  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 22, 2014 -> 10:19 PM) This stat about "being worth a couple wins a year" is an example of an advanced stat that bothers me. It makes it sound like the Sox as an organization would only be a loss or two worse w/out Lexi. Let's say the Sox replace him with some stiff who hits .220 and makes a large amount of errors and has not so great range. This is possible cause from what I understand we have no top player "ready" to replace him. You can't tell me the team wouldn't suck much worse than it does now without Lexi. Let's say we put L. Garcia there instead of Lexi. The team becomes a total embarrassment, much worse than this crew which is still a last-place team. Now I'm not saying don't trade Lexi. If the Sox can get a haul for him (not some possible or likely bust named Davidson) maybe they should trade him. But I HATE this stat about how many wins a guy is worth. A simple trade of Lexi for L. Garcia makes this team WAY WORSE than simple two-game margin would suggest. Great post.
  2. It's really hard to sweep any team in the major leagues.
  3. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 22, 2014 -> 03:57 PM) How so? He's worth a couple of wins a year and is 32. They should be shopping him. And they should get a big haul for him if they do trade him.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 22, 2014 -> 03:56 PM) Why would it set them back? They clearly need to add more talent to their system, and he's their best trade chip right now. If the Sox believe Sanchez can play competent defense at SS, I don't think Alexei is an untouchable. Nobody is untouchable. The Sox don't have anyone who can replace Alexei's defense at SS along with his offensive production at SS. Good shortstops are very hard to find. The upgrade from the other players you got in exchange for Alexei would have to be very high to compensate for the downgrade you would suffer at one of the most important positions on the field.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 22, 2014 -> 03:47 PM) Alexei the pop up master of late. Please don't wait too long to deal him if you decide it's time to sell! If they do trade Alexei, they better get a hell of a haul or it will set the organization back for quite a few years.
  6. Nice throw by Tyler. Here comes the stupid review. No review.
  7. Maybe the Sox can trade Micah Johnson for a good outfielder.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 22, 2014 -> 02:59 PM) Eventually you have to quit blaming coaches, and blame the players where due. De Aza is just a terrible OF. He is a baseball-stupid player in general. He gets into bad positions, he makes bad decisions on the basepaths, etc. Sox outfielders have had bad defensive fundamentals long before De Aza was on the team.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 22, 2014 -> 02:45 PM) No shock, the outfield defense has had awful fundamentals dating back to the Dye era. Have the Sox even had an outfielder's coach the past ten years?
  10. Now Hawk is talking about getting our "Karma" back.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 22, 2014 -> 02:20 PM) Did not know he got ejected. Is he pulling a Ned Yost? Getting ejected in final game of the series trying to inspire his team to wake up and sweep? I think so, considering the curveball he was complaining about was a good six inches outside. I think he was trying to help out his pitcher who was clearly struggling.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 22, 2014 -> 02:15 PM) I thought arguing balls and strikes was automatic ejection. That's why he was thrown out. He was tossed before he even came out of the dugout.
  13. Gardenhire: "That ball was right down the f***in' middle!"
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 22, 2014 -> 02:10 PM) The White Sox offense finally comes to life. Things were looking really bleak there. We're buyers again!
