  1. Funny you say that considering Sox are KINGS of Overrated. Garland? Kevin Brown he is not. Wright? :puke Harris? Robbie is spinning in his grave right about now. Crede? If Scott Rolen had a slow bat and took forever to release the ball. Berroa and Patterson are "bad ball" (read: stupid) hitters live bats. While mediocre defensively, both have the tools to win a Gold Glove. Both are legitimate threats on the pads -- none of that Aaron Rowand, 10 steals a year BS. I would take either of them on my team in a heart beat. They won't win you a championship, but as supporting players they might just thrive.
  2. First of all, Garland needs a 94mph four-seamer. He had it in first 5 innings and was unhittable without really fooling the hitters. That f***ing floating change-up may be worse than Wright's. That curve is great half the time and terrible (either 58 footer or a roller) the other half, so Jon-Jon knows he can't really on it to be an out pitch. Mediocre control. Vacuous, will-less, smirking surfer. Get an ace. Slide Judy into #4 and Schoney into #5 which suit their modest talents more.
  3. Pujols 13th round? Oswalt 23th? Sexson 24th? :headshake
  4. For some reason I feel ok about Politte even though his stats are worst than Botch's. He was lights out in ST. Now he stopped trusting that slider for some reason -- and now hitters are geared for that heater. Again, if this team is going to hit like it is now, Politte's struggles won't matter that much -- we be in deep s***. But if Sox offense is putting runs on the board, and Judy is pitching like he did through first 5 innings today, Sox will absolutely need to get an Urbina or a Benitez at the break. Koch is toast. Politte's headcase. Marte is a set-up man, Cotts is a starter and Shingo can't be overexposed.
  5. It's just amazing how most of these guys were passed on over and over again. Funny how 4th pick Valido may some day surprise the hell out of all of us...all the while can't miss "studs" like Borchard and Abbott fizzle. Life is funny like that.
  6. Don't worry so much WH1 -- after Jose goes 0 for 5 with 4 K's tonight, Willie should be back in the line-up on Sat and Sun.
  7. He is 34 and he makes 5 Mill. You leave him down, you risk pissing him off, especially considering Willie is not hitting, either. And then you can kiss any hope of dealing his salary for a prospect good-bye. Put yourself in Ozzie's shoes. Valentin was Sox' best player in ST and after a slow start, was just getting on a roll before going on DL......Ozzie may pay lip service to Willie, but deep down he knows his OWN job is on the line, so he will risk everything just to make sure Valentin, Konerko, Lee and other starters play. If Sox lose, then, well, they were't good enough and he doesn't get blame as much. If they win, then Ozzie is a genius who "revived" those vets, and it will also give KW the oppostunity to dump their salaries and actually get something in return. Or something along those lines.
  8. Oh and before I forget......Sox are 8-3 when Valentin starts at SS -- as opposed to barely mustering 9-7 against the likes of TB/Cle at HOME. Needless to say, the7 were outscored in those games, so that's a very "iffy" 9-7. "Lamer ass"? Lose the 'tude, or I'll fact-check your ass into oblivion, jack.
  9. I think I'll take 110 atbats of March-April over 25 ab of rehab.... If Valentin is sitting (which he should be), it SHOULDN'T be because of LHP thing -- as I pointed out Willie Harris is BEYOND brutal against them. Valentin should sit against ALL pitchers because his timing is clearly out of whack.
  10. I'd do Val-for-Garcia straight up. Too bad the M's won't. Nor will the Angels do Washburn for Val. Nor will the Cubs do Beltran/Guzman for Val. Valentin has very little value to other teams. He is batting .050 in AAA. /End of story.
  11. I don't know if you noticed it or not, but in Spring Training and so far this season, Jose has been hitting lefties better than Willie is hitting RIGHTIES.......There is a reason why Sox almost never bat Willie against LHP: 300 OPS
  12. Feel free to add your candidates like Mattingly, I am sure I missed quite a few. The draft cut-off point was arbitrary, probably within last 25 years, although I slipped in a few exceptions.
  13. Yes, but it means that if anything else a s***load of future impact talent will NOT come from early 1st round of this draft.

  16. How 'bout Rambam and Rashi, can they quote them?
  17. Hey, you leave Ilytch out of this, mmkay?
  18. Also....Nanita, King and Young won't see the majors.
  19. It was never about "options" with Borchard; it was about him becoming Mark Mcgwire/Adam Dunn clone -- but with speed and defense. And he is not.
  20. Does Hendry have "rape me while my guitar gently weeps" tattooed on his forehead? Cubs have enough talent to win 95+ games, and Martinez is a perfectly serviceable role player, certainly as good as Gonzo has been so far this year. The only way they're giving up Sisco Tech and Guzman is for Tim Hudson if Mark Prior ends up done for the year, which is unlikely.
  21. So? Last time I checked, he finished with an ERA around 3.00, with pretty good peripherals. Plus, I was clearly talking in the context of play-offs (game 1, game 4, etc) -- and without him, Fish would have been steam-rolled by the Cubs -- hell, they almost steam-rolled them WITH Beckett, lol.
  22. I have a hard time believing someone who "knows" your posting style, personality and world outlook/beliefs would come to that asinine conclusion. If PA wasn't kidding, then he's either an idiot or an asshole, or both. I don't think he is either. It's the same with scores of insipid retards who accused me of being a Sox-hater and a troll who is looking for fights over the last few weeks, and would love for me to be banned. I am not about to start proving to those lemmings how many games I go to, or how intensely I root for the team, etc. f*** 'em, let them be wrong to their hearts' discontent. Same here: if after all your posts, on so many subjects, and after myriad clarifications and qualifications you provide when it comes to more controversial matters, people STILL can't/won't see or respect your side, then maybe they aren't worth your time or energy. Just a thought.
