you can't fool God and many Christians won't make it either. But worry not, old chap -- all the right people will be where WE are going. Heil Hell and all that
  2. Outside of that admittedly important 1st half of 2000 and of course Game 3 of ALDS that year, JB has been a mediocre pitcher at best. Her also had some injury problems. I would have let him go for free.
  3. Huh? What's "obscurd" is to think a player from the 40s is by far superior to the player from the 90's. In any other sport, such suggestion would be laughable. Bonds blows him away in base-running and defense and hitting-wise he's not that far behind. Bonds also almost singlehandedly took the Giants to a few outs away from winning the World Series, while Williams totally choked in the only playoff series he even played in. The only reason why Bonds is not better is the steroid allegations.
  4. He doesn't have the batspeed or the hand-eye coordination or hitting IQ to be a top-notch slugger. But with his speed, he won't need to -- if he could do what Chuck Knoblach did in mid-90's -- with a little more power and even more steals, he could be an MVP candidate. He's at least 2-3 years away, though.
  5. Glad. As I was glad when "we" didn't sign Colon, Matsui, Aurillia, Garciaparra, Castillo among others.
  6. Naturally DiVX. One of the 10 best flicks I saw in 2003. One of my faves, for sure. They're re-releasing it here, subtitled and chopped up. :puke Why would people who fill up on the Potters and the Spidermans would want to see this I have no idea. Oh well.
  7. Yes, that's it. Troy....talk about bloated, completely unoriginal in every way blockbusteria fodder with laughable CGI . At least the Gladiator had Crowe, and Pitt is no Crowe.
  8. I think we're getting off-topic here. Seems the failure rate is pretty high. I wonder if they use modern technology to fullest extent when evaluating potential draftees these days. I mean, you can only get so much from a player's HS numbers and try out sessions. Like extensive tests to measure physiological and psychological attributes., whichih when used with statistical context (hs, college track record) could maybe aid in projecting the ceiling/developmental curve.
  9. Yeah, but how come you don't mention the other 4 current Sox on the "choke" list? When people say the bats didn't show up in 2000 ALDS, what they really mean is that the 4 overswinging boppers in the middle of the line-up got exploited by playoff-quality pitching and choked.
  10. No, 12-year-olds giving group-head is just a healthy part of coming-of-age. It's definately not symptomatic of grave personal/social ills. :puke
  11. 99% (or 90% if you like round figures) of everything is either mediocre or bad, by default. 90% of scientists. Pro athletes. Artists. Stock traders. Etc.
  12. Again, a small saving grace is that he had a decent season when it mattered (1st half of 2000 when the division was basically won, JB made an All-Star team) and actually SHOWED UP in the playoffs while clearly not 100% health-wise. Speaking of which.....Playoffs Showed up: Durham - 875 OPS, sac bunt Valentin - 917 OPS, 3 steals, sac bunt Perry - 1056 OPS Baldwin - no ER if defense makes the play. Barcelo - 2 inn, no hits, no runs Didn't show up: Thomas - 308 OPS :puke Ordonez - 670 OPS Konerko - 100 OPS :puke Lee - 264 OPS :puke Singleton - 444 OPS :puke Foulke 11+ ERA :puke Nice to know.
  13. One of the few players I actually wished a serious injury on. I didn't have to wait long.
  14. Boy are you barking up the wrong sv'acheno drevo here or what! ROTFLMAO.
  15. Please. 1% of it is timeless. 99% is either mediocre or garbage. Like any other era/movement.
  16. How do you like that karma pill now, b****!
  17. And iirc he was traded not because he was bad but because he wanted/made too much money.....Stupid, sexy Sox management. :headshake
  18. In what way? Not cinematography or action or historical element because Hero blows it away with ease. CTHD was more sentimental, more mainstream-y, straightforward. It had a girl protagonist -- Michelle Yeah was still hotter
  19. Like any musical genre, it has its moments. I heard it through the grapevine is hilarious, too.
  20. He might have just taken Rowand's job away -- against RHP anyway.
  21. Tampa is looking forward to him reaching his prime. He is only 23. 390 OBP, 500 Slug. 70SB/15 CS and a bunch of extra bases on the pads on non-steal plays - like scoring from 1st on doubles off the wall with less than 2 outs, etc. Also Gold Glove defense in LF. He could do all that a few years from now without having to hit 25 HR.
  22. I don't think they'll give him anything to hit. I remember Jose 3 homers in 3 at bats thing. Next 3 at bats, KC pitchers throw pitches well out of the zone and just put him on base each time to save face.
  23. It would be oh-so-hilarious if it wasn't so infinitely sad. I mean, my God. :headshake
  24. Except Ted Williams was arguably just as selfish and just as arrogant as Bonds. George Will had a pretty good, very short essay about it. Back on topic..................................................................... Ted Williams -- 1116 career OPS. Missed 3 years of prime where he would have averaged 1160 OPS, 130 RBI in all likelyhood. So he should have 620+ HR, 2200+ RBI and 1130 OPS if he had played those years. . Barry Bonds -- 1035 career OPS. Again with those 3 missed years, Williams is probably at 1130. Big difference. Now, if I were to count Bonds's SB and bases he "saved" as a GG LF toward his OPS, then his REAL OPS is closer to unreal 1200, far ahead of Ted Williams even if the latter was a better RBI man. So Bonds is a better player. But because he is playing in a Sluggin-oriented era AND because IMO he has been a roid-head at least since 2000, I have to take whatever he did in the last 4+ years with a humongous grain of salt. Therefore I would say that they are about EQUAL all things considered. Ruth is still king. Williams and Bonds are not far behind along with Mays, Mantle and DiMaggio.
  25. Yes I am 12, whydoyouask
