  1. That's the point -- Sox don't have one. Not even close. Ace at the ASB is an absolute must. You need a stud to take the ball in Game 1 and Game 4 against Pedro/Shilling/Vasquez/Brown. And no, Perez and Garcia aren't exactly who I had in mind. Think Hudson. Think Unit. Think Halladay. Think Shmidt (if healthy).
  2. Roberts is not that fast. Above-average speed. It's instincts, technique and homework that make it look easy. Taking advantage of Showenwiess is also a big part of it - do whatever it takes. Obviously I was exaggerating with "without a throw" comment, but the point still strands: best basestealers make it look EASY -- except when I-Rod or Olivo are behind the plate and someone like Buerhle is on the mound, of course. Yes, I've heard the "botched hit-n-run" excuse at least 3 or 4 times so far this year. If true, then for a team that was supposed to beat the opposition with small-ball, it happens too often. Watch their leads. Watch the jump. Only Willie Harris has the speed to make up for it, but guys like Magglio, Uribe, Olivo, Perez, Rowand need to work on both areas. 70% is the cut-off point.
  3. You can't be gay if the majority doesn't deem it right for you to be gay. Democracy, hello! And the bigot-bullies in your examples are just unsuspecting enforcers of the morally and socially proper norms; the means they employ aren't always palatable, but the message is clear: don't be a freak.
  4. Uribe could have made that play.
  5. I tired of hearing this excuse all the time. If anything that says Sox can't execute a hit-n-run OR steal a base wtih ease. Step 1. Get a huge "Valentin" lead. Step 2. Remember what you learned in the film room re: pitcher's delivery Step 3. Use your youthful wheels and quickness to swipe the bag standing. Most of Sox steals seem to be of bang-bang variety, and watching the replays of the lackadaisical leads and poorly timed jumps, I can understand why, Do you think Brian Roberts has incredible speed? No, but he does know what he is doing when he goes, so he swipes bags often without a throw. Sox should emulate that.
  6. For a team that plans to "run all year long", our base-runners get supringly sloppy with their basestealing, something you can see on replays in particular. Olivo, Uribe, Magglio...short lead + slow to read the pitcher = a lot of caught stealing in the future. Who is teaching these baserunners, Ozzie? Either run less or use better technique.

Absolutely. Circa 20 years ago, a HOF MILF - with a law degree and a talent in performing arts to boot!
  9. That was soooooo bad it crossed over into good again
  10. That's why I love this thread. Religious fundamentalism couched in side-splittingly hilarious "secularized, academic" rhetoric, peppered by intellectual dishonesty = popcorn time for moi.
  11. Oh great, just what we need....MLB Player's Union and the Democratic Party joining forces.
  12. Lennon was a raging no-Godnik - what does he know! "Love is always having to say you're sorry"......pffff, that's not what Ryan O'Neal and Robert Evans claim
  13. That's right. The Godless skank shouldn't say 'NO!' before researching and inquiring upon the effects of such decision. Those effects may include, but not be limited to, buying a rum bottle upside that pweeetty heeeeyd.
  14. Calling ML franchise "nimrods", saying that double-headers "suck" and that infamous 'boner' comment along other things.....DJ should have been an honorary Sox-n-Roll'er.
  15. Expos would draw a hellavalot more if they stopped this Tijuana nonsense and built themselves a new ice rink by the lake.
  16. Oh yes he is. Mike rules.
  17. I know, it's amazing really. He wants to hit homers, we get it. But pitchers know that and with Carlos scuffling behind him, they are busting him away. Either he adjusts and starts looking away (think singles and doubles, not HR) at the expsne of an occasional HR pitch he might miss inside, or these pop ups to 1B-2B will become more frequent. Oh and....Put him at 1B, Ozzie.
  18. If Koch, Shingo and Politte could hold Yankees down, I think Keith will manage.
