  1. QUOTE (fathom @ May 28, 2017 -> 02:37 PM) Moncada is not that bad on defense We'll see. He probably won't be anywhere near as good as Sanchez, however. Regardless, maybe the Sox should have Anderson and L Garcia swap positions.
  2. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 28, 2017 -> 02:30 PM) This...totally this. I can't fathom how anyone would automatically assume Anderson would be this poor of a defender going forward. Like you said, he was awesome last year and the metrics agreed. I heard he was pretty bad defensively in the minors. Then when he came up last year I couldn't believe how good he played. The way he's been playing so far this season is more of what I expected of him. The Sox defense is really going to take a hit when Moncada replaces Sanchez at 2B. Yikes.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ May 28, 2017 -> 02:20 PM) Sooner they move him to CF, the better. He's unplayable out there I was happy last year when it looked like I was wrong about Anderson. Now I'm sorry that it appears I was right.
  4. Sox are gonna shell him.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 23, 2017 -> 06:55 PM) We don't really need any more 1B/DH types anyway. We desperately need a good first baseman that can hit and field well.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 22, 2017 -> 08:56 PM) Leury Garcia currently second in Sox line-up with an 819 OPS. Never saw that one coming. Alex Rios was worth more than Greg thought. AJ told Hawk that Leury had the talent when the Sox traded for him.
  7. The first rule of baseball ... catch the ball! :-D
  8. It's likely the Sox would lose a lot more games if/when they trade Quintana, Robertson, Gonzalez, etc. and if they do, I'd be OK with those losses so long as they got good returns for those players that will help them win in the future. But even so, I would still root for them to win every game rather than root for them to lose just so they could get a higher slot in the draft which doesn't guarantee them winding up with the best players anyway. Just win.
  9. I remember a few years ago everybody was drooling over a kid named Pedro Alvarez, who I believe wound up being drafted second overall that year. How many would have liked to "Tank for Alvarez?"
  10. Losing begets losing. I'd rather see the Sox improve their scouting and talent evaluation so they can draft wiser instead of earlier. It would also enable them to make better FA signings. They also need to improve the organization at developing talent in the minors. In my opinion, any MLB organization that tanks intentionally just to get a higher draft position (I'm not saying the Sox are doing this) deserves to wind up with a high draft slot for decades on end. Losing is for losers.
  11. QUOTE (flavum @ May 21, 2017 -> 11:25 AM) My hope is they play every 54 games at 23-31, which means 4-9 the next 13. Bottom line, they need to have the worst AL record with a losing interleague record. If they do that, they would max out on their draft position. I'd rather they wind up with the 25th pick and draft the next Mike Trout.
  12. Well if he really is this good for the next couple of years, when he becomes a free agent more than likely some other team will outbid the Sox.
  13. QUOTE (Scoots @ May 20, 2017 -> 02:07 PM) Potential 2020 Lineup: CF Robert SS Anderson 1B Abreu RF Avi 2B Moncada DH/3B Davidson 3B/DH (Free Agent?) C Collins LF Tilson That's an exciting lineup, with the assumption that Tilson is healthy and can actually hit, actually, a lot of this lineup has assumptions lol. One possible alteration, if we have a lot of faith in Yolmer and if he stays hot at the plate, maybe move Moncada to 3B and have Yolmer play 2B, with Davidson DHing. If Abreu is still playing 1B and Tilson and Davidson are in the starting lineup in 2020, this rebuild will have been a disaster.
  14. QUOTE (hi8is @ May 14, 2017 -> 09:29 PM) If the season ended today, we'd have the 14th pick. I'd be happy if they wind up with the 30th pick.
  15. Abreu strikes again. Gotta catch that.
