QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 8, 2009 -> 07:29 PM) I missed the first few innings and the discussion on here....why is Wise playing instead of Kotsay? Because Ozzie makes the f***in' lineups!

I don't want to see Torres start another game for the Sox this year.

I hope Masterson hits Wise and Wise charges the mound and beats him silly.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 8, 2009 -> 06:13 PM) Dan Hudson, come on down. You're the next contestant on the White Sox's search for a 5th starter. Too bad Colon hasn't been healthy.

Peavy's return timetable
QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Aug 8, 2009 -> 05:07 PM) Stone said yesterday that he was supposed to throw again today. Looking forward to hearing how that goes. I wonder how many rehab starts he will need Jake Peavy to start Thursday at Charlotte By Mark Gonzales After throwing a bullpen session without any discomfort Saturday, Jake Peavy said he will make his first minor league rehabilitation start Thursday night at Triple-A Charlotte. Pitching coach Don Cooper and general manager Ken Williams said Peavy will need a minimum of three rehab starts, which would make his first major league start with the Sox on Aug. 28 at New York. But Peavy's first start could be moved up to Aug. 23 against Baltimore or pushed back to Sept. 3 against the Cubs, depending on how he feels. Peavy said he conducted fielding drills as well as throwing 52 pitches to test his right ankle. Both ankles were taped. Peavy said a tentative schedule was mapped out but that each start would be set after each outing. Peavy warned that because he hasn't pitched in nearly two months that his body feels like he's in late February of spring training.

QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Aug 8, 2009 -> 08:55 AM) We will get a win today. Book it Can't win if you can't catch the ball. Sox need to tighten up that defense if they expect to win more games than they lose.

Confirmed: White Sox claim on Alex Rios on waivers
Anyone who watched tonight's game and saw Q and Pods in the outfield (and has been watching Dye play RF) knows why the Sox should try to land Rios for CF.

Confirmed: White Sox claim on Alex Rios on waivers
QUOTE (striker62704 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 05:10 PM) Where would Rios play? RF = Quentin, CF = Pods, RF = Dye It's not the Whitesox. Rios would fit in nicely. For the rest of this season Ozzie could work Rios in by DHing Quentin on some days and have Pods LF, Rios CF, and Dye RF. Other days he can rest Pods and have an OF of Quentin, Rios and Dye. Still other days he can sit Dye or DH him and have Q in LF, Pods in CF and Rios in RF. Still other days Rios can sit on the bench in place of Wise and come in as a defensive replacement when Buerhle has another perfect game going.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 04:55 PM) How about Wise for Rios. Now I'd stand up and applaud that. Wise would have to clear waivers first, and Ozzie would be too worried that someone else would claim him.

Angels @ Sox, 7:11 PM
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 04:29 PM) Day game tomorrow will most likely get Wise and Ramirez back out there. They have not missed Alexi. Kotsay has not been seen for a few games either. According to Gonzales, Ramirez is now targeted to be back on Friday.

Alexei should be back tomorrow
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 05:05 AM) Ok, I am going to keep asking until hopefully someone sees something and answers. Do we know when Alexei is going to be back? According to Gonzales' twitter: Ramirez now targeted for Friday, Jenks still out

Should the White Sox trade Jenks and try to sign Webb, too?

Has anyone else noticed
QUOTE (FedEx227 @ Aug 1, 2009 -> 12:49 PM) As others mentioned he hasn't been going opposite field much and he still appears to be laboring on the basepaths but if he continues to hit dingers it won't really matter Stone mentioned the other night that Walker advised Quentin to try to pull everything. He supposedly told him something like, "Don't keep trying to hit the line drives to right center like last year because you're timing isn't good enough to do that now. Just keep trying to pull everything." TIFWIW, but that's what Stone reported that Walker told him.

Sox Acquire Jake Peavy for Richard, Poreda, Russell, Carter
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 05:12 PM) Peavy is only a year and a half older than Clayton Richard. Exactly. Peavy, if he stays healthy of course, has yet to reach his prime.

Sox Acquire Jake Peavy for Richard, Poreda, Russell, Carter
While it's true that Peavy benefited from pitching in a pitchers park as well as pitching in the NL, one thing to remember is he is still only 27 years old. He still has a little more time to actually improve which may result in him being almost as effective in the AL as he has been in the NL. Think of it as a 27 year old prospect who has just been promoted from AAAA to the Major Leagues.

QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 03:44 PM) Wouldn't it be great if he started that make up game at Wrigley after all that hype about them getting him? I never even thought of that. The timing seems just about right, too. That would be awesome! Especially if he shuts them down!
